Guilds in elite would make me sad . Not sure I could continue on .
Nope not at all, I see no harm in that as long as every guild player is in a separate version of Open in which they only ever see other guild players. If they choose to play in solo, group or "normal open" their guild tag is not visible, and they have no guild comms - just the same ones everyone else has.
And what is that meant to archieve ? I haven't heard any argument that makes sense against it, but I might have missed it (not going to dig through 50+ pages). The least thing I expect from an MMO is a way to form groups and socialise. What you are advertising is a FPS in space and be done with it.
It's simply meant to achieve guild vs guild gameplay - so guilds can't seal-club single players or wings of 4 in normal-open. If you want to play Facebook Gangs in Space, you'll have to deal with other Facebook Gangs in Space - and all the little tiddly fish pottering around shouldn't be visible to you and disrupt your emergent guild gameplay.
I think the "STARTS A POLL TO GET GUILDS IN ELITE DANGEROUS" kind of explains everything. No bias here folks! Calling it an official poll is the fraud bit IMO, but calling on Le Reddit Army to turn up in droves does seem a little shady too.
(I'm surprised this was allowed to proceed, to be honest, but having opinions on moderation here is a one-way ticket to Bansville, so I'd better leave it at that.)
You are assuming, that guilds could build up larger groups than wings in space, something I never said. I get tired of having to use outside the game tools and change the active window everytimg I want to organise something.
The problem with online polls is that they don't get an actual cross section of the population. They get people who happen to visit that site/page/whatever and that portion could be very different from the population at large. This is even more true for comment threads.
You also have to consider the overall plan for ED. There are certain things from both a design point of view and a resources (coding time etc) point of view that they won't or can't do.
So whatever the outcome of the poll is, it may not reflect the actual feeling and FDev may not go through with it.
If they don't, they aren't be evil, or ignoring their base. They are producing a certain kind of game. That game won't please everyone.
So what do they care about? What do they want to urm, erm, do? What is the reason for them wanting to exist? What can groups not achieve in-game with things as they stand? How would implementing guilds benefit Elite?

So just rename Wings to Guilds then - problem immediately solved.
Why call them guilds in the first place? We are not craftsmen or merchants, necessarily. EVE calls them corporations. And aren't we already in the Pilots Federation?

In the thread there is a particularly ingenious solution. When someone plays solo, they still show up in the normal universe with everyone in open. BUT they are a different color on the radar. They can't be targeted or anything. They can still chat with open players too!
Just think how more alive the universe would be!
still miss any arguement that actually makes sense beside the frightening of the lone wolves)
I'm not sure why you are putting all the blame on him.
I made the reddit post that got to the front page. His got unfairly downvoted during the night. I posted it again in the morning as I believed it would of interest to the reddit community (considering reddit was the influence that spawned the poll in the first place) and it gained traction.
Admittedly the "official" part was a mistake. It was meant to convey that it was a poll conducted using the forum software rather than the external "strawpolls" people post all the time. Unfortunately once you make a reddit post you can't edit the title. Apologies to anyone that felt misled.
I'm pretty sure that the "big thing" they talked about for PC and Mac will be guilds. Don't quote me on that.
I am the criminal mastermind behind the greatest voter fraud in the universe!
Nope - you were simply their tool![]()
How are you so sure that none of the new accounts were for the no vote?
Yes a PvP opt in flag would be the best implementation. Unfortunately FD needed to reinvent the wheel... guess what, round is best.
