Welcome to the thread of the hilariously entertaining raconteurs known galaxy-wide as the Bacon Cats! Pull up a seat, pour yourself some tea and grab a bacon buttie.
The origins of the modern Bacon Cats can be traced back to the so-called "Bacon Protests" of 3288, when overzealous animal rights activists organised multiple simultaneous protests across almost a dozen populated worlds in and around Carnoeck against the practice of eating animal meat. Ironically the head quarters of the movement was traced back to Bacon City, Carnoeck and the tabloid media took the joke and made six months of headlines with it. Towards the end of the protests, the now-infamous Imperial provocateur and gadabout Jay Silver illegally smuggled in and dumped over two hundred tons of raw pork directly onto the building housing the protest organising committee, before declaring to local media that "Bacon Cats will be there whenever somebody needs their ludicrous behaviour and pomposity tweaked!" Through to this day, the Bacon Cats name has been appropriated by raconteurs, provocateurs, satirists and professional opinion givers seeking to stir popular opinion.
The daughter of the original Bacon Cat, Julissa Silver, along with a cadre of comrades continues the name with actions and antics that have spread across many populated systems across Imperial, Federated and Alliance space. Though always looking to comment to the media about the folly of politics and bickering among the greater galactic powers and ever an ardent voice against piracy, Ms. Silver seems to be most passionate about the steering of Bacon Cats pilots to aid in acts of mercy and missions of benevolence. Most notable has been the assistance of many of the Bacon Cats in the delivery of medicines to Hart Station in the Bast system to combat the spread of the Cerberus Plague, as well as the subsequent provision of several thousand tons of Ceremonial Heike Tea which proved vital in the treatment of a dozen other infected systems.
EDIT: The Cats are BACK.
Well, that's enough creative writing for one post I think. You are cordially welcomed to the Bacon Cats thread. We, the Bacon Cats, are a (at least officially) politically unaffiliated group of players and pilots that value cooperation, humour, satire, good company and good tea above all over values. We're primarily a social group of equally valuable and equally awesome pilots more than wings of commanders that always play together but we welcome company and camaraderie out in the deep black. We don't claim to support Imperial, Federation or Alliance factions, we don't declare one PP group better than the others and we don't believe one game mode is better than any of the others. We simply enjoy Elite.
Unofficially, I tend towards trying to steer folks towards CGs and cooperative activities and away from the more competitive or destructive things, but pilots are free to do just about whatever they want short of active piracy and non-consenting PvP in whatever mode they choose with whatever company they desire. We primarily play across two private groups (one being the very excellent Mobius and the other being my own private hangout) but dabble in all modes as and when the mood takes us, thanks to the wonderful way Frontier initially set up such a great system that endorses such freedom.
This thread is the home for all the irrelevant, irreverent discussion that is the trademark of the Bacon Cats, for poking fun and sharing a joke, or simply for stopping by and saying hi on the way to our excellent gift shop. Don't expect it to stay too serious for very long, we Bacon Cats do love our satire and our giggling.
