Are people really not doing comunity goals?

Are the listed numbers right, are CGs dead?

The most likely demographic to do CGs are those who follow Galnet and like the whole BGS. People in that demographic are also the ones who are most likely to participate in powerplay.

If they are pledged to a power then travelling to do a CG is going to be problematic. Furthermore, they'll be off the powerplay hamster wheel and their merit decay will kick in. I think you've possibly uncovered yet another flaw in the powerplay model.

I have to disagree. That is certainly one appropriate demographic, but there is at least one other. For example, I know many commanders personally who used to be avid CG participants but are not participating in current ones, nor are they engaged in Powerplay at all.

Where are they now? They have been so switched off by Powerplay, without ever pledging, that either (a) they have significantly reduced their in-game time, or (b) they have gone out exploring for weeks on end, or (c) both. One or two or them spend more time here in-forum than in-game, but I fear many in the (a) group are lost forever.

I don't mean bounty hunting pve CGs, I mean warzone CGs where it's possible to find pvp with friends and enemies in one place. Those CGs are great fun and would bring a ton of cmdrs out of the woodwork.

Option (D) they have reduced their in game time because they are very annoyed/angered by reputation decay (not merit decay)
Option (E) they have reduced their in game time because of changes to bounty and fine system that overly punish any mistake
Option (F) they got bored

Dead in the water just like power play will be once folks wake up to the awful decay and waste of our time.
Aagain... FD knows of the issues and does nothing as the poison works it's way to the heart.

All of the above.
Decay is so 1990's, no game kept that crappy mechanics.

Because the CGs have been crap since 1.3

For the millionth time...WE NEED ANOTHER LUGH.
Yes Lugh was certainly popular with the group of commanders I know personally in real-life. But then so were all of the other types of CG. We would vie with each other with exploration goals as well as help each other with bounty hunting and trading goals. It was a good time: a very good time.

Sadly, I don't think another Lugh would help. At least it wouldn't help for those more experienced pre-1.3 commanders. Perhaps it would for the newer ones. But I fear we've lost too many of the old guard forever.

I went to Dajoar last night tooled up to see if I could kill any blockers or general baddies and the place was deserted. There were a couple of newbie's passing through but that was it. I hung around for ages and passed the time interdicting wanted NPC's and doing a few small local missions, but nothing.

Such a shame.

CG and PP really have no relevance to why, how, nor when I play Elite: Dangerous personally.

The only reason I do not really play it Solo is because I like to play the game with a certain group of people.

CQC will similarly have no impact on my play time.

The only reason I may pledge at some point in PP is to get certain kit, but even then the vanilla kit may suit me better overall.

Yeah its a ghost town out there at the moment.

I flew into 34 Pegasi loaded with Imperial Slaves trying to get robbed and it was dead. No pirates, no PvP, nothing.

They need to bring the community back together with a big one system conflict.

Code is at back Leesti so at least you can head over to the old worlds for some action

actually perhaps its time to implement small scale local community goal that can make small changes to the background sim state, new stations or other things at a local level rather than big bang things ( and it goes in the general direction of more dispersal that goes with powerplay)

I agree. I love some of the CG's. Not all as not all suit my play style, but I would never expect to like all. What I would like are many smaller regional CG's that would affect single systems - irrelevant of PP (as not all play it). Maybe CG's pitting one system against another - i.e first to complete affects the second system. Not sure how they could do it, but I have really enjoyed some of the CG's before.

Since apparently no one so far has actually answered the question: no, the numbers listed here in the active CG thread are not correct. I'm signed up for both CGs in 20 Oph, and while I can't remember the concrete number of contributors, there are at least several hundreds of CMDRs who signed up.

The problem with the current CGs is that they seem to be completely unattainable, by having ridiculously high requirements for success and apparently no intermediate tiers.

I don't think demographics have much to do with this. There are 6 CGs right now, each one displays the following statistics:

Current Contributors: 6
Current Global Progress: 1,000 Credits Earned
Current Reward Tier: Tier 0
Current Global Reward: None

That seems too uniform to represent any sort of demographic spread. Looks more like boilerplate (though why claim 6 contributors for each?) And its been like that since yesterday. So either the counters are bust or perhaps NO ONE is playing.
