It's not, it's the other stuff Frontier proposed adding (see the DDF archive at the bottom of the forum home page) for example, that is what *could be* destroying the core experience in Elite.

Except that we paid a bit more than £24.99 for it.
We get it sometimes in 2015, thats all we know. MS often has 3-6 months exclusives, and don't get me started about GTA5 (which I havent played yet as ED came out before GTA5 arrived on pc...)
Great news - CQC looks awesome. Unfortunately I have a PS4 so will have to wait to play it. The reality is FD need sales to build the revenue to pay for new development and also to keep the momentum going. This will also raise the visibility of ED. The only downside is I cannot play it yet, but I take the long game on this. If FD sell lots of units they will do more development and potentially there will be more players in the galaxy, so long term I benefit.
not speaking for anyone else, just me ... I want the same content on all platforms at the same time .. why is that unfair or so hard to do?
Dont know about beta or early access but i thought i read that when it fully launches it will be cross platform.
The only thing is that would make me unhappy is if I have to buy another copy of ED to play on the xbox one. Its not fair that if you buy the game on the Xbox One you dont have to buy the game to play on Windows 10 PC.
BUt actually i dont think it will matter 2 much anyway. When playing a game from the Xbox one on a PC with windows 10 its just streaming the game from the xbox its not running the game on the actual computer. So for people with better systems then an xbox one the game still will be better on your PC.
But still i will not buy the game to play on the xbox one. I will try out the early access. BUt never will i buy the game again.
Does anyone know when "Xbox game preview" launches its today but when. I checked and nothing yet.

I don't think its time to panic and that FD will let this game lose its soul.
CQC won't be relevant in the galaxy, it is just an arena mode. As far as I know, Elite is FD's baby and they are still working on expansions and the core game. But those are really expensive to develop. Are you guys expecting them to fund the game out of thin air?!

Last time Frontier said anything about it, it was that only the galaxy data will be, so it won't be PC/Mac and Xbox commanders in same instances, but the background sim stuff will be shared.
Prepare to be unhappy, you have to buy a copy if you want to play on Xbox One (beyond the free trial I'm assuming is included based on what MS said in their conference).
Fair enough, I understand that wish, but I still don't understand why it's necessary to yet again prove John Gabriel's theory. I'll just stick to the dev tracker now I think.
From the video it looks like an event you can sign up for at maybe a station, kind of like a modern day gladiator.

Not too fussed about CQC coming out on the Xbox One first, not that interested. More of concern to me is how much developer work is this taking away from the planned expansions?
The other thing that worries me is DB saying how the work they do on the Xbox One can be applied to the PC. We've had years where we have had to put up with shoddy console ports being released on the PC, are we going to start seeing the same happen with ED?

Of all the things that could be locked to the XBOX exclusive this the Arena Combat isn't something that will annoy me them having to themselves for a while.
But I'll definitely give it a shot when it comes to PC.

Probably its added to the expansions because the more the game sells the more worthwhile it becomes to support it. If it sells millions on console that will benefit the PC version even if barely anybody played it.

This is a classic case of FD being dammed if they do and dammed if they don't (again).
