Sarah moved from current project, update no longer coming?

I liked Sarah JA - she was honest and had a dark sense of humour, plus her work on the AI helped the game immensely - a working docking computer anyone ? :)

What ever you are working on now I hope you enjoy it as much as you did with your minions.

Lots of speculation and waste of words in this thread.

Only thing for sure is that she was one of the few bright spots in communication from FD on the forums and, apparently, won't be posting here any more and that's a shame for us. Best wishes SJA.

I see no reason to assume she is permanently barred from posting. She has probably been moved onto the super secret Gamescom thing, and, like everyone else is not allowed to talk about it at the moment.

I just hope she escapes reasonably unscathed from the management response to her tweets. If one of my programmers had done that, I would be looking for a book to throw at them.

First of all, was it stated that she would be unable to respond any more? I don't think so. (Unless I'm missing something...?)

Secondly, she might have been the most active dev on the forums, yes, but she tended to only answer people who demanded more difficulty with "yes, it'll be more difficult" or variations of thereof. Any concerns or criticisms were left unanswered.

I never suggested she would be unable to participate in the forums; only that her reassignment deprives us of a part of the forums that were truly enjoyable.

All I have to say is thank you Sarah for your work enthusiasm and openesss on the forum. It was a ray of sunshine and one of the things that kept me thinking that ED might not be going down the tubes. Was looking forward to interesting AI improvements and thought the direction it seemed to be going in was good, unlike most of the other indicators of where ED is going.
Good luck and what you did was definitely not wasted.

Reason for the (justified) dogpiling on FD doesn't require any assumptions.
.
Fact: SJA is responsive to the community in a way that no other FD Dev is; she is witty, engages with the community and responds to feedback actively and in an informed way.
.
Fact: No other FD Dev even comes close to her in any of the above ways.
.
Conclusion: 'Reassigning' her (for lack of a better word) deprives us of the only truly end-user responsive dev, by all accounts against her will.
.
These facts alone, absent any need for speculation as to the rationale or cause of her 'reassignment' is justification enough for community outrage.

This man needs rep, STAT!

Well its not the end of the world, its not like the AI is completely broken, it used to be a lot worse.

I bet she's going to work on something interesting now, and she's good at what she does so its a win/win.

Its too soon to jump into conclusions, Im sure we'll know more details with the upcoming dev updates/gamescon.

PS:If you think the AI is too easy, maybe its time to unequip those SCB's for PvE.
PS2: This doesn't mean she'll stop interacting with the community, she just has another task now.

Xoxo,
CMDR Salad

Mmm, a lynching.

When you wear an official badge, you're responsible for following the communications policy of your company and sometimes that means not having as much fun as you want to have teasing and taunting your clients. Sadly, I know at times some of the stuff SJA posted crossed lines placed in contracts I've been forced to stay within in my own professional life. That fact may not be popular but it's there nonetheless. All that said, nobody here knows a single truth about what is happening internally and the hyperbole and pitchforks going on here helps nobody do anything.

I want to express my sympathies to SJA for losing a responsibility that she clearly cared for a lot, and wish her the best for whatever future roles she takes on. She's clearly talented and whatever she works on will almost certainly benefit from her skills.

Apart from when she said several times she was making the lower levels easier.

Once again it seems on the communication front FD manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory..

And what about the genius of the Docking Computer? Is that gone now as well?

Dude, seriously? Take a breath and step outside, you're getting way too emotional over a computer game.

They're not going to remove already-released production code because of an internal change in development priorities.

When you off treat your star developer like that, it's not long before they jump ship...

OK. There's not jumping to conclusions, there's not knowing the whole picture (yes, whatever code SJA was working on may not have played nicely with other code, had some killer bug, or couldn't be made to fit in time for 1.4 and needed to be postponed for the big gamescon thing - we just don't know), but better AI and variety of AI skill ranks was one of the things I, (and a lot of other people I believe) were looking forward to. She was also the one person who seemed fairly free and enthusiastic in talking about what she was up to as well.
.
This isn't an issue as big as 'offline' gate, but Frontier really do seem to take a couple of steps forward (appointing Zac, Sandro and Michael talking about the background sim), then jump further back and blow their leg off with a shotgun, community relations wise.
.
I humbly ask for a clear statement as to whether the AI improvements are still coming? [yeah ... like that will work... :(]
.
Meh... that's actually put me off playing for the rest of the evening.

No offense guys but reposting her deleted tweets on the official forums is probably not doing her any favors. While it provides a nice source of fuel for our rage, I'm sure it's also annoying her employers. Making her boss angry with her for mistakenly revealing a change in her work focus is not going to help anyone. :(

What on earth are you talking about, man? Who said anything about removing code? We're talking bug fixes and improvements to the DC that SJA promised.

Her posts in the "Dev morale boost" thread (here) have all gone, but you can see some people quoting her in their replies.

It's important that as many people know just how much FDev suck. And really suck.
