@NeilF: You, sir, have struck the upper portion of the small metal fastener. +rep

Having learned what we all have with PP, I think it's crucial for this new update to be player-centric, rather than world-centric, as well as being focused on new features rather than the re-purposing of old ones.
No doubt CQC adds a bunch more content and variety, which makes me wonder if/how a new update would integrate that further into the overall game.

EDIT: Assuming, of course, that this announcement is an update...

I voted Souffle by the way.

Personally think this is going to be a game killer or a game saver. Many players are potentially going to throw teds out of prams on this if its another 'trash' update or another 'trash' announcement.

Heres hoping FD are listening properly and not playing on their Xboxes. (Did I say that?).

Many players are potentially going to throw teds out of prams, no matter what is announced, if past experience is anything to go on.

That is one of life's certainties, along with death and taxes. And bacon.

Just as long as FD try to do something that a decent percentage will want, and preferably not targeted just at the same new audience, then that's about as good as we could hope.

Lets get ready....

Have to admit I'm quite dreading the reveal because the last two "major" additions have been the total opposite of what I want or am interested in. To use a silly sport term "three strikes and you're out Frontier".

That said, I am crossing my fingers and really hoping it's actually something great this time.

Wings, no interest, Powerplay, no interest, CQC, no interest. Like you I am hoping for something that wll get the old ticker racing and something to look forward to. We need Adnams and a pork pie, not Panda coke and salad.

Colossal: We'll be able to pilot capitol ships, for just a few billions credits.

It's really amusing to read all these speculations and arguments :)

Why don't we just patiently wait? :p

rootsrat meet internet, internet meet rootsrat ;)

I reckon it's going to be a free to play version that only allows the user to pilot a basic sidewinder with up to D rated modules :p

Next you will suggest us to spend our time on investment in future...like reading, learning or making our spouses happy.

I'm almost stuck thinking where a new feature will fit into the game. Despite its somewhat mixed reception, PowerPlay was amazing well integrated into the menus and map especially, and was only slightly bolted-on feeling (I wish they didn't have so many stars and yellow highlights for PowerPlay now that it's a few months old, as it feels like they're saying "hey, here it is!" when I know exactly where it is!) I sincerely hope that any new additions to ED are taking gameplay in an expanded but different direction. Leaving your ship would be a standout item, especially if there were additional abilities in sapce, e.g. to be able to salvage items/metals from blown up ships that you have to remove and manhandle into your own cargo scoop, and the ability to find things in or around space stations, whether it's dingy bars with dodgy punters looking for a lift to LHS 3447 or black markets set up in corners with "honest, that's Gold" for sale. Something with people is essential I think, and something that's a bit random and risky. Not a map/upgrade/battle/mission expansion, unless it feels as though there are real NPC characters to help, hinder or murder along the way.
