I can't believe the guild subject is so controversial! I've never played an mmo without some sort of guild system.
So, lay this on me again, marketing the cause is ballot-stuffing?
I asked Ziggy this but we seem to have a communication barrier; why are more votes bad provided they are from individual, actual players? What is wrong with reddit and their community that makes them so reviled?
Also, the vote was pretty meaningless in the first place, as are most lets be fair. I've had a decent read of most peoples opinions which has been interesting, but I never expected to learn anything from the vote.
Those could actually be players who never use the forum. The question is can FD figure that out?
Ok, if you say that is the case.
Please quote me where I claim people from reddit coming here and voting is inherently bad.
And after you fail to do so, since I never said nor implied such things, do you now see what I mean with putting words in my mouth?
Which begs the question, why the new thread and poll?
Which made a shift towards "yes" after being linked on reddit by the way. How unexpected![]()
Yep, and this thread has been linked from reddit an hour ago.
Gee wiz, I wonder what happens next.
Captured for posterity

We do know there are 3 threads advertising this thread by a player who supports guilds.
We do know since the thread was advertised on reddit, the voting behaviour changed radically.
We do know Yaffle spotted an immense increase in new accounts who only voted in this poll.

Under 1000 votes against a playerbase of 640,000+ is a trivially small sample size, so the results (regardless of the outcome) are statistically insignificant.
FD can easily determine how many of the votes come from users/associated email addresses that don't own the game (even I could do it using simple SQL queries and a spreadsheet).
The only way a poll with ANY meaning could be done would be a 'vote once' option after logging into the launcher. However, I doubt FD will bother to do this, as they've already indicated that guilds are not something they are interested in adding to the game.
BTW - I voted for no guilds or player-owned stations.
It's rigged because of the massive swing in the opposite direction in such a short space of time.
And no, it doesn't happen on fair and properly run elections ... and when it does it happen in elections, people do rightly call out the fairness of the vote.
Do I really have to find examples of vote rigging to debate this with you?
This poll ... which is about something that will never be implemented into this game ... is worthless.
... I suspect player base is significantly less than number of copies sold.....
...At least the polls before this were representative of the people who gave enough of a damn to talk about the game and its features here, FD's home, whether representative of the off-site mass or not.
