It really isn't a good thing that I almost laugh every time I log into the launcher and see the word upgrade since 1.3 was released.

Can I "upgrade" back to 1.2 please...

:)

Almost unplayable? Think again. They will fix it I'm sure, but be patient a bit.

I have no idea where people get that "almost unplayable" attitude. If you're at least a tad flexible in what you're doing in the game, there's always something to do other than that one particular thing you think doesn't work.

Repair costs seem to be fine from what I can see. Then again I have no idea what people have been ing about. Those of us who have been around since the start know how repair used to be, and it was "fixed" to be way too low. Nows its somewhere more reasonable. Fly smaller ships.

For all of you who obviously have never piloted anything bigger than a ASP, save your opinions about whether you think repair costs are "okay where they are" AFTER you buy and outfit a larger ship, and then can't fly it because it breaks the bank. I will explain this again for all of you: Income Does NOT Scale to Ship Size This means I literally have to PLAY 10x longer than you GRINDING to make the money to pay for ONE hour of a high end ship use. Your MISSION costs alone can pay for your ship repairs. Our repair costs have SURPASSED the rate at which we make money from ANYTHING except trade grinding. Combat is literally NOT profitable in a large ship now. How is that fair? We spend literal MONTHS playing this game to be able to afford and outfit our ships, but we can't afford to fly them because of your 'fair' ship costs? Just because we bought a bigger ship doesn't mean we can afford to play this game more to pay for it. This is NOT my life. I do not make a living playing this game. Therefore I cannot afford to play this game just to earn money to fly my ship for literally an hour. It takes literally 3-5 hours of grinding to be able to fly a PYTHON for ONE hour. You can imagine the costs for Anaconda pilots. We don't make more money than you low tier pilots, so why should we be expected to pay literal millions more to fly our ships for the same duration of time. That is BAD gameplay. For those of you that say its only fair for us to pay more because we are richer? Cut the crap. We are richer because we put the time and effort into playing this game, and we did it when it was FAR harder to earn money. Why should we be forced to put MORE time and effort in to simply afford to pay for a SCRATCH. "Downgrade then?" - I shouldn't be forced to downgrade by not being able to afford repairs. If the people who have spent MONTHS playing this game to afford and outfit something like a Python or Anaconda.. can't afford to fly it.. WHO CAN? Might as well remove those ships from the game with that logic. Anyone remember the old saying: "If your shields go down, even if you win the battle, you've lost the fight"? Not having a repeat of that. Shields aren't the gods of this game. I pay 300 million for hull plating for a reason. Let me use it. Let me use my ship.

20 ton cargo limit change?

Cargo drone exploding bug?

Any fixes for these yet?

I think they are still working on this one. M.Brooks posted they are considering removing the limit when in deep space (away from station) or making it so they drop in stacks but under a single object in space. I'm sure they will find a good way to help prevent the griefers and still allow for piracy to make profit again.

Last time I checked, ships from an opposing power are flagged red as "Enemy", and engaging them does not place a bounty on your head. This is also how it is supposed to work according to the announcements from FD.

As for delivering 10k merits with the T9, it'll take you ages to pile up all those power commodities in the first place; you may not have noticed, but there's a cap on how much of that cargo you can collect per half hour. Even at Rank 4, you can never earn more than 8400 merits a week through transport alone, and to sustain Rank 5 in this manner you'd have to sit in front of the game just shy of 14.5 hours a day, 7 days a week. Gaining merits through killing ships, on the other hand, does not come with a fixed cap - the only limit is your firepower and the number of suitable targets you happen to encounter.

You don't understand. if YOU go into ANOTHER powers control system to undermine them by killing their ships, you get a bounty on your head for each ship you kill as well as 15 merits.
Yes indeed, many people are just sitting in their hanger bays, logging in every half hour until they have a full cargo of merits and then do a run, times that by 20 and you have your full 10k merits and less people actually playing the game, compare this to not exploiting it, where your having to kill hundreds of opposing power ships in opposing power control systems while simultaneously gaining millions of credits of bounties on your head. So one way if your rich you can skip the "grind" and just earn silly profit from 20 runs in a t9 and not playing the game. The other way you spend 10's of hours a week "grinding" and gaining millions worth of bounties on you.
And yes, you can earn as many merits as you want buy buying them, lots of people already have.

Income directly scales to ship size. The more powerful the ship the faster you take out targets and the more cargo you can haul. Thus the more money you will make. Each ship as I went up the chain to conda made me more than the previous one. If you don't like the game please just take off. Why just whine and about it? its a game. Not life. Just walk away.

