The Powerplay discussion thread.

I havent check that one as much as the previous one but it would seem that the (n+1)th exploited sytem added to your power will add about 40.5*(n)^2 / 1 000 000 CC

So at 500 systems :
If you succeed one expansion with 15 exploited the system(it varied from 12 to 20 in the last few cycles)
You add approximatively about 5x10+5x11 = 105CC of overheads.

I did the math if we were to expand 3 systems (which is the best scenario given that we could succeed in a fourth one) (and obviously which doesn't take fortification into account so the situation could be better or even worse) but that guy refuses to acknowledge the existence of overheads, how it is estimated and above all what it means regarding the need to slow down expansion. It's a lost cause.

Distance would be in the upkeeps i'd guess. Overheads is just a measure of how "Big"(=/= spread out) the power is. Something more happens with Patreus and others at a lesser degree, but that i have no idea what it is(making them pay less than the formula would let you expect).

No group of players is going to get me to do something I don't want to do. If you don't like it, don't do it. You can choose to not get involved by not pledging, and go on your merry way as a free agent. If you want to join PP and have influence, then you have to learn to play the game (and I don't mean E:D).

Crying that someone else is better at playing the real game just makes you look like a baby. "They shoot me!" So shoot them back. "But they have more people!" Then too bad, you lost.

This is a bit of a weird Topic, basicly what the OP says is "Powerplay is failing because what people say on the Internet".

The beauty of Elite is that nobody can force you to do anything, just do what you want. People will say stuff on the internet you don't like all the Time, its not the Games fault.

Are the fortification costs included?

And anyway, we can close this topic... I will pledge to no-one and that is it for me.

Now you want it closed because you lost the petty little dispute, I seriously doubt the existence of your group since Cosi is very much empty.

i had the same issue playing with my son on the same network, i turned off UPNP on the router and magically we can now wing and play together with no issues and we see more players in game.

Before any internet nerds start 'oh no you should not turn that off' ..... shush.
It works for me at least.

Thanks, I wil try doing that next time and see what happen

Just stop trying to game the game and play it. Yeah Powerplay's the grand space opera role-player's love. For me i just undermined for two evenings and had 750 merits to get my 3 Imperial Hammer railguns. The role-players are happy influencing the galaxy. I'm happy making things go boom for my considerably less of a time investment.
Listen to Ben put away the calculators. If you don't enjoy the experience of the game don't torture yourselves anymore, do something else. It's not rocket science.
What i need to know is if i defect now do I lose access the Imperial Hammer?

sorry we payed for a game that promised something and did not intend to deliver

No it is not over mister starkiller, we just began.

How is your pinned topic official orders in elite? For example, who nominated you to control the power? Are you someone who dominates and why?
Was there a poll or vote we took a part, I somehow missed that.

Gosh I may look so stupid now but, I am using a shovel to dig out the dirt that has to be put in some kind of control.
And never mind that. I don't need the answer. I will not be in reddit. =)

None of my problem anymore.

And thank you nicomak, you did come out with exactly the data necessary... The overheads has been used as a weapon to oppress others and what you just said took it to light.
They have been claiming that distance and fortification are in overheads and so on... Everyone been talking about extra this and that. But yes your answers did clarify exactly what I expected. - I shall quote you.

Now honestly I was so bashed around because of the distance to capital all around.. I had to start an entire bomb topic to get to bottom of this. Thank you!
I finally got the point that I needed.

Now, sorry editing the typo did remove the Quota marks automatically.

If you guys don't believe it now. Read what I was asking, about the distance calculation. - I got the answer I needed. Now I can say to you.

Please stop telling me lies about distance to capital system will make a huge bomb to overheads. That is absolutely clear now? Right? Stop it all!
I did get myself to look stupid enough to get this thing clear. - You have been flaming all the systems a bit away from your golden zone as horrible overheads. - You were telling people the capital and systems around the capital are only systems we are allowed to expand.

Right now that claim will put your 5th round order in light. It is build on myth and it has been total busted.

You really didn't, because it was all explained to you, or the thread that contained Nicomak's data was linked to you, in a separate thread before you started this (this one, in case you lost it).

And please learn how to use the QUOTE tag.

And please learn how to use the QUOTE tag.

Indeed, all forum users should use the built-in quote features when replying to posts - to simply copy paste makes attribution of the post being replied to rather difficult at times and makes it more difficult to check if the quoted post has been quoted accurately.

I was explained this system totally otherwise by one guy in reddit. I did disagree with him and now I just got the answer that I was right. He was wrong.
I had no problem understanding the topic in forum. I just had to do this to put claims vs facts to face each other so they can be confirmed or busted.

So, the myth or claim which says that distance to capital will cause big time overheads is busted. Therefore it is not denied to expand to good systems. There is no need to lie about that anymore.

While editing the typo. The quota tag removed itself in save. -

The obvious (to most) flaw of the PP mechanics was pointed out right at the start of this thread, the lack of tools for faction members to participate in decision making and tactics. I am currently preparing a system that is a safe distance from the 'front lines' that will give a good return for upkeep. Of course I am unable to share my reasoning to the others in my Power faction. I like the powerplay mechanics...even the decay system.

The only reason it is failing and there is only ONE reason, it's because summer is here and the sun is out and a huge portion of Powerplay commanders are out enjoying the sun, Fact.
