Thanks for making me play Solo PP FD

Sorry for my ignorance, but how do you do that? High wake ?

Jump to another system instead og back to supercruise.

FSD charging time t supercruise is faster though, but jumping to other system is not currently affected by mass-lock (which is werid, sounds like a bug, or an oversight).

There is no mass lock for hyperspace jumps.

Taken from the Manual.......

"PERFORM A HYPERSPACE JUMP

...............Mass Lock: Like preparing for super cruise, before you can engage the frame shift drive
you must ensure that your ship is not mass locked by a large structure such as a starport or
outpost. Your ship’s mass lock status is displayed on the Pilot’s Interface, to the right of your
ship schematic.
If the mass lock indicator is lit, you will need to travel away from the entity that is mass locking
you using the ship’s conventional drive until the indicator light goes out."

That's not true then?

Sorry OP I can't offer anything on this but i did want to say that I think the attitude of some of the players in this thread is disgusting.

Solo = kiddie mode, Solo = Easy mode... Please, grow up and let people enjoy the game the way they want to. Personally I avoid open play due to the attitude of some players but I do not feel the need to come tot he forums and call them names, I am better than that, shame some of you are not.

Because Dangerous is a RANK not because the game is hard.

Yes it's a rank but the word used for that rank has a particular meaning.
There are lots of ranks but they didn't choose to call it Elite:Harmless or even Elite: Deadly.
Presumably they chose dangerous because it conveys something about the nature of the galaxy.

The devs confirmed this is working as intended. Personally I think it's fine, too... If there's no chance to win a fight, there should be at least a chance to escape. If hyperjumps were subject to mass-inhibition then being interdicted by a wing would be a certain death sentence for even the most skilled commander.

I hate to rain on your parade OP, but I had an NPC Python do the same thing to me.
One second interdiction and the Python was in no mood to talk. Toughest NPC I've encountered with good weapons to boot.
So good luck in solo

Me too! And I wasn't aware that hyperspace had no mass lock at that time either!

Had the insta-interdict a few times and have the feeling it's not just a bug?

No, it's not a bug. You can do the same thing to NPCs. Interdictions complete when you get within a certain distance of the target, so you just fly right at someone and start the interdiction at the last minute and BAM! surprise interdiction!

Not quite.

According to FD the word "Dangerous" refers to the Elite Federation Pilot rating you need to attain before they will consider you to join their ranks, usually by means of a mission. As it stands the only way to gain membership is to reach Elite, but the intention was to add in extra "missions" and what have you to allow you to join early. FD have not implemented this yet, but the meaning behind the name of the game remains : nothing to do with inherent risk (though it might be an appropriate word non the less)

Actually it was the Op who started referring to solo as "easy mode". It was actually his point when opening this thread,he said that FD was "making" him play solo because he felt it was easier:

Yes, because I can do the same with zero amount of risk. If I want max rewards with a very slim chance of failure then I am "made" to play the game in Solo mode. One definition of made is to be assured of success or fortune. A made man for example. I am not guaranteed success or fortune in Open so I am "made" to play in solo.

Yes, but the proposed entry rank chosen just happened to be a nice marketable word full of suggestion?
If they had decided to make that entry point lower do you really think they would have named the game Elite : Competent?

Moderator edited my last post in this tread, im sorry if someone think it was an insult, that was not the idea.
That was a coloquial phrase used where i live that means... dont know how to say it in english... like «come on guy and be brave, or want to play with little girls?» BUT IN A FINE CONVERSATION BETWEEN FRIENDS. Not an insult at all.

My apologies if someone read it another way, this is an international forum and not everyone write english perfectly.

You're not in a private room with friends here; you're on the Internet, a public place.

Even referring to players as "little girls" is demeaning.

I think that solo should eat 30% of your profits to balance things out. At the moment you an take less risk for equal reward (play solo). There should be a choice: 1. Less risk = less reward 2. More reward = more risk. I'm not saying that solo should be punished or discouraged but at the moment the balance is tipped in favour of solo, I'm only talking about redressing this.

You're right, you should be able to escape that situation quite easily, the fact that you didn't however is your own fault. And anyway, I like open BECAUSE it's risky, because I play to have fun, not just win all the time. The fact that you lost should be motivation to change how you play, improve yourself maybe.

Man, open is a cakewalk anyway, I can't even remember the last time I was killed. please.

A diamondback and an Anaconda? That doesn't exactly sound like a player wing.

There was a Diamondback/Conda wing in the system I was undermining last night. Not everybody hangs with the cool kiddies flying fotm wings, some people just get together to do stuff and fly what they enjoy. Remarkable, I know.

Actually, it's having private modes that have allowed the rich to become as rich as they and fluctuate between modes with enough fire power to go around annihilating new players. If this game was 'open' only, there's be far less grinding in type 9's and sure, you'd get players attacking you still, but most likely in smaller ships. There are players with billions who have done the whole thing in open, however, they started when there were far less players in open, and albeit it being harder to make money at first, 1.2 was extremely easy for making big money.

If this game was 'open' only..

Then there was a lot less players..or even maybe Elite Kickstarter failed...since Elite was backed a lot by "Old gamers" who do not care about Open play - all that "Social gaming" that is popular nowadays ;)

Solo, private and Open modes are excellent design choice everybody can select what they want to play!

Indeed, I used to be in favour of the way modes worked despite playing predominantly open unless my connection was crapping out. As the game has developed it's become more and more apparent that FD have been unable to give us content which is not rendered almost totally meaningless by mode switching.

I'm an 'old gamer' ;) Mode switching is a nice idea, but not when the content and mechanics they put into the game are at odds with it. PP and community goals made this very apparent.
