reading here for a while. the tests and ideas here are totally amazing.

to add something: morse. voyagers. voyager's golden record included morse. "Included within the Sounds of Earth audio portion of the Golden Record is a track containing the inspirational message per aspera ad astra in Morse Code. Translated from Latin, it means, through hardships to the stars." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contents_of_the_Voyager_Golden_Record - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voyager_Golden_Record there is binary code and several ideas of communication with extra terrestrials mentioned.

that one star trek film came into my mind. something "found" the voyager(s), learned morse, communicates back.

Uhhh Redwizzard first got a UA and Wishblend first discovered it.........soo.....I'm gonna call bluff as nothing was said at the first thread about it being sold............sceenshots and quote to the post is what I want to disprove this please....

Well, IandIRedEye claimed to have found and sold an UA before the "have you listened to it" comment. He was not 100% that it was an UA. Thats all we have on that I think.
Unless someone else found one and haven't told it here.
There are a lot of players that don't read the forum.

As I tried last night, the Voyagers are gone. I've been to them before (http://cmdrbranch.tumblr.com/post/117758850475/voyager-2-spinning-broadcasting, in 1.2.07). There was a thread on them on Reddit about them being gone for CMDR Tanj Redshirt. I went back, found them missing for me & filed a bug report several weeks back - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=159562. No response.

Interesting. I've just submitted a news article about that: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=101801&p=2529269&viewfull=1#post2529269

If they pick it up, we'll know the probes are actually gone and that it's not a bug.

Someone mentioned before about we don't usually interact with cargo.
I've checked the wiki and can't see any specific mention of this, so I'll make the suggestion.

Could one of the UA bearers please visit Leonard Nimoy Station in LHS 3006, and check the Bulletin Board for any missions which might relate specifically to the UA?
It could be that holding a UA in your cargo hold unlocks a mission somewhere. Leonard Nimoy Station was where the wing was heading in the 1.2 release trailer, so try there first.

It wouldn't hurt to try talking to it... per aspera ad astra :)

You could add in that it could also be due to it being the key to the UA as a little rumor

I originally intended to do that, but then decided against it; it wouldn't give us any additional information. Rather keep it simple and "in character".

If it does get picked up, I will follow up - I have a few ideas, need to mull them over.

I did that many times in stations that I went to (including Leonard Nimory several times due to the trailer) and outposts in the early stages of having the UA.....sorry I forgot to put that into the wiki and will do so now.....

A shame about the Voyagers. I'm lucky to have seen them in game when I could. :)

As for the UAs, I am now beginning to get the feeling that the next stage is not going to happen until all the known UAs are destroyed. It's the only thing we haven't really done yet...

Consider it a nail in the coffin for Voyager. They are not here.

Compare to this image, 2.3 million LS away, same direction as this image: http://i.imgur.com/Oi2Z658.png

A totally off the wall idea.....feel free to shoot it down.....The Voyagers disappear and the UAs appear....Both of them use morse code... could the UAs actually be the Voyagers after they have been infected by some alien virus, or modified by aliens or....??????

Edit - of course there were 3 UAs - so that doesn't work, but what if the Voyagers were picked up by "something" and the UAs are copies....could the code included in the Voyagers be related to the code on the UAs?

Neither do they appear to have drifted outside of Sol in the direction of the systems listed below. I travelled 100+k LS towards Sol from each of their Nav Beacons and found nothing but empty skies smirking at me, quite without any trace of either of the probes.

Alpha Centauri, Barnard's Star, Luhman 16, Wise 0855-0714, Wolf 359, Lalande 21185 & UV Ceti.

RIP Voyagers? Did they fall or were they pushed?
Frankly, while I did not seriously expect to find them in the neighbouring systems and went looking just out of pigheaded curiosity, I'm a little dismayed by the seeming removal of the Voyagers from the game. The active removal of content is odd to say the least, but when that content has garnered the game some positive press in the past? Bizarre. Here's hoping that Bartmoss' GalNet submission spurs some kind of response - if for no other reason than to potentially see in-game "tourist attractions" returned for those cmdrs who would enjoy visiting them.
I guess what I'm saying, really, is that this evening's Voyager Fever has been a fun deal for me but, moreso, with the various efforts (past and present) to address the Voyagers' silent absence and hoped-for return quite possibly something of a worthwhile by-product of the UA investigations which can be of benefit to other parts of the playerbase not involving or interesting themselves in the UAs. That possibility has been a pleasure to be part of. But now I'm going to sod off and get some kip.

There were at least six Voyagers, though... And we all know what happened to Voyager 6...

I just did this last night (right after the end of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Eo9PrSfwEQ). There's no new missions or anything.

Not at all silly, rather most obvious and a potentially elegant solution to this "riddle"!
Only silly thing that baffles me is that I can't find any reference of any tests in this direction...

We did this about 20 pages back. From the wiki: "

  • Tried flashing ship lights along with the UA's light. Nothing happened. "

The Voyagers were still in-place as of 1.2.07 (just before 1.3 landed). The UAs were introduced long before that. Sorry.

Damn! I liked that idea
