So what exactly happpens on a misjump? Where do I appear (I never encountered one)
From what I understood the UA indicates the nearest celestial object which is - nowhere? - after a misjump.

from what i have read in the old Elites, Thargoids were able to redirect commanders who where jumping.
They were able to send you to new locations, ambush you and all those things.

So if they live in said space and we pass through it all the time, they may want to give us what we need to contact them.

their first attempt failed, we attacked them, we wanted to destroy them.
so maybe now they want us to start the next communication attempt?

Thanks to Cmdr Nilreb for holding my SAP8 and Painite while I changed out of my Python into a DBX! I'm now in a 30ly range DBX and rigged for carrying a UA if necessary. AFMU, full shields, full weapons, the works. :)

Cargo currently 1x legal SAP8 Core Container and 3t of Painite for further UA testing if needed.

good luck with that!
and if you find them: dont shoot, that might be a bad idea xD

would you have access to the UA for testing the combination?

I remember it on the C64. They where able to make the hyperdrive malfunction so a misjump happens. Maybe the UA can help enabling such a misjump to Thargoid space on some way by manipulating your hyperdrive?

i think its more likely that its a combination of both, or just the Sap 8.
My guess is, that the UA is just a communicator since it uses Thargoid-Morse to tell us what our planets are named, so it basically translates from our ships computer into thargoid.
And since the mission text called the sap8 a map, i think that this is they key to trigger the "missjump".
Both would be needed, so that they dont end with someone who cant understand them and shoots, so that it ends as it has ended when they entered our space and tried to communicate...

So I was wondering, how does one even find these? Do they show up as contacts during supercruise? And how dangerous is it to scoop them up? Just in case I run into one.. I'd prefer it not starting to melt my ship 5k ly from home :)

Question for those that video theese things. Do the ua "turn" off ambient sounds or just drowns them. Cause im sitting in debug mode now and getting ALOT of sounds (deep space)

Welcome back CMDR!
Now please can someone of the UA bearer temporary lend it to CMDR Zenith, to test te famous sap 8 + UA + Crystal mission?
If he breaks it, he pays it ;)

I totally agree with you friend!

That is a good point

Yes it is.

Someone asked earlier if their FSD had ever failed. I wasn't in hyper-space only SC but mine failed* when I was avoiding an Interdiction. Plopped me out into normal space; don't know if this helps.

The module itself was on about 92% health at the time.

*Can't remember the exact message that popped up though.

Starship 1 disappeared also because of a misjump.

To add some speculation: The transmission is from or regarding starship 1. Somebody want to show us where to find them (the map from the SAP8) and the UA can be used to get there (misjump?)

do we have any informations if they had those artifacts with them?
Maybe they are allready there, have met the thargoids, and the thargoids are simply calling for more "worthy commanders"?

I'm not in a position to try at the moment but the quickest way to attempt a misjump is probably to load toxic waste into a sidey, possibly with some field maintenance units to repair modules other than the FSD and keep jumping (and refueling)

I read the UA has the same effect as toxic waste?

The more I think the better the idea of a misjump gets for me.

Once these last 2 are gone something will happen.

Why are you assuming the UAs that Ratking and mrtree have are the last two? There is no evidence that posters here are the only players with UAs. IMO it is very likely that other players who haven't seen this thread (and probably don't even know this forum exists) have UAs. If there is even one more UA out there then letting the two we have destroy themselves would be a huge mistake: we wouldn't have even tested your theory and we'd have no UAs left.

From a meta point of view it makes no sense that FD would set up a trigger that would require all players to coordinate their actions; the chances of that happening are very low. What would happen if someone had a UA on their ship and stopped playing? Mystery progress blocked indefinitely? It's also illogical from a game point of view. We can let our UAs go, but about those that have been sold? What justification is there for assuming that those UAs have been destroyed?
