News David Braben Guest Blog - on Xbox One and CQC

You people realized in the CQC trailer that you'll ba able to fly the Condor and the Imperial Fighter? Amazing :)

imperial fighter for one is confirmed. i also very much like the way they are talking about mmo style combat roles, i.e. sidey = tank / eagle = dps. love it !

Other than all the guys that backed the Kickstarter at levels to gain alpha/beta access, i think this may be a blessing in disguise.

CQC is a perfect fit for consoles, and while i really do feel sorry for the guys i mentioned above, they will atleast get to play it on PC at a later date. And maybe Frontier can think of something to make up for this rather rude queue jumping?

Maybe we will see a reduction in the gamers that love to 'grief' others in the main game? Maybe all the cheating/cheesing type gamers will be drawn to this simple PvP mode and the general ED galaxy will become a more 'realistic' place with more normal behaviour patterns from players?

As long as the content and fixes for the PC version keep coming, having this side line to raise extra funds may not be as bad as it first seems. I guess as with pretty much everything to do with ED, we shall see later down the road. Fingers crossed :)

Extra funds for the rollercoaster game you mean.

"Deathmatch, Team-Deathmatch, Capture the Flag"

Do you really want to have another Quake III Arena Clone in a space sim ?

I am really interested how they will implement it into the ED Universe. Will it be a separate gameserver (which would totally kill the immersion...) , or will it be in a special system, that you only are allowed to enter with a permission. It should be all-in-one server. I think you could not count the amount of players who would be eager to compete with a arena star in an out-of-arena fight ;-).

From my understanding it is completely stand alone.

For this reason I think the standard ED universe needs a small amount of love, and some dedicated PvP combat zones/areas added to it, with a variety of settings (asteroid fields/station), and ideally rewards (CRs) for kills and repair/insurance costs covered to some degree - Well these areas do provide TV entertainment :)

Was anything said re PC going forward or did I miss the bit about "what it means for PC".... or was the missing bit the point?

No news RE the PC except we'll (also) get CQC by the end of the year.

So that makes zilch announcements about the core game.

so far.

i popped in to see if there was an eta on planetary landings, enjoyed this instead.
as a young dev I gotta say keep it up current game creators. i'm over here worried about making good games when really all i gotta do is keep my word and i'll be set for life.
thanks for all the fish.

It is a completely seperate game. Where's the problem with that?

If they have time, resources and money to make a completely seperate game, then they damn well had time, resources and money to fix this one. That's the problem with it.
