Important Notice Regarding Oculus 0.6 SDK

Thank you very much for this info!
I presume there will be a short update on this thread when it is save to run with the 0.6 SDK?
Because i'm watching it ;-)

Keep up the great work guys!

Euro truck sim 2 is now updated to the new SDK and apparently offers the best VR experience to date performance wise (in that game)

so now it is just elite forcing me to hold onto the old SDK. come on FD, make it so ;) (please)

This weeks Dev update says they tried the updated SDK and it broke the game. MB says they are working with Oculus to fix it.

Good news (of a sort)

I've tried with the 1.3 beta and no combination of settings and ports and configuration works for me. I just get a black screen on the rift AND on the primary monitor.

tried with AMD GPU.
in extended mode doesn't work, in direct it works only when I set coulus first time in graphic options, but if I restart the game I obtain only a black screen.

Hey all,

I got my OR DK2 yesterday.

As i followed the "Getting Started with Oculus", i did DL the 0.6.0 and installed it.

I had not 1.3 beta installed.

It worked for me in extended desktop to the HMD, and with OR set as primary screen.

Direct mode made weird things.

Only one trouble is the lost of trackIR that make the camera Quickly jump behind the pilot seat and get back.
Some light bug too.

Is it safe to uninstall 0.6.0 in the win program manager and reinstall 0.5.01 according to u ??

Yes uninstall then reinstall 0.5, this is also the method I use to update driver versions

Edit : don't forget you will need to set the DK2 back into extended mode

I'm getting double mouse cursors using 0.5

too scared to try 0.6 yet until FD say they have tested and passed it.

i can run the game maxed out and it seems "fine" in my dk2 (75fps on ultra with my gtx 980 ti)

however, i find the movement of asteroids in that first tutorial area to be kinda sorta choppy. its not judder, i can move my head around smoothly all the time, its just the rocks out the window that seem lightly choppy..

You may find those areas are difficult to get perfect. I suspect it is down to the following:

1) Space is near black and the asteroids are close to white. This means any movement is very limited by black to white/white to black response of the display.

2) Depends if the frame rate is changing while one moves around. Lots on the screen to be rendered at once.

I have found the following things to help the 980 in general. 980Ti may not see benefit, but you can try:

Set shadow and reflection detail to low (shadows in real life dont have detail).
Use NVIDIA inspector to set a frame rate limit of 75FPS.
Force VSYNC ON/OFF with triple buffering set the same way - see which works better for you.
Use 1.5 supersampling max (in ED).

On the 980 this smooths out most of the issues - barring those that need code work, a better display response time or simply a much more powerful GPU.

Am I the only one running the latest firmware with the latest beta with no issues (other the same issues we've had since last year)?
