Here's some of the recordings I managed to get from the twitch stream.

Ahhh congrats =) and condolences. =( What a rollercoaster!

Looks like the landing gear nudge dropped it's health expediting it's demise. =(

Is it me or does the "explosion" sound different to the last one?

It's hard to be sure but it almost sounds more like an "implode" than the previous one, I'm wondering if Frontier have tweaked the audio at some point, ie weve pointed out some incongruencies and they've made some alterations?

I've extracted the audio of the explosion/implosion/crunch : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_Ozdb8mTFWzT3pkNWl6eVdJMms

The bump happend before the UA died as far as I can see so that sound is essentially the UA decaying naturally, and if that's the case that "crunch" does almost imply it may be disappearing into Witchspace or simliar. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Ok, so this time I was in Krisha system.

I just arrived and a SSS appeared so I thought I would try it as I got a new ship and set up for pirating.

Can I ask, were you local to the star ie you hadn't actually moved anywhere when you found the SSS and entered, or did you travel away from the star?

Just dropping this:
What if the purrs are containing data as well? Something like a message, and the key to solve it is to create an alphabet out of the sounds which we already do have!

I also think that! I'm going to share one last idea and then I won't bother you anymore:

Can somebody try to overlap the sounds by making a kind of Stereo audio? Like so

Channel 1: <Whale Sound 1 ... Purrs><Whale Sound 1 ... Purrs>
Channel 2: <Whale Sound 2 ... Purrs><Whale Sound 2 ... Purrs>

Ok I'm out, good luck guys, I'm repeating myself but you're doing a fantastic job! You should be rewarded with a paint job (at least)!

You should give it a go yourself with Audacity. :)

It could be that the sounds be emitted by the UAs' are calls to find other UAs with whom they can communicate, and understand their sounds/language. It is clear that we have not yet understood these sounds and have been unable to decode their messages. As I have previously said, IMHO they are living beings with some hidden functionality and at the moment are locked and in defensive mode. It would be interesting to try and get two UAs' and pair them together, and watch their behaviour, see if they communicate with each other? It might be a way of making the UA open up and unlock.

Is be possible to get two UAs together? It would be interesting to see what happens, shame I wouldn't know how to do this myself.

This has already happened due to a n early replication bug incident.....don't think anything of any note happened.

Ok, so this time I was in Krisha system.

I just arrived and a SSS appeared so I thought I would try it as I got a new ship and set up for pirating.

There was a convoy of T9 and 2 anaconda's.
There was also another 2 ships, anaconda's I think.

I scanned the T9 and the convoy's did nothing unusual.
I followed while waiting to get feedback.

2 ships high waked out leaving T9 and 2 anaconda's.
Then the T9 started to FSD so I took it shields down and used limpet to open hatch.
Lucky everything came out.
I had to break away cos of the conda's but I had a collector drone and fired it at the UA.
I then got my shields back up with a SCB and returned to pick up the drone with the UA while spamming chaff and using another SCB while stationary with cargo hatch open.

It was quite exciting really, those conda's weren't happy I was stealing their special cargo :D

Anyway nothing new really except maybe a new location for you to try. If it helps the nearest station I think is Fed. I dunno if that makes a difference.

yours are VERY IMPORTANT NEWS!
You confirm what I suggested some days ago!
I've spotted TWO UA convoys, and both of them were in the FIRST SSS that appeared immediately after exiting from FSD in a new system.
So, as I already suggested, to find an UA Convoy faster, do not stick around one system, waiting for SSS to show up! Jump from a system to another, and enter the first SSS that eventually shows up immediately after!
Three times for me make almost a proof ;)

It seems to me that the whale sounds are an indication to the beginning and end of a sequence.

I'm not sure if that's really the case to be honest. The whale sounds appear exactly every 29 seconds, like a clockwork, while the purrs are more irregular and sometimes coincide with the whale sounds. Either the whale sounds are a different signal or they're just noise.

Things it could have been, based on current game mechanics (or with a tiny tweak) but probably isnt.
Will the real reason be any better ?

Permit Granter - Allow access to a current Permit Locked System. As the Permit system is a Human construct, unless the UA is a human device, this would have been pretty meta. Never expected access to vast swaths of the Galaxy, but Polaris might have been nice. UA holders would have been in very high demand being able to take a wing to the locked off areas. Would have been pretty cool.

Plague Cure - With all the Disease CGs failing or at least extremely hard, the delivery of a UA could have automatically completed the CG, with 10-50 million credits to the owner would have been a nice one. If anyone wanted their system to remain clean, the mad hunt for a UA would have been a CG with a different flavour, with a chance for a Cmdr to see his name on Galnet

Dark System - It could have decayed leaving a Wake that could be followed to a nearby "dark system". Thats just an instance between the existing systems that could have had a Thargoid base or fleet. Can you imagine the queue of combat ships around the UA waiting for it to pop, then the charge through into hostile territory. Like the mother of all CZ, where if you retreat, you have to find another UA.

I hope FDs imagination is better than mine, and it ends up being even cooler.

When I spotted mine, I have been hunting in system for ages.

What systems were those 2, can you remember?

Also were they right near the star?

I was travelling inside the SS1 tour, jumping from a system to the next in my route. No, I dont remember the systems exactly because they were not scanned and then I FOLLOWED the T9.

You are saying an obvious thing :D
All the UA we had, were found staying for ages inside Timocani, so they eventually spam, sooner or later.
I'm just suggesting another method, perhaps a better alternative to the already known one... ;)

Azaleach to Saga?

That's where I was running up and down with the misjump tests.

I think the easiest game mechanic to implement is to do something with the UA object.
The UA object probably inherits the Toxic waste canister, but it has custom sound, 3D model, effects and a cool death/escape animation.

It would be easy to add a conditional trigger that in some way changes the UA or even just another cool animation.

A solution like this would not require any changes to current game mechanics.

If all that happens is another animation sequence, I think I will head off into the black with a hold of Onionhead, Beef and Brandy, never to return

Well, that wouldn't be the worst tho'... Imagine if my solution would reveal a message like "Thargoids are coming"...

If that animation is the Kalaxian queen mother heading of to the closest palnet, it could get interesting :)

Hey if we could avoid as second war with the Thargoids that would be great. Least time that happened it was over a century of crappy space travel. Thanks.

"We beat the Thargoid, and they told us about you, see you soon"

I'm thinking something more established like say 2010 with the final Europa message which of course we disregard and start a war.
