While I never used a hotas, I can say a controller is leagues above a keyboard and mouse, for me at least.

Also the xbox is a fixed spec machine, well above minimum specs, which I'm sure more than a few pc players skirt by. I'm sure the avg xbox player won't be at any disadvantage compared to an avg pc player, if crossplay was allowed.

The reason specified for lack of crossplay was, different patch times. Which makes sense, but is still disappointing.

I am pretty sure that the Xbox One can at least run the game on either High or whatever this game's version of Ultra is.

Problem is, its an even bigger problem of the problem of Open, Private and Solo. It just makes more sense to have us all on one big great server, instead of segregating the playerbase more and more. It also goes back to "Why are they getting CQC first, when we can all get it together and test it". List goes on.

What server ? No matter how many players go in Open, you'll never be able to see more than 31 at a time. And in pratice, you'll rarely see more than 11 players, due to the P2P architecture.

What server ?

We all share the same server that holds the universe data. (Yes, I know it's procedurally generated for the most part, but all the political data is stored. This is why we don't have an offline mode, all the changing, dynamic, background sim data is stored on their server and we all share it and all influence it.)

This seems to be at the core of the opens argument and suggests that there are less players to blow up in open than pvpers would like. So maybe... that is a telling argument on how many choose to go solo to avoid all the unneccesary "player interaction"...
Ah yes, the "all open players are just looking for blood" argument we meet again.

So then why can't we just also play with the console folks? seems a bit dumb if you ask me to just leave them alone with their own guys and are still expected to essentially influence our servers.

i also realize that what what the enemy can do me in solo i can also do them, and that makes the system fair so i can't make a case against it.

Thanks for this; it is one of the arguments brushed aside in this thread. The only answer you get boils down to PvPers not wanting to go into solo (but they do, they do, to "accomplish things").

Because the patch cycles don't match. Microsoft need to approve all patches for XBox. You can't have players playing in the same instance with different patch versions. That has been stated and you have even quoted the post with it in.

Again, if Solo players of the Xbox One can do the same thing we can do PC Solo wise, there is a huuuuuuuuuuuuugggeeee problem.

No problem at all - we all, regardless of platform or game mode, affect the same galaxy state.

The question is Why would they still have access to our universe and still impact it from their solo mode, when we will NEVER see them regardless of modes?

And I mean NEVER, they are entirely excluded from us and that isn't at all necessarily fair to any of the PC/MAC gamers. And the way things have been going with Power Play and the background simulator, oh lord I have no hopes for the amount of bugs that'll be present in that incarnation of a mess.

.... because all players sharing the same galaxy state is a core feature of Frontier's design for the game.

So then why can't we just also play with the console folks? seems a bit dumb if you ask me to just leave them alone with their own guys and are still expected to essentially influence our servers.

Due to scheduling of patches - you should read the Arstechnica interview, it's quite enlightening in that respect.
