Ship Builds & Load Outs Courier bulkheads costs the Earth

..so i am tapping through edshipyard and coriolis ship builder site..

I note that on the half mil - 170 ton DBScout -
EDshipyard has tonnage at 42t for mirror and price of 1.185 mil
Coriolis has tonnage at 26t and the same price of 1.185 mil
Apart from a slight weight data base update .. cost reasonable

I note on the 2.5 million - 35 ton Courier the 8t Mirror bulkeads are a staggering 5.4 million

Comparison:
180T Cobra @ 27t mirrored costs 0.797 mil
60t Viper @ 9t mirror costs 0.304 mil
230t Vulture @ 35t mirror costs 10.4 mil

Courier -
1. Whats the mirror made out of .. antique silver?
2. Why should there be such a difference in the heavier scout and the lighter Courier just because of ship purchase price
3. As a cost function tied directly to the value of the ship.. I think bulkhead weight should also factor into the calculation.

..thoughts anyone?

the courier is an paperweight ship, and it is designed like that. applying military composite bulkheads is complicated, need special material/design. comparison to earth today: it's cheaper cause easier to get a benz limousin or a volvo "bullettproof", than a maserati or ferrari.

:) outside of immersion: bulkhead prize is calculated relative to shipprize w/o outfitting.

Not entirely on topic, but why are you even considering bulkheads on the courier? It has the speed to pace the fastest ships in the game and has shields that shame the ship class above it.

Next to that, bulkheads on the Courier cost it a lot of agility and some speed. At the same time, the hull value is so low that all the damage reduction from bulkheads won't really give it any additional survivability.

So while the prices indeed are strange, there is absolutely no reason at all to ever use that stuff.

oh, i'd say there is one reason. smuggling in a courier with silent running/shields off. a military composite reduces repaircosts if you ditch anything.
