The Powerplay discussion thread.

My reward from power play is fun.
If we didn't have PP, I would still be doing somethings since launch. Trading and Mission (CG's)
With PP, I now fitted a few ships for PVP combat, something I never would have done without PP. I am also wanted in at least 10 systems, something that would never have happened without PP.

PP is not a trap, its what you make of it. I have so much money, I can now actually use it!

I tried to involve myself into PP the first week but it caused more rage than fun for me. After that i only maintained rank 4 until the last cycle. Then greed got me and i grinded my way to 10k merits. And now? This cycle i only needed 2k to maintain rank 5. I spent some money and earned it back through bounty hunting (even more than that). I dont care what happens to my power but i dont work against it neither, I just let the money tick in over the next weeks until its enough to get all the ships i want. When that happens goodbye PP.

I think I go buy a recorder and put it on a repeat. - Yes, the moment we choose another power you can type all the events which will follow. You call that a threat. Yes.

Roen if you choose another power so be it I don't control you nor do I want to if you wish to join another power so you can enjoy your GAME I am so happy for you, but while you were a so called member of operation winter on my site telling me Cosi Mercenaries would attack winters if the assembly (which didn't even exist yet and I tried explaining that) did not support those system you were listing yes I call that a threat or even intimidation would be the better word, but if you think I am wrong why don't you ask your peers on this forum what they think?

Was it a Threat , Intimidation Members ?

There will be a group of players organized to take your power down. That has been explained to you, and you seem to clearly understand it and use it to enforce your word of ADMIN.

OK lets start at the beginning on that one because I was understanding you up till the end. Yes there are organized powers who are hostile to Winters It's Power play I don't need you to explain that nor does any other PP player I imagine.

And then we get to...."use it to enforce your word of ADMIN" and that is where you lost me. Help Help I need a translator in here :p

All yours all yours. Havit, pleze. We put roses on the road so you can walk through out your kingdom. - Just we are not going to be your royal guards anymore. We had enough of this.

You might have simply asked if we wanted you to be our royal guards. I haven't heard a single operation winters member even suggest such a ridiculous thing Winters Ethos is Democracy not Monarchy you do know the difference don't you ?

The reward in Powerplay is not credits.
As the real reward for exploration isnt credits.
And the reward for the BGS isnt credits, either.

So Powerplay is only without rewards if you do not find the rewards it offers rewarding.

This is the best thread i have read all night and i don't even know what you guys are talking about. You have passion, this place needs more of that. Rep for all.

Yes and no. For followers of most Powers, that's just what it is in terms of rewards - an unrewarding waste of time. Then there's a few Powers (mostly Lavigny) that actually do provide great stuff to their pledgers. Just typical E:D "balance".

True. I'll have to check out life with one of the other powers some time in the distant future but have too much fun in Antal.

So you spend 100 Million to get level 5.
Then after a few weeks and the numbers stabilize you will be spending roughly 50 million to maintain it every week, so it cancels out the payment you get for being level 5
(x + x/2 + x/4 + x/8 = 10000 , x=5000)

So if you trade in an Anaconda with 450 slots, in a 15 minute trip, it will take 11.1 trips, and if each trip is 15 minutes that is 3 hours of mandatory weekly work in order to maintain the privileges, and if you fail to do so, you will be back to square one.

What are those privileges? modules that are mostly sidegrades at best, and the economic advantages of Rank 5, for the time invested are pretty bad for most factions, I believe the only decent one is Lavigny, and even then it is just the privilege to earn more money for sinking even more hours, but with the nerfed RES, that is barely noticeable.

I'm getting the feeling that Fdev have 0 respect for our time by implementing a system like this.

In short YES it is...........It offers something for the RPers or completionists but offers very little in real terms. Repped OP :)

Good thing in ED is that each so-called clan can make his own group and the will not see each other. And I (being in Solo) will see none of them :)

It is some what of a cash sink. I imagine it is fun when you are with others of the same faction fighting for a common goal. I gave up on it because i like to go to other systems without the shot me now for supporting Hudson.

Please Roen, do us all a favor and quit Winters for another power. I can assure you that we will be fine, much more than with you around, the extra undermining will be a drop in the ocean of undermining that we are already seeing (take a ticket, the queue to undermine us is rather long) and will be far less detrimental to us than your preparation/expansion of useless systems. And the persons that invited you to join their power yesterday are in for a bad surprise.

If we do not follow their order they start to sabotage work done by players the preparation attempts by preparing lesser systems closer to capital with worse income just that they keep their own heads in power control of the side.

You keep whining about the fact that we are preparing useless systems but go back to the link in your OP, which part of "we do not want to expand", which part of "preparation/expansion is not a priority" did you miss? The only reason we are preparing these systems is because we have no choice, the game forces you to do it, you can't skip this phase, you have X amount of CC to spend and they will be spent on preparation no matter what. Everyone is aware that they are not good systems but they are not meant to be expanded next week (and on top of it we reached the point where not a single system is good anymore because overheads are about to bite us in the ***), they are just less worthless than the one with a negative profit that was in the list during the first couple of days, they are just less worthless than Polecteri that is so far away from our HQ for a grand profit of 75 CC and since we can't really control which systems people are going to expand, I'd rather see them expand a useless system that is close to us rather than 140 Ly from the HQ.

They do not understand why there is Polecteri as an example, it is also a frontier station...

Please enlight us. Tell us what is so good about this system:

2015-07-05_00003.jpg

A system so outcentered from our region, that is 140 Ly away from our HQ for a profit of 76 CC, with 17 systems within its bubble that will increase our overheads by 200 minimum... so after the grand 76 CC profit this system will have cost us over 125 CC. On top of it if you were to expand it (which is going to be more costly than preparing it) once it is undermined are you the one that will make the 140 Ly trip back and forth between the HQ and Polecteri? I doubt so... Go ahead, explain to everyone the reasons to go there. I can tell you that once you have done it no one will want you within their ranks.

If I understand what you mean about "frontier station" and your rants about exploring, it seems that you want to expand there as a gate to explorer further... Well guess what, RP and exploration are not going to help us keep our head over the water. Only math through good planning will do.

I do want pure clearance what is overheads, how are they calculated, and I strongly want to know why are we enforced to stop progression in this game.

You want us to believe that you are a good planner when you are asking how overheads work in the same post. How the irony.

There's no shame in ignoring how something works and asking for explanations but in that case get off your high horse and stop bossing people around with your expansion objectives which are only hurting us.

In summary: please leave Winters. No one else than you is talking about "civil war" (just LOL) so if you don't like our objectives to keep our power on track you can just go elsewhere.

This thread is like being on drugs at an opera, I can see people moving and hear noise but I have no idea what the characters point is or indeed what they are saying. I am however looking forward to my cornetto at the intermission.

I am so glad I am not the only one afflicted ;)

I have to admit it seems all the major powers are having the same issues.
Yeah, having to deal with Commanders who have no sense of loyalty, constantly moan about the remuneration package and benefits, liable to defect at any moment for a shiny new gizmo and who are grind-work shy.
It's a wonder the PP leaders don't jump into Solo and be done with the scurvy lot.:D
