Sarah moved from current project, update no longer coming?

No offense guys but reposting her deleted tweets on the official forums is probably not doing her any favors. While it provides a nice source of fuel for our rage, I'm sure it's also annoying her employers. Making her boss angry with her for mistakenly revealing a change in her work focus is not going to help anyone. :(

This. Sarah has been amazing to us. She deleted her tweets. Obviously for a reason. Might be good not to repost them too often.

Mmm, a lynching.

When you wear an official badge, you're responsible for following the communications policy of your company and sometimes that means not having as much fun as you want to have teasing and taunting your clients. Sadly, I know at times some of the stuff SJA posted crossed lines placed in contracts I've been forced to stay within in my own professional life. That fact may not be popular but it's there nonetheless.

It's either that or the house's on fire already from another corner, these are the sole 2 reasons I can image why FD pulled the plug on a project that was already near to its closing.

This might be a serious option for her at this point. She'll have literally thousands of potential referees for her future employer to contact to give opinions on her dedication, effort and results were she to do so.
Employers are always saying that they want developers who have 'excellent communication skills' and who have good customer facing skills.
Well, Sarah can use this forum as concrete evidence for that requirement.
But the other side of the coin is that her twitter feed regarding her employment with FD could well be used against her.
Indeed, FD's own Code of Conduct for employees may have something to say about what they can divulge about their work on any social media etc.
People have to be so careful today; what they say and how they behave.:(

All that said, nobody here knows a single truth about what is happening internally and the hyperbole and pitchforks going on here helps nobody do anything.

I'd agree with you, but we're talking about a video game, not NATOs plans for deploying cruise missiles in Eastern Europe. I know the games industry these days like to keep things very close to their chest and keep everything quiet as if they're working for the defense department, but that's unnecessary and frankly rather condescending of them. They (Frontier) can talk to us about ideas they have for the game, and frankly it'd be better if they did this - we wouldn't end up with (sorry FDev) complete crap like Powerplay or SCBs otherwise.

Perhaps SJA did break their communication policy by actually communicating, listening and talking with us on a human level. What was the result? The only thing most people actually liked about 1.3 was the improved AI (along with visual and graphical improvements). All the other stuff, powerplay etc, turned out to be a waste of time.

Like any company they can have any policy they want. Just because they have the right to do so doesn't mean they're right to do so.

They really need to say something about this.

I dont think its a waste , I am very sad for sarah , she was a star. but beyond that the one feature I have been wating for sins my first flight has been removed and may never see the light of day , so combat is going to stay easyer than a ubisoft game

Yes, she was a good presence in the forums from FD, but all the rest is speculation.

I just hope she escapes reasonably unscathed from the management response to her tweets. If one of my programmers had done that, I would be looking for a book to throw at them.

Never heard of disruptive talent? You're a terrible manager! :p ;)

To be fair, she should just quit instead of being shoved around by the Cretins making the decisions at FD (or having books thrown at her by them).

Her posts in the "Dev morale boost" thread (here) have all gone, but you can see some people quoting her in their replies.

I didn't want to go through every page of that thread, but are you saying that she no longer has any posts in that thread? So they're retroactively censoring her? That would be ... well ...

Also, shame FDEV didnt see this community reaction coming. Irrespective of the decision background a popular dev so publicly involved in the forums should have warranted imho a direct communication first preparing the move.

Maybe they did, and there is an office sweepstake to see how many pages it gets to in 24 hours....

There must be reasons, we don't know them, we probably never will, we don't work for FD. As long as we all get to keep on playing Internet Spaceships....

Hello there

Surely if *she* has deleted her tweets, its not for us to keep them uncovered?

The devs will inform us in their own time.

This.

PP is complete and utter garbage. Nobody asked for it, nobody expected it, and nobody wanted it. But they did want a better AI.
