Players will require XBox Live Gold subscription to play multi-player E: D on XBox One.

cool. I had terrible luck with free ativirus so Xbox live was cheaper and safer(relatively speaking) to me than paying $60 plus any PC repairs and upgrades over time. I do, well used to, miss my flight/space sims though.

Glad to have you onboard. Hope you enjoy the game. Do you have the beta access?

No, in fact I can't buy it till later today after I visit a store to fill my virtual wallet to the $32 to buy. Thoough if I'd known about ED during kickstarter I'd have bought it on my PC which should run it on low settings. The controlls are mapped out great on the Xbox's controler but HOTAS just feels better in this type of game.

Mm. I use an xbox controller myself. After customizing the settings I'm very happy with it. Not as sensitive as HOTAS but way more comfortable to use, at least for me. :)

15 bucks a month for a live membership x 4 people in my house with me being the breadwinner Hence the reason I don't play the Xbox any more.
Xbox Live Gold is $5 a month if you pay full price - not $15 ($15 is the cheapest I've paid for a full year though, coincidentally). I've never paid more than $40 for it for a year, it's on sale at least every second month.

Also, it should be pointed out that if one person in a household buys it, everybody in that household gets the benefits of the subscription on any console. It's pretty bloody cheap - up to $5 per month per household. Not per game or even per person or per console, per family! Bargain. I'm not sure if this is the way it worked with the Xbox 360, but that's how it works with the XB1.

Destiny, for example, was (is) playable without the full Live subscription. You could still see other players so the constant Internet connection was active (and you couldn't play without Internet, even "Solo"). You just couldn't co-op/PvP without the subscription.

I think it will be the same for ED on the Xbox. The decision is Microsoft's anyway as it's their network you're connecting to, even if they then hand the packets over to the ED servers.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE RELEASE OF THE XBOX VERSION, BUT ON THE TOPIC OF PAY TO PLAY VERSUS "FREE" TO PLAY.

Am I the only one seeing a roadmap revealed here?

Why would anyone be happy to pay a monthly subscription fee to play E: D on XBox, when it's subscription free on PC?

Please enlighten me.

Where did you see there will be a monthly subscription please?
If yo uare talkign about Xbox Live it is not about ED or FD, it's Microsoft charging an extra fee people for accessing something called the internet. Just for that I am glad I am on a PC :D

Call it what you will...;):)

No I don't call it what i will. I call it what it is. The OP is specifically talking about "pay to play" as if it was a part of ED or FD's decision when it is actually due to Xbox policy only. By the same token ED is pay to play on PC because we pay electricity.
Anyway console's players are now used to pay a fee for online access, none of them will be surprised. Besides, the fee is global, is not per game. Again OP title is misleading to say the least.

What people are missing here that its probably not FD requiring Xbox live to play pvp but MICROSOFT

If you look at the Xbox one and the ps4 and a game life FIFA 15. On the ps4 its free to play against other people but on the xbox one you need a gold subscription (like you do for most other games that require multiplayer)
Its just another way for MICROSOFT to get at your hard earned cash

Cheers. The point I was making in my original thread starter is not about who gets what, but simply the fact that pc players can play the multiplayer game for "free", whereas Xbox One owners have to pay a monthly "gold" subscripton fee to do the same.

I merely adressed it as, had I been an Xbox One player, I would have found it odd.

Anyway Michael has set the record straight. Multiplayer on Xbox One: monthly fee, multiplayer on pc: no monthly fee. This was all I needed to know.

Thanks to all who contributed positively. :)

Would you object to a thread title change to something more accurate then?

I would suggest "Players will require XBox Live Gold subscription to play multi-player E: D on XBox One."