Getting 10k merits just sitting at station takes a long time. 200 hours of just waiting to be exact at rank 4.... then you need to do the hauling.... If someone really wants to just log in every half an hour to earn it they can do it.

And if you're flying you're anaconda with 8 shield boosters if they do go down you need to sit in a station staring at the recharging bar for 20 minutes every time you want to fly it.

It's very funny hearing people saying rapid cost for big ship are fair. If you have more than 300 million credits, congratulations. That shows that you have a lot of time for playing Elite. Congratulations again. People like me that we have to work, have a child and have one hour or two per week to play this amazing game have a lot problems to get enough money to buy a high class ship. In my case I played hard to get 70 millions to buy a Fer d Lance and upgrade it quite well. It's frustrating after last 2 patches that in my little time for elite I can't use my Fer for combat because constantinly I'm losing money due to repair cost. Sorry but for my its not fair. I'm starting to lose my illusion for playing elite in last weeks due to this bug. So leave rapair cost in same way that it was 2 patches ago...

Um...are we working on a fix for the issue of not being able to connect with friends , wing up, text to local...It times out every time since the last two updates. My roommate and I play ED on a home network. We were able to play in group, and open play and meet up with eachother. Now we can no longer see each other in space, nor can we wing up or do anything comms related. This is a big issue to say the least.

With 1.3.5 1% integrity repair of my Anaconda costs around 73.000 cr. 100% integrity repair is below the insurance cost, but close. I'm ok with that. Would be silly if destroying the ship would be a better choice than repairing it.

Actually, if you think about it ... if you've ever been unlucky enough to have a serious car crash, you'll know that sometimes it can cost more to repair it than to scrap it and buy a replacement ... the concept of the "insurance write-off", or being uneconomical to repair.

They scale to an extent before the income you are making is no longer significantly more. At this point, yes you have to play for much longer without your shields dropping even once to be able to afford to fly a large ship. The risk/reward ratio has surpassed the point where there is too much risk, with too little reward. I can just as easily make the same money doing combat in a Vulture as I can in an FDL or python for instance. Not because the two larger ships cant kill faster. They can. They cost too much to repair and gain too little money in comparison. Might as well remove them if that's the case. This is about combat in the first place. Any ship can haul cargo. Of course the larger bay will make you more money. That's a no brainer. If you can't reply to my serious thread with more than "Quit whining" then you obviously don't have a opinion worth listening to. I put forward serious points that made perfect sense and pointed out logical flaws in this game. If you call that whining, then don't bother talking to anyone half sane. When did I ever say I didn't like the game? I love the game. I put in the effort to get me a large ship in the first place didn't I? I want to have fun flying my ships. But I want to make money at the same time. Its no longer effective to do that with a large ship. Get over yourself.

I will be perfectly honest, I don't even have an Anaconda right now. I never payed for 300 million credit hull plating either. That was a ridiculous amount of money and wasn't worth it in my opinion. Does not change my point that if there is 300 million credit armor in this game, you should be able to use it without incurring extreme costs for doing so. That's the point of armor. I've use this simile before: A modern tank costs millions of dollars to make. It does NOT cost millions of dollars in upkeep. Ammunition for the tank costs more than the maintenance on the tank. Likewise tanks are expected to tank bullets. No one takes a tank into combat and hopes that it takes no damage. Why would my starship in the year 3301 be any different? Removing bullets from a tank and rearmoring it is cheap. Don't give me crap about it being the future so it will cost more. We can build civilian-faster than light space ships for the cost of a modern luxury car. I think we can afford to keep them repaired as well for cheaper than millions. And my point actually fits here perfectly. Yes I spent the time to get that money. No I don't have the time to continue to do so. Like you, I have a life. This game is not my life. Theres only so much time I have on it to play. And I don't want to spend that time making a maybe a million every so often, only to lose it to the first scratch on my hull. That does not make for fun gameplay.

Tell me about it, I got a small dent in the rear corner of my otherwise really nice car, purely cosmetic apart from the fact that the red brake light cover was smashed. Insurance write off!

In my Adder, if I lose shields, I normally look at an insurance rebuy screen, for about $50,000. No shield recharge time. :)

I have no idea where people get that "almost unplayable" attitude. If you're at least a tad flexible in what you're doing in the game, there's always something to do other than that one particular thing you think doesn't work.

Ever been stuck in a traffic jam and annoyed about it? Don't be, there are plenty of other roads to drive on.
.
Man this fine/bounty system is even worse than the repair costs. Probably on par with the cargo limit.

Yeah, income does scale. If it's not you're just doing it wrong or are a rubbish combat pilot...

How ever, I do think that there needs to be a way to make MORE money over all. The cost of buying and building said ships is .
