Pirates and Traders

I don't think they've done much in the way of balancing and have just pressed on with the new features. Pretty much everything is bare bones in this game right now and none of the professions have the tools or game mechanics to support them properly.

As I've said before they can't change them without adding in proper low/high security space and making anarchy systems viable. Pretty much overhauling the whole background sim.

Pretty much until then piracy is always going to be "stop within 5 seconds or die".
Im agreeing with distance here at the moment the stop or die method seems to be the only effective pirating strategy as the people saying to use non lethal methods are normally very annoying to pull off for just a small amount of cargo.

I run with minimal shields. Don't need em, but I take them with me as a precautionary measure. I also have Reinforced Hull Armour, again, precautionary. I've got chaff launchers and Point Defense. All precautionary.

As a trader. I don't have a problem giving you some cargo, let me know your intention b4 trying to interdict. I'm going to make you pull me out and I'm not going to abandon cargo, you should have to work too. Most importantly, be civil and understand most tradeship commanders just assume you guys are all psychopaths that want to watch our time invested burn. IT'S UP TO YOU TO PROVE US WRONG. And leave the noobs alone, tough enough learning curve.

If I interdict you, dont try to run. In a Cobra fitted with a wake scanner and an A grade FSD there is no point. Once you see me, drop your cargo and I'll let you go. If not i'm going to leave you disabled and let the limpets open your hatch for me.

A pirate is a pirate.... Im a merciful one, but you shouldn't expect that from most. Running will only anger us, and leave you open to any form of punishment.

Perhaps people see "mostly harmless" and expect I wont be able to track them down. Traders, please dont be foolish. Or dont travel popular trade routes. Simple as that..

Indeed that is a sad choice for a ship. But tis the life of a pirate. No wonder some of them kill they are so frustrated about not having the funds to get good ships. And some to lazy to actually earn from hard work ( grind ) picking on unarmed civilians isn't work, it's sad.

That being said its part of the game. And there is a place for pirates. But not murderers. And its time frontier does something about it. Simple if you murder a player, that isn't wanted, you pay their insurance cost why should they 1, lose all their cargo 2, their ship, 3, their credits 4, all the time they put into earning all of this. Just cause some player feels like murdering. This should not be accepted by any of us. Everyone of us had the right to play this in open. Ppl keep saying go to solo, no I paid to play with my friends and family. I shouldn't have to leave this experience cause some ppl want to by crazy.

I'll give my cargo, especially cause my t9 costs 4 million and its so slow, so don't shoot, just ask and I'll go my way.

Sorry mavrac but I cannot fully agree with your views.

I want to enjoy this game without any morals and preaching.
I want to enjoy the game how it was intended.
One week i may be a trader, next I may be a smuggler, next I may be a pirate.
I want to enjoy a whole bunch of trades without anyone shoving morals down my throat.
When I chose to trade I welcome pirates to try and take my stuff and when I'm a pirate I hope for a surrender or a fight.
This is what the whole experience is all about.
I don't want to play Little house on the Prairie thank you very much.

If you want to kill there are conflicts, and other means. Fighting bounty hunters etc. But the fact that you make excuses for murder, is disturbing. You don't care about anyone but yourself. You don't care if murder makes someone lose hours of hard grind. Pirating is fine murder is pointless and either shows some serious disturbing deep down issues, or severe immaturity.

Oh he shouldn't have run so I killed him. Sir that is a dysfunctional statement in the most disturbing way. Your excuses for murder and reasons for it are no different than the those that commit horrible crimes in the real world. Saying you want to escape into a world where you want to murder, if you so choose, reminds me of the perfectly ordinary ppl that have gone postal. Ppl that no one ever expected to do so.
But these are clear signs.

blah blah blah mavrac.
take Laura Ingall out on a date for God's sake.
You have preached your morals all over this forum.
I will play this game (Yes it is a game) how I choose and within the developers rules.
I will not listen to moralistic rubbish about a game I paid for and be told how I should play it.

I am actually signing up to join the fuel rats when I get back from vacation so I am willing to help others out but I am also willing to have a bit of fun without having tosh shoved down my throat.

Severe immaturity it is then. Smoke and mirrors. That's all you're doing with your supposed good. Though my guess is you'll just take advantage of the poor sob that ran out of fuel for your own gain..

I paid for this game too. Bub. So guess you have the right to ruin my gaming experience because you're disturbed. Nice. I'm sure you're a very honorable person in real life someone who is a humanitarian. I can see that from your responses. My apologies I was mistaken...

These posts will continue to pop up. And not by me, nor have I started one. But the noisy wheel gets the grease and in time it will get what is right. For the greater good, and not the minority of murderers. Enjoy your vacation sir

At this point I'm hoping for your sake mavrac that your role-playing because now your just attacking pirates by saying their immature or have a mental health issues your kinda making a *** of yourself not only that its really cringey. You should just relax from all the pirate hating and let people do their own thing in a game which encourages you to become anything.

Idk dude. I like the asp too, but some people can do some serious stuff in a cobra. Have you ever watched that isinona guy on pc? He uses a cobra and a viper with F/A off all the time and does some wild stuff in pvp with them.

I really hope you try to interdict my asp running rares.

You will be up for a treat :D

I think people over estimate the Asp.. Everyone thinks that THEIR ship is the BEST ship.. I think that its only half the equation. If the pilot is bad the ship is bad.

I'll have try and find that man. Sounds interesting.
I suppose once the game gets going for real on xb1 there's going to be some young kid in a sidewinder kick my old timer ass
Yeah I can see each ship has its good and bad points, just got to figure them out I suppose

I usually kill all the traders
your words
this is why any player we see wanted we don't ask why we just kill
this is why we hunt pirates
we don't wait for you to fly around wanted aimlessly we wait for you to interdict a trader and follow and while your busy we kill
we don't like doing this but well we don't like thief's,

ask yourself say you take thirty tons and i interdict you and say give me what you stole. you going to give it to me or run or fight? there is your answer

The biggest issue with you PIRATES is that most of you're murderers. This is whats messing the community up and creating a rift and lots of frustrated players. This is pirates doing and things need to change

A great fix to stop murderers

If player A is not wanted and player B kills player A (murder) than the full cost (insurance) and (cargo) should come out of the murderers pocket. Its pretty messed up that these ppl go around murdering other players and get a pretty sad bounty on their heads. While the person that was murdered has to pay for their ship when they didn't do anything but be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sure all you pirates won't agree but if i find one of you and we spawn kill you over and over how upset will you finally get.

So said Harry Callahan...

You forget that most pirates scan ships and their subsystems in supercruise before pulling them out. Pirates are going for poorly equipped ships and wouldn't dream of pulling over a combat ship like a vulture.

A cobra is more than capable of pirating with the added bonus that it can escape from anything other than a clipper or another cobra.

Very valid point there bud.

I tend to sympathize with the pirates in discussions like this. They're the ones who's chosen a low-moderately profitable career with significant risk, while traders have the hugely profitable low-risk careers. It seems to me that more piracy would help balance the scales of risk-reward (though also drive more traders into solo mode; unfortunate mechanic).

Until Frontier fixes the combat logging i suggest all traders stop acting like spoiled kids.
