Sorry if all this is obvious but I thought a focused recap might be useful. Feel free to add/subtract from the list.

Anyone wants to add me - CMDR Kyp Shard

Wonderful recap, Kyp, it's always good to sum up things this way.

BTW, in the last 48 hours, we've been talking about the Purrs, "my" possible hidden morse code in the UA background sound, the Orca theory, we had the Daygobah "plague"...

It's Cmdr Zenith Ddraiglas and I added you back a night or 2 ago. :)
Currently heading in the direction of Polaris.

I'm just in Wredguia PC-G-B39-2 which seems to be closest to Polaris. So in case you need a hand (DBX, open, but exploration outfit now) - I send you a friend request.

There is nothing directly at its coordinates - although as mentioned earlier a couple of the four systems you were interested in are sort of close to where it should be, so it is possible one of those is the "new" Liaququ. This seems to have happened with another old system which is believed to exist under a different name in ED (although according to my source, it kept the same coordinates).

Perhaps the entire system got eaten by the anomality :)

Just had a stray thought enter my head - don't dolphins communicate by chittering? Wasn't there an FFE mission about an intelligent Dolphin that you had to carry as a passenger somewhere? (Heading back to journals to check).

Edit: You'll never believe what world you had to take the dolphin from:

JUNIOR SWIMS ALONE

M.C.S
'Junior' the intelligent dolphin from the sea-world of New California (Liaququ) has been wowing the visitors in his new home town of Edmunds on the planet Tracy (Fawaol 2,-3). The rustic rural farmers of the agri-land got bored with just quadrupeds and grass and built themselves a water-world where they can go see what the fish look like in their real habitat rather than just on a plate in the most expensive restaurants the planet has got (Crazy Mazy's on 52nd Street - serves grilled Terran Trout at 2,000 credits a bite - but it's not one we'd recommend).
Junior was shipped in a month or two ago and, according to the management of the Liaquarium, has just about settled in to the new home. WE say that dolphins are mega-intelligent super-beings and they should be left to swim in the HUGE ocean with loads of other cute cestacians, and they SHOULDN'T be stuck all alone in a nasty big tank.
JUNIOR IS LONELY!!
We at RIG think he should be given a swimming mate to play with IMMEDIATELY (one of the hairy farmers perhaps) and that a real dolphinian friend should be brought in immediately (or as soon as they can afford one).
What do YOU think?? If enough of us mail them, they'll HAVE to do something NOW.
SO get your fingers out and get mailing - and tell them where you heard it first.

JUNIOR TO GET A FRIEND

M.C.S
Junior the dolphin, imported from the glorious sea world of New California (Liaququ) to amuse the rural hicks in downtown Edmunds on Tracy (Fawaol 2,-3) is to get a friend to keep her company.
Our swimmy friend was the subject of a recent RIG editorial in which we reminded the citizens of Tracy that their duty as life-loving, law-abiding humanoids was not being served by keeping a fellow member of an intelligent species in solitary isolation.
Literally thousands of outraged RIG subscribers boycotted the entire system, refusing to buy any produce of Tracian origin (which includes the delicious smoked TracHam and the TracHorse-hide coats both of which make huge profits for the farmers overseas) and war-mailing the CEO of the Liaquarium on Austen's Haven in an effort to force a change in management policy.
And, as ever with a RIG crusade - IT WORKED!!!
Junior's friend will be arriving from Liaququ just as soon as the transport ship can get here. We trust that they will enjoy a long and happy life together.

If the UAs are the cause of the outbreak, then why haven't there been outbreaks in the numerous systems (and within the, at least one, station) where our UA carriers have released them?

The outbreaks are being scripted by FD to give a story for a bunch of CGs, and possibly more besides. If you make the UAs the cause, then you place the outbreaks in the hands of the players who carry them - which clearly hasn't happened.

I see your point. One way to look at that could be that those crazy scientists were scienceing the heck out of it in a lab, either in a station or on a planet's surface which we players can't do yet. Maybe they forced some poor citizen to snort the spores or whatever, and boom. All we've done is carry them around in ships. We've had no contact directly with any other living thing.

It's more likely (but still quite unlikely) the UAs could be part of the solution to the outbreak - but if they are we'd have to wait for FD to add that state to the story I think.

Yep, could be either way - cause or cure.

Just gonna randomly plonk this in - perhaps the ua is something in pupae stage? A thargoid? A Thargoid ship? Their ships are bio type affairs, according to Kerrash, and these things evidently have some kind of nav as they echo back the morse signature of the nearest celestial object. Perhaps they have to mature in the right conditions.

Ooh, or a bio engineered container for dolphins!

Oh, and SAP8. It contains a crystal that holds map data. So the ua maybe needs map data upload somehow.

Hints in Wings trailer;
- Ishmael - Moby - Leviathan.
- California sector - New California
- Cmdr Jameson - Jameson's Rock
- Sephirius - a butter fly.
- Vengar - Spanish for avenge.
- Leonard Nimoy - another Leviathan hint.

/

Expounding on this a bit ...

I think there is some background to the Names they chose - I would imagine that they are referencing literary figures who fit the bill for the type of story they are giving - A mix of Moby , Treasure Island , and Elite ...

Also add Cmdr Flint - one of the opposing Viper Commanders. Who reminds me of RL Stevensons - Captain Flint
The Cmdr Vengar fits into the Vengance theme of Moby

I would say that the Cmdr Jameson who saved the day would be a nod to the original Elite Cmdr. Jameson

As to the California Sector HW-W C1-7 .....

