Hardware & Technical Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X

Just wondering if the drivers add any benefits: Change scale/graph of joystick movement to value etc. eg: More expotential than just linear.

I just plugged mine in and away it went, didn't download any drivers or anything so I can't comment on the drivers adding anything to the stick. Mine worked pretty nicely straight out of the box so I haven't bothered to dabble too much.

Anyone opened theirs (joystick section) up to lubricate (grease) it?

Mine (& a friends) has gone somewhat creaky, so I'm wondering how easy it is to open up and lubricate. I've taken off the rubber grommit around the top of the joystick's base, and there's only limited access... Anyone opened up the bottom? If so , straight forward or dangerous?

Neil check out my Joystick Curves video if you want a bit more control with the Hotas X -

The drivers on the site are just drivers, no need to use them unless you're having an issue somewhere (they might fix issues where forward is backward etc). Mine is a bit creaky too but it gets better with more fine control and less heavy-handedness I find.

So no one has unscrewed the bottom of the joystick? Interested if this is safe and if you can then lubrcate the mechanism?

Superb video and explanation! Thanks for posting that, really useful and definitely something I'm going to try out.

I've had a go with that BTW. A couple of pointers incase they help:-
- I set the program to load at windows startup, and minimise to tray. I noticed when I next booted all my joystick profiles had disappeard. I've got a funny feeling it only saves them when you leave the program, so I now right click and tell it to exit, and reload to ensure my changes are not lost.
- I was amazed at the uber poor response from yaw. This program can't do a lot with what the joystick pumps out, but it can help give you a slightly better response from the rotation of the stick IMHO.

Overall, I'm not sure yet if it helps. When I first tried interdicting someone, I did terribly compared to how I used to do... THis should surely be one of the best tests for the joystick response/accuracy. I put it down to getting used to it, su the jury is still out :)

Thanks for the tip. To be honest I'm fully expecting not to like it at all as I've got very used to my Thrustmaster now. On the other hand, I know exactly what the guy means about the mouse. Every time I go back to it I love the sensitivity of it compared to the stick.

Be nice if you could use the mouse during interdiction(s) maybe then? :)

While I'm on this thread, has anyone else had problems with button 5? (I think it's 5, it's the top one of the three by your thumb on the throttle). Mine has become (perhaps always was) very unreliable and a bit of googling suggests this is not an entirely uncommon fault with this stick.

I've pretty much got used to the HOTAS X without using this as well, simply because it was the VJoy driver causing the audio issues in the video. Most people seem to find it's helped them a lot but I hardly got time to use it myself.
