Im worried Fd doesnt know that some of us enjoy powerplay.

Im worried that with all the negativity going around that FD doesnt know that alot of people really do enjoy powerplay. For me I just make sure to not do it a whole lot. Im not rich so I do what I can to support my power after making money as a trader or bounty hunter. I dont grind and I dont care about reaching rank 5, Usually I just go for rank 3 or 4.

What do you guys think do you think the devs know that we dont all hate it? How bout the devs that frequent the forums let me know so that I wont have to worry.:)

I should add that I do want improvement to powerplay just that i dont think its "trash" or needs to go away.

I would not be too worried. From what I have read .....

1. It is not something they expect everyone to play, so the moaning by those who have not played it, have decided it's not for them, have not played it because its not elite or have played it but found it does not float their boat (kudos to this last lot for giving it a whirl) should not result in it being pulled.
2. FD acknowledge that it has some major issues and there is now formal acceptance that such things as the merit decay mechanics need looking at....at major bugbear for many who would play, but understandably object to the current time sink.

I'm playing it to a rating 5 level. It is not a grind as I have a very mixed playstyle and I enjoy all the Winters communities I'm now part of.

PS - pledge Winters. You know, morals, human rights ;)

No need to worry. However, when Captain Hammer says, "FD are the only people who would have concrete proof that people like it," he's missing the statistics by which FD will be measuring the success. The correct barometer of success is new sales.

New sales is the barometer because that's the only significant way that FD makes money.
They look at their sales figures and say: "Has our rate-of-sales figure increased since we introduced Powerplay?"
The answer is undeniably, "Yes."

They can also go on to speculate:
"Would it hurt our sales to leave it there?"
"No."
"Would it hurt our sales to remove it?"
"Possibly in the short term. Who knows in two or three year's time."

So it stays. For now at least.

I don't like it. I don't play it. According to the poll, I'm one of the 4 out of every 5 that don't. But that statistic doesn't matter as long as they sell more and more games. The amount of people who moan doesn't matter if FD sell more games with Powerplay faster than they did without Powerplay!

So don't worry. :)

For me, it adds flavors to what was before just playing for the next bigger better ship. And I also am enjoying the communities built around the groups. But I'm getting off the ranking 5 train. The recent change in merit decay is just too much, I'll just keep it at level 4.

I understand what you mean re R5. Depends on available time and right now I can play 3 hours a day as I have taking extended holiday. I can actually maintain R5 with about 5 hrs per week so plenty of time for other stuff, but I'm not sure I will do so when i get back to work.

I think that most people really want to like it but in its current state its simply not worth bothering with.

I'm sure its future is safe, they are not going to trash it.

Its more a question of how will it evolve and how many participants will it win back.

Not worth bothering with? RP, pvp, high gross profit, and communities are being built around it. Plenty of reasons to bother with it. If its not your cup of tea sure don't do it, but there are plenty of reasons to play it.

Outside of pp specific factions on reddit I wish more had this mentality.

On the one hand, powerplay is fun but on the other hand, Alliance enforcers. need I say more?

Oh yeah noones arguing that it doesnt need improvement.:)

All they need to do is make it so you can earn credits by doing random missions for your faction-- rather than the immensely tedious grindfest of repeating the same couple of 'take these leaflets to that system" over and over, or blow up these cargo ships over and over.

Hey as long as you get that others like it thats cool. The sentiment that FD made some collossal mistake and should therefore trash it is what I hate. Make it better sure but for gods sakes dont trash it when people like me enjoy it.

I also feel that some of the hate is coming from pre 1.3 groups. Ive noticed a trend whereby groups created around a power seem to thrive whilst pre 1.3 groups seem to not thrive. I think they miss the attention myself. :p

Agreed. Lets say that you can earn merits either by the current method for that power and through missions. Lets say for example that as a lavigney person I can help prep by either shipping corruption reports or by doing missions. Id recommend two kinds of missions. power missions and missions on behalf of your power. power missions are specific, unique and award you with more merits than cash. merits on behalf are normal missions but with merits tacked on.Kind of like,"See what my bounty hunter did for you eh?" come to lavigney. lol"

Also improvement to mission rewards in general are a kind of must for me.(I want more than 200k for those pythons that I try to assassinate in my FDL.lol

I spent 5 weeks with ALD. I drank the kool aid and did some serious mileage supporting the power. It was not worth the effort in my experience.

I am making big cash unpledged and PvP is vastly superior because I am not being constantly interdicted by power NPCs in supercruise.

They have the stats, they know if people like it or not.

(for me, it's not compatible with my avaible play time)

How so? it only takes a few minutes to contribute the merits needed to reach rank 3 where the benefits come in. Then just go earn that money with bonus. After all you have done your part haven't you?

Don't be worried. FD has a rictus grin on its face as it repeats the words, "Powerplay is fun. Powerplay is fun."

People here must be wrong then. Not sure if you have been keeping up with events but there has been a nod from FD that it needs work.

No need for your undermining here. There is another thread where that would be welcome.

Anyway, no war here, just an observation ;)
