I understand the point of objection, but in my view the positivity of seeing the community unite behind different things outweighs anything else and the point made is coming across as sour grapes.

Let Frontier make the choice, smile when you win or lose and move on.

well said Allen.

for those that say The Mug is breaking the rules, because a rare already exists at Hutton Orbital. Should you honestly be fine with the suggestion if Hutton didn't have a rare already? I've been reading through this thread and it seems to me that the main issues is "it's silly". Yes it is, but so what?

This is a community event and the community is having its say with most people want The Mug. I for one will dust off my Cobra, so I can land at Hutton, and will help in the community goal.

We all need a bit of silliness or levity (this help oppose gravity ;-) ) in our lives.

Can someone explain how "this is purely a vanity item" works for the Hutton mug? We don't have vanity items in ED - are they introducing personal storage or something to cope with this description?

Also - is it a great idea to have a CG based on the most boring journey in the game? While the humour behind it all is fine, the reality of it is that it's about the dullest thing to do in the game - not exactly fun, when you turn the joke into actual gameplay.

I'll be emailing Zac to see what fun we can inject (though last time I followed that philosophy -may I please confirm after pm received NOT WITH ZAC... with my wife... , I became a dad). Suffice to say I will be aiming for a good risk/reward ratio.

Vanity item as the station that buys it sells it to retired commanders who want it to look nice on their desk. Or in a display cabinet.

I.e. it has no intrinsic material value other than artistic.

Re the cg.... think of it as a marathon or tough mudder. Not for everyone, but a real enduro challenge. There are at least 3 commanders currently flying back from Sag A just for this purpose!

Couldn't agree more. Nice joke but a waste of time and development. If people want to go there and pick up a rare item, I do believe there is already one there.

"The poll will close on Sunday 26th July"

not long now on the last remaining votes keep voting for sothis gold folks if u can lets get it into a clear second place, when the devs understand that hutton has broken the rules the sensible choice will go forward. The player group sirius inc i believe has its HQ in sothis and will be very active when sothis gets over the line. I think they stand for mankinds expansion, supporting sirius corporations terraformning projects and maintaining an indepdant stance. And the background simulation is important also for them

Exactly.

What a farce, FDEV.

I think it's great that "THE COMMUITY" has voted for a fun item and I really am chuckling to myself at all of the complaints because their choice didn't win.

Well the poll has spoken if you wanted your item to win then you should have done more to get votes for it.

Also

What is the big deal about Hutton having two Rares??? I can only see it as an advantage at least now it may be worth actually flying there to get them!

And finally

In response to the compalints about the CG being boring.... Don't do it go fly somewhere else, I do however know that there are many pilots who will. (there is quite a big Facebook group who are committed to flying this one good luck to them. I would if I could but unfortuantely I am many thousands of LY's away flying to the imaginary centre of the imaginary Galaxy.)

And how does that work in the game? There is no facility for this - which was my point. Basically you'll have 1 tonne of cargo that you have to sell or carry around forever as a "vanity item"!

Or they'll have to add in some extra functionality, which I doubt they'd do in the short term.

Um. You sell it. In station so the fictional station inhabitants can enjoy it?

I wonder if FD will play be their own rules?

Mr Ryder. We get the message! You don't like it.

And it's done.

I'll be the first to congratulate Vingtetun on his Hutton Mug winning. I have never been to Hutton station but I will be sure to go pick one up. I'm still very pleased with second and would once again like to thank everyone who voted for and supported Sothis Crystalline Gold.

Y'know, there is a heck of a lot of stations and outposts throughout the Galaxy. Would FD perhaps consider adding all the rares in the above poll in the order they finished in? First the mugs then Sothis Crystalline Gold then the Vargerson Platypus and so on until each CG has run its course one after the other. It would be tough doing so many CGs if you want them all in the game but at least that way everyone could be happy or perhaps happier to see their favourite rare in the game or a chance at it anyways.. ;)
