Wings 2 trailer features a UA, and the pilot says he's trying to get it to Leonard Nimoy............is it not the most obvious suggestion?....I mean why was the UA in the trailer anyway? Seems a little odd if it's not a whopping clue.

As we now understand (mostly thanks to our very own Indiana Jones Mr Tree) there will always be more UA......I am not sure about this by any means, but as I have said before now we know we can get our hands on more we should start ruling out these ideas, starting with the most heavily hinted at one.....would also tie in with the whole "you're over thinking it" vibe.

Mind you, not sure I want this solved......I mean I can't just read "normal" forum posts about buffs, nerfs and pirates! :D

Wait, so we're being scanned down and invaded by Vulcans now?

Don't worry I'm sure the UA is just beginning of this little puzzle.

So nobody has done this yet? Why the hesitation?

I call it the Gollum syndrome, everyone who has a UA have become emotionally attach to it so are unwilling to give it up.

Personally I'm not sure. It's likely that once sold we can't test any more.

One thing to remember is the trailers inaccurate to gameplay. The distance for hyperspace jumps are greatly exaggerated for example, along with the 1.3 trailer power emblems are no where to be found. There is a trailer where Anacondas (with different skins) are fighting beside a station (station not shooting them for being in the no fire zone) and then they jump to another system (while they would obviously be mass locked) I could go on but those are just off the top of my head.

I think selling it is the most likely though.

Nice to see you more often, Arcannon :)
You know that the LN theory is on my top 3 list, with the trailer, The Whales, Star Trek IV plot, and so on. It's not first place anymore, btw.
In fact, what kind of link can you find between this theory and Kerrash's suggested Book? I'm reading it right now, and even being just half of it, I've been able to find so many connection to our UA story, so far...

Another example of coincidence, apart from these I've already talked about?
The Circle (The Dark Wheel), is planning to attempt someone's very important life, to let the Aliens blamed for that.
They are addressing to the target as "Her Highness", the Emperor maybe? The President? ;)
To achieve that, they are buiding a weapon of unknown origin, but they need at least 5 of them to succeed. Right now they still have 4.
A VERY Important citation as well:
"Can we target another System?" the Architect asked "He's visiting a few on is tour"

mmmmm.... some VIP on a tour among Systems? mmmmmmmmm.....

EDIT:
All of you should take a deep look at that book, even those who claim having read it already:
you didn't know anything about the UA when you read it, perhaps you've missed something... ;)

I've since gone back to watching the trailers, and I do mean all of them, for clues... first one being of course the Wings trailer for obvious reasons, but I've also said back in the beta days that one of the trailers had a very peculiar "anomaly" in it when what appears to be a T9 hyperspaces into a system. Reflected in the glass canopy was what looked like hieroglyphics which many dismissed as a potential "reflection" from approaching the star but I'm still not buying it. I think we need to be careful when FD releases trailers because they put stuff in there.

Maybe it is, I don't want to rule anything out. But having sat out in California HW-W C1-17 thinking about it all I have to say that trailer is unrealistic. The whole thing's just a cinematic creation not based on game mechanics. Each aspect seems chosen for impact rather than than being representative of the game.

Call for back up 2000LY from home - get it in 30 seconds.

Eagles + FdL 2000LY from home? Probably the worst exploration ships but the best looking ships.

2 Eagles + T7 vs 2 Vipers and a Vulture? Well maybe but unlikely.

T7's canopy gets blown out so far from home - nevermind!

But yes out of that, it is actually possible that selling at Leonard Nimoy station is an accurate representation of an in-game mechanic, so as I say I don't want to rule it out. I just think it's pretty unlikely.

If someone does it and nothing is triggered in Galnet or whatever.........man will I be popular!

Ahh I wouldn;t worry about it.

Lot's of people are suggestingit. In the end it's up to the person with the UA (which is why I don't like people piling the pressure on, sarcastic comments etc..).

If nothing happens nothing happens, it's one off the list.

A lot of people think selling is probably the *most likely* route to something happening (me included!).

It's just that for me, I don't find being *most likely* out of a group of *really unlikely* suggestions to be particularly persuasive!

I don't comment much, but I follow these threads when I have the time. I love watching the mystery unfold.

One thing is bugging me this morning. I've always doubted the connection between the UA and the plague, mainly because it was members of the last thread that wrote the GalNet article linking it to He Bo. I figured FDev let that go through as a bit of fun speculation. But in some of the recent GalNet posts about the plague, why do they keep mentioning the specific station where the scientist is working on a cure? Is there any other good reason why we would need to know that Carl Simmons is at Newton Dock? I can't think of any other in game reason that we would need to know the specific dock, other than bringing the UA there. AFAIK, the Carl Simmons stuff is not user submitted.

In the poll I voted for selling it at Nemoy, but the way this plague storyline is progressing, I think Newton might be worth a shot.

The sounds emitted by the UA IMO seem to indicate that they are some form of Alien life form and maybe in need of some form of food to survive. Is it possible they need to feed on some form of energy to survive? Maybe that's why the ships modules are affected when one is scooped in as cargo, they drain out the energy! Should we show we are friendly in some way? :)

At the risk of sounding controversial :p

I do not see the connection (or need for a connection) between the mechanics (in game or no) of the trailer.....treat the trailer as a mini movie (no realism required).....and the story of the movie is Pilot has UA, Pilot is taking UA to Leonard, Pilot gets attacked, Pilots friends help him out, he carries on to Leonard to flog the UA....The End.

If it is or isnt the answer in no way hinges on any realism in the trailer......the question is did they spell it out for us in the first place? ^^ Have they been sitting there all this time thinking JESUS GUYS!!! ITS IN THE FREAKING TRAILER! :D

I don't know the answer but I would suggest we find out. ;)

OHHH an another possible idea, how about we put a new bounty on a UA simply with the intent on selling it to see what happens? I would be happy to contribute substantially.....although I would not look forward to cargo transferring cash again that was a total nightmare.

**Edit that nightmare bit has nothing to do with RedWizzard who was a pleasure to work with :D........it did take ages though and as the only way to transfer cash it sucks.

There's also the argument that the trailer is external to the game.

It would be like reading a detective story, getting to the end and not being able to figure it out. When you tweet the author asking he says "Oh didn't you watch the YouTube trailer for the book, the vital clue was in that!"

You'd be like "What? No I didn't watch the bloody YouTube trailer! What a complete waste of time!"

*puts author on never buy list*

Maybe I'm straw-manning a bit but I don't feel it's that far off.

Talking in-game only. Why Leonard Nimoy?

As far as I can see it's because there's a loose similarity between the UA and whale noises and Star Trek had whales in it once? (which again is out of game)

Dont know and pass, I'm not really sure about the Whale song Spock thing either.....again it's just a theory :D I would laugh if they had this hold sequence of event planned out and they have had to adapt it all because we refused to press the start button.

I'm only saying LN cos it's in the trailer and that's where the guy was taking it.