I give you Treasure Island CA the intersection of H street and California

Its an old firehouse ... [EDIT] - I forgot to mention its on PAN AM terminal land - good ole 2001 connection :)

Awwww! :(
Nilreb and I were at Wredguia WT-I d9-51 not long ago.
I've got a video clip which I'll upload later.

I think BD-05 4401 is right in the middle of them, isnt it?

Also: dont know if thats a new one, but it doesnt contain any new informations

But the title is interesting...
The silent song of the spheres...

Edit:
They are close, and inside their triangle is the previous (first) outbreak star, BD-02 4304. There look to be a couple of other stars in the triangle, Alrai sector KC-V C2-10, BD-05 4401 & HR 6372, maybe hopping between these systems will cause something to happen (hoping for a drop in to Witch space as per Elite...).
just noticed this post while i was searching for 4401 (to know if it was mentioned somewhere before)

I remember a Star Trek next generation episode "Tim Man". Don't know the name of the system it took place in, but, it that same system is Ingame, maybe taking a UA to that system.... Grasping at straws now:)

@Derthek:

Ugh, internet here is so bad I can't reply with quote,, asynch web stuff just times out XD

Bit of a "suck eggs" question, but do you remember if the purrs etc were in similar quantities e.g groups of 5-7,, and the chittering was still "present"?

Another bit of an aside, but I've read the posts about people trying to find "other" morse. I don't think this is a bad idea, but I wouldn't go looking too closely for really hidden morse.

A few people have asked "Why would the UA be transmitting the nearest location in morse?"... sidestepping some of the lore aspects and looking at this more from a "game dev" perspective, I'd suggest that it's doing that to "give us a starting point" for finding the same noises elsewhere. Whether that's from the UA itself or from somewhere else, I have no idea.

Anyone who's good at listening to these things will understand what I mean when I say the chittering is more "based off morse" rather than being actual morse. Recognising this has let us produce an alphabet. So, we've now got the means to find these sounds elsewhere and decode them. Keeping it simple for a moment, we've been told we're close. So to me that means a couple things... either;

1. We've spotted the morse and have a dictionary, now we need to find those chittering sounds being emitted elsewhere, whether that's somewhere else in the UA noises, or somewhere completely different. We decode it, and that's our next step; or

2. We've been taking the UA to all sorts of different places and putting it with different items. I don't know what might suggest what those right items or correct places are, but if that's the right path, we might get some chittering that's different or some sort of occurence, and again that's our next step,, sticking with the idea that we need to have discovered that alphabet before hearing this new stuff.

Just putting some thoughts out there. It's annoying I can't help out more at the moment...

@Jmanis

I don't remember the event 100% but as far as we were concerned there was absolutely no difference. Same reoccurring honks and chitters as before.

I think it would be a good idea for some one to double check this, though.

Good thinking! I recall saying yesterday that I thought I recognised some of the sound of the ua (a high frequency set of notes; bitstorm recorded a flute rendition) in the sound of witch space. Does anyone know of any witch space recording out there to analyse?

That long shot aside, I like the idea of keeping our ears open. In terms of codes etc, and the hint for us to listen to them, we need a rosetta stone badly.

Nice job! Has the UA and/or SAP8 been taken there, does anyone know?

IRC this is the system where the plague started - and spread to the others - so no need to triangulate that - was on Galnet...

Initial outbreak was on BD-02 4304

[h=3] Security Support Needed For Cerberus Plague Intervention[/h] Security Support Needed For Cerberus Plague Intervention

With increasing reports concerning the so-called ‘Cerberus Plague’, officials from Dajoar, Eleu and 20 Ophiuchi have all declared states of emergency. They are calling on bounty hunters and combat-capable pilots in the region help protect the relief efforts.

The issue arises at the same time that some medics in the systems have stated that the vaccines are not proving as effective against these cases, leading to speculation that the organism has mutated. Carl Simmons, the Chief Medical Officer of Newton Dock and leading the medical team combating this infection, commented:

“While there are some indications that the organism has changed, we are still analysing the data and it is too early to draw any conclusions.”

Further muddying the waters, a representative for one of the pirate gangs claimed that they were helping the right people. In an anonymous statement, they declared:

“As usual it is the rich and well-connected that benefit from official channels. We are simply making sure that these supplies reach the people who need them the most.”

[h=3]Reports of the Cerberus Plague beyond BD-02 4304[/h] Reports of the Cerberus Plague beyond BD-02 4304

The heroic efforts of the local authorities at Newton Dock in BD-02 4304, combined with independent pilots from far and wide, have slowed the outbreak affecting the local population.

Carl Simmons, the Chief Medical Officer of Newton Dock, responded to reports of further infections in the nearby systems: Dajoar, Eleu and 20 Ophiuchi.

“We can confirm that there have been isolated incidents which we believe are the same infectious agent that we have seen here on Newton Dock. The populations in those systems should not be alarmed and three operations have been initiated to isolate the sick and prevent further outbreak.”

When asked how the disease had spread to those systems, he replied:

“We can’t confirm the vector as yet. Our current belief is that these cases are simply people from here who managed to travel before restrictions were in place. However, as with any outbreak of this magnitude, we are not taking anything for granted.”

He concluded his statement with:

“Once again we are calling on the resources of the independent pilots in the region to help ensure that these cases do not develop into a full-blown outbreak as seen here on Newton Dock.”

While he denied that the team were calling the new disease the Cerberus Plague, one technician did confirm that the name was being used unofficially and came from an unusual three-pronged structure at the ‘head’ of the phage-like organism.
