RES "fixed"

It may all be more "realistic" (with NPCs now actually putting up a fight), but it's a lot less fun. Taking on a wing, taking shield damage and then having to wait 10 minutes for them to restore (which is about what it takes my Python with an A6 shield & 3 boosters) is pretty boring. Paying millions to repair ships is unbalanced. It's now much more difficult to get NPC kills, their shields and hull seem much stronger, and they try to keep their distance as well. Ranking up in Combat is going to be much harder if it stays like this.

Congratulations FD, you've made something that used to be fun (farming a RES or a CZ) really tedious now. Way to go.

Please stop!
It's unbelievable: finally long awaited fixes arrive (harder to farm, stronger NPC, shields restoring exploit fixed) and there is always someone crying to bring it back to the sh*t it was before the fix!

Sorry for being rude but:

1) learn to fly your ship
2) use shield cells to recharge your shield if you do not want to wait 10 minutes
3) stop weening

You call shooting fish in a barrel fun? Because that's what RES' was pre 1,3.
Now it's challenging, risky, and if you make mistakes it will cost you money. In my opinion it's the greatest addition so far.
Want lots of money? Go trade.

Had my first session yesterday in a High intensity RES in a high security system. Made 4 Millions in 1~2 hours (haven't been paying attentiontoo closely). Had great fun shooting small ships with high ranks. I tried to reset the instance to see if I could get bigger (5-10 times) but never got anything, which anyway was fine as it was quite fun. Got my ass kicked by a wing of vipers.

I am trying tonight a High RES in a medium security, will see if the spawn is different.

I really enjoyed it, repair cost on my FDL are punitive without being stupid (and you make money quite easily anyway) and I can't just switch off brain and watch netflix while hunting anymore.

I had the most in I've had in ED for ages last night at a RES, made a few quid and went up a few percentage in my combat rank. I'm really happy with how RES are at the moment, so for the love of god, DON'T MESS WITH THEM, they are actually fun right now and that it is a good thing, please don't spoil it with additional 'fixes'!

Please stop!

I totally agree mate. RES zones are in a good place right now: they offer a bit of a challenge, they offer a way to make half decent credits without trading and a good way to rank up combat stats.

If a player finds it too hard, go somewhere easier, don't ask for it to be spoilt for the rest of us. And is they think shield recharge is taking too long, maybe they shouldn't stack so many boosters.

20 million credit in bank, and 30 million next to come for Python :D
I will keep Vulture ;)

High intensity RES are exactly that now with NPC ship ratings of Competent and upwards. Its good fun and really gives my FDL a workout, not to mention I moved up 6 pilot rating points today - I had moved about 1 point since 1.3 came out. I decided to pick on a 3 ship of Asp and 2 Vipers all Deadly/Dangerous rating - had to withdraw due to complete loss of shields on my FDL.

Actually this might be tough on newer players with less capable ships, as the fixed RES is a lot more challenging than pre 1.3 even. I had a 2 ship of Clippers both Deadly and that was fun, along with Dropships and Pythons - no Anacondas though.

Your opportunity to make good credits per hour is back, but its no pushover if you take on high rated wings of 3 :)
Tried fairly extensively but couldn't find anything spawning more than the usual small fry...will take another look in a sec, thanks!

Well thats exactly what the NPC pilots are doing now - I have been rammed by an ASP and a couple of crazy pilots in Vipers. Speaking of Vipers, i killed a "Deadly" Viper and got a 85k Credit Bounty (with KWS). Thats not too bad if you are looking to rank up and build up your credit bank at the same time.

I can tell you one thing, the "fix" applied in the latest patch has made High Intensity RES a lot more interesting than the old days pre 1.3.

I am planning to park my FDL and go back to the Vulture for a while - engaging high ranked small ships in an FDL is a lot of work and the Vulture is much more agile, especially in a RES asteroid field.

Have fun CMDRs :)

I have both a Combat Python and a Deadly FdL, but I keep them for PvP.
For RES hunting the best ship is and always will be the glorious Vulture: cheaper, powerful, agile, and most of all, capable to avoid an unexpected Asteroid in the last second!

Tell me about Python's fire power.
I will mount 3x 3C Beam lasers and better Power Disruptor for start (Starter Package).

He is beast with that configuration?

It's a long talk here :D
May I suggest a triple Pulse instead? Imagine the Vulture and add another one large Pulse :D It's better for the Capacitor, and it can fire for a very long time. And you can have stronger shields, because there is more space for SB.
If you love Alfa damage, then it's ok: but 3 Beams fire for a very short time.

I've just made a detailed comparison between Python and FdL on our italian forum, with all my thoughts about them. perhaps I can write a similar thread on this forum as well.

So as a Miner the short-lived Resource Extraction Sites that existed in V1.3 succumbed back into Bounty Farming Sites in V1.3.04?

Good to know, will avoid these then for mining purposes :)

Its not like there was actually a bonus at the sites... I tried multiple times and could not tell the difference at all :(

Pulse and Burst lasers are a little bit problem for me. I'll keep myself safe from flashing lightning effects. They have bad affection on my eyes - brain.
Beam lasers are adaptive here and i'm play long ED, and i don't have white flash - symptoms under my left eye.

So, as you say: Alfa damage. Directed hit. Fast and effective. Nothing less and nothing more :)

May I suggest a compromise of 3 bursts instead :-]. Can be fired continuously for about 20 - 30 seconds ( with 4 pips to weapons ) and eats threw an Anacondas Shields in 15.

Well or not then ...

It could seem a good compromise, but with the more affordable 7C power plant I'm loving, you'll not be able to equip 4 Class A Shield Boosters, for a FdL like shields.

If you've read that wonderful thread about Weapons effectiveness on shields, you know that class 3 Busts are not that Power Drain/Damage effective as the Pulses.

BTW, for our friend, and is unfortunate eye problem, I may suggest this not so expensive solution:

we are going off topic... :D

Good afternoon, fellow pilots.
Just a quick Q - when hunting in RES sites, who would be my best choise in PP to have a little bonus on bounty reward?

Right now it's Hudson: at rank 2 it's 50% Bonus! Tried myself yesterday, I brought 4 millions in Bounties, and cashed 6...

Here's a question, has anyone figured out how security status ties in, Powers included cause apparently they affect security status. Im currently with Hudson, however I'm noticing that I am receiving Pythons and such in Federation systems where as in Independent systems of variable size I am receiving smaller craft consistently through multiple spawns

Thanks. "Right now"? Do they change bonus effects over time?

Relies on Hudson's Power Rating, and your rating, cause Rating 2 gives the smallest bonus while rating 4 or 5 gives a bigger one.

yes: 30/40/50% depending on the power standing, in the top ten... same for Arissa Lavigny Duval, but she's at second place right now, so it's 40%.

EDIT: wrong Arissa standing updated
