CQC Update really soon

Just got the ad on my home screen too after a day of nothing but skittles ads. Maybe it actually is coming soon but the ad literally says "now featuring cqc." What a tease haha.

That's cause its not out...... The add, if you look close. Says "pre-order" sorry you spent all that time doing that, maybe your game will run better now while you wait..

People wanted someone to, I only spent a half hour doing it both times... But thanks anyway I suppose

Th add also says play now lol directly under cqc , FD is a joke

You mean Microsoft? They finished the update, what we are waiting for is the update to finish certification process

You know Microsoft are purposely going to delay it till their Gamescom briefing on Tuesday right?

I have no real issues with microsoft , im pretty sure they are juggling alot more than FD lol... Frontier knew going into this process what types of challenges may arise, they knew the timing around such events like gamescom, there approach in general to there customers has never been a strength lol... the add on the dashboard is jus further embarassment and shows the Frontier way, "we talk a good game, its our delivery that sucks."

It's hardly Frontier's fault that Microsoft's advertisement department is far more efficient than their patch approval department.

If anything this highlights just how much of a problem this creates for full cross-platform play. Patch syncing is the main obstacle to this and if Microsoft are unable to streamline the process the Xbox One version will always be perpetually behind the PC/Mac version (which can be patched at the drop of a hat) making cross-platform play an impossibility.

Personally I think Microsoft are delaying it on purpose so that they can flick the switch during Phil Spencer's Gamescom briefing on Tuesday.

Well, lately Blizzard releases every new Diablo III patch at the same time on all platforms.
It's highly probable the two consoles (Xbox and Playstation) will make PC/Mac version wait for some day but from my point of view it's a good professional behavior.
Of course Blizzard never says release dates (just a "soon" or "when it's ready" at best). This way they never mistake. :)

Frontier have clarified several times in the past that PC/Mac updates not going to be held back artificially.

Doubt it, it's that Elite isn't all that popular right now on consoles, so I think a lot of the conference is going to be spent on H5 tbh.

Saitek made a decent, and relatively inexpensive, stick for the 360, but there were half a dozen flight games out for the 360 when they sold it.

That's pretty much why I think it's unlikely. Other than ED I can't think of any X1 games that would benefit from it.

A flight stick/throttle combo for flying and steering wheel/shifter for driving games would be pretty cool. A new gamepad with additional buttons would also be cool (don't say "the elite controller is coming" because it only has remapping of existing button inputs, not new inputs or macros).

There're already racing wheel's, they're just Ferari logo'd so more expensive. I heard awhile back a generic one was in the work's but not a peep from that in awhile.

I saw an article a couple of months back that said Mad Catz was working on a flight stick for consoles. But I haven't heard anything new about it. I suspect we may see something after NMS and E:D have full retail releases. Because at the moment there isn't much use for HOTAS on console.

whenever CQC does arrive

(and to be truthful, i'm playing smite quite a bit so i dont find myself licking windows while i'm waiting for the update)

i will be into it like a ferret up a trouser leg.

my gamertag is WILLOW

see you out there.

It could be Fight Stick and not Flight stick?? They make an arcade style controller:

I cannot find any mention of a full sized joystick for the Xbox One or PS4 anywhere. Again, it comes down to game types and mapping. Getting dual sticks to map over to a single joystick is very, very hard. Maybe with the advent of the Elite controller we'll see some more options, but I still think that the Elite controller only allows button remapping, not stick functions?

EDIT - That appears to be correct, i.e. stick functions cannot be remapped outside of any game options. From the Microsoft Elite Controller site:
"Assign any of 14 inputs to the ABXY buttons, paddles, D-pad, triggers, and thumbstick clicks."
I think that creating a joystick that replaces one or other stick with a separate "small" stick for the second stick would work fine. Having a switch to swap sticks in hardware/firmware would be trivial. But it would end up very expensive and a bit niche. And it does break the Microsoft concept of pure living room entertainment. They don't want gamers sitting at tables to play. Couch. Kinect. Wireless everything. Watch TV That's their concept, and a 3rd party hardware company might struggle to get their product licensed if it breaks this. Read the description of the Fight Stick, which to me is a table-top device, and it says in bold, "Non-slip foam padding coincides with where the controller rests on your legs during lap-mounted gameplay" We've all experienced how Microsoft work with this stuff, and they're determined that the Xbox One fits a certain type of user.
