I want to ask you about the Vulture.

I've grown so accustomed to the Vulture's maneuverability that anything else just feels sluggish. I can stay on your tail indefinitely with the Vulture. To get another ship anywhere near the Vulture's combat capabilities, you'll have to spend about 5 times the amount of CR.

It was designed to be around 20 mill base cost in beta 1.2. The space-invader crowd whined about it and claimed it should be ~10 mill.

FD - the masters of balance - slashed the cost to what it is now as a response.

I think this is right, did it from memory but I haven't changed anything on it for a long time so I should know it by now :D

Like Phantomm said, they're rarely Elites, and I don't wanna give the impression I'm dancing around the lot of them while mocking their ancestry and farting in their general direction. A fight can often include 5 minutes of kiting one or two of them around while waiting for shields to come back, and a couple of times I've limped back to dock with a big hole in the cockpit (and a couple of times I haven't made it that far). A lot of it depends on what guns they're fitted with too; I fly up close most of the time so if I'm not careful, a frag cannon can ruin my afternoon. The fact remains that I wouldn't even attempt it in any of my other ships though...

Interesting build. :) And I agree, I will take on with my Vulture stuff that I wouldn't consider in for example my Courier. I got a Python recently, but it's far from A spec at this stage, so same applies at the moment.

The biggest issues with the Vulture (for me) are power capacity and management, speed, as stated before, many ships can easily outrun it, and as another poster mentions, once the shields go, you need to run (and then you come back to the fact that they are not necessarily that fast).

All that said, it's a very strong combat ship, it's pretty good at keeping other ships in your sights in a dogfight, and I don't mind the power issues, they force you to make choices which IMO is a good thing.

FWIW, for hardpoints, I use a C3 gimballed beam laser, and a C3 gimbaled cannon for once the shields on the larger opponents go down.

For every bounty hunter, pirate, terrorist/psycho or anyone who is involved in combat, PvP and PvE, I have a question.

How do you rate the Vulture for combat?

I myself find Vultures to be the most dangerous opponent in combats. This is because it has everything a fighter needs: Shields, Armour, manouverbility, decent speed, good 'gliding', excellent firepower and ofcourse enough power to supply it.
No matter what ship I fly and fight against, let it be a Viper, Courier or a Dropship to a FDL, the Vulture was always my harderst opponent in PvE and PvP.

So I want to ask what you think about it?
Leave your opinions below about wheather it is strong, weak, too strong, too weak, unique, weird or a rainbow unicorn by itself.

Greetings!
Vulture is fun to fly, powerful as hell and can tank a ton of damage. I wish they were about 50m/s faster but it is what it is. I've had all the real fighters in the game, save the Anaconda, and I've gone back time and again to the Vulture. Part of that is because I love bounty hunting, part of that is because other things I could be doing with other ships basically don't work as intended for whatever buggy reason and have frustrated me back to the Vulture and a larger bank account instead of a Python or FdL or Clipper.

I think it's the best rogue hunting ship in the game, especially because it's so damn cheap to replace, fuel and outfit compared to its peers.

I can only speak about PvE, but when I'm in my Vulture, I'm not afraid of anything. The wings of 3 Condas lurking in signal sources? Make my day, punks. Wing of 8 pirates in various ships*? I've got you outnumbered 1 to 8. Conflict zones? Bring it. Situations that would make me think long and hard if I were in my sexy lil Courier, or sexy bloody great FDL or Clipper, I'll just dive in while flying my Vulture.

Honestly, I think they're pretty OP.

*Just remembered the one thing that does drive me straight back into SC; a wing of 6 or 8 (I never hang around long enough to count them) Vultures.

Haha, I jump the hell out of it whenever I see them. I haven't even dared to challenge them once.

Has any one tried to solo them in any ship?

Nope and I would be as bold to say that anybody who claims otherwise is just lying lol. Anything small enough and agile enough to dogfight them will be torn to shreds anyway and anything big enough to tank the damage wont be maneuverable enough to deal with any more than one or two tops, while popping SCB's like candy. I have tried in a near fully A rated python and you don't last two minutes with the new AI especially. You can't kite them, they stick pretty close together at all times and attack you constantly from multiple angles. If they are anything like the other gold-trap AI even if you did manage to take a couple of them the rest would high wake out as soon as you did anyway. It is the only combination of AI I wont touch with a ten foot pole, it is the very definition of getting ganked lol.

The vulture is a fourth the price it should be. That's all, really.
This very well may be the most powerful small fighter in the game. It should be expensive as balls to maintain.

At the risk of sounding like a hipster, I sold my Vultures on both my accounts for Scouts. Vultures are thoroughly OP, to the extent that it makes the game boring.

You're right. Once in an SSS the three Dangerous/Deadly Vultures stripped the shield of my Clipper in no time. I might be able to last a little longer if I had timed SCB better, but I underestimated their firepower.:p Another time I was also in full A Python against 2 Vultures and 1 Cobra. It took so much effort to keep just one Vulture in my sight. The fight dragged so long that even cops jumped in in the end.

4.6M x 4 = 20M? That sounds a bit high but still acceptable. I would still buy one in a heartbeat if it's 15M hull + 15M outfit. Vulture should be in the same class of Dropship and Clipper, not Asp.
