If I preorder now will I also get access to the Mac version when it is released? The description on the store seems to imply not. I'm predominately a mac player, but would run on PC for a while to get earlier access if both platforms are included.

Certainly in the main game, PC and Mac is interchangeable. I would doubt that would change with Horizons.

2 questions from me,

> AS others have said, When is Holiday 2015, when does EDH:Beta actually become available??

> I pledged £90 on Kickstarter, hence I got a Standard beta and Lifetime Expansion Pass. I understand that the Expansion pass allows me to get EDH when released. I would however like to join the EDH Beta. Now I know I can buy EDH:Beta for £50 (-£10 loyalty), however this price includes a licence for EDH and a Beta Access licence. I don't need to buy the actual Release EDH as I'm already entitled, so is Frontier saying I have to pay £40 for EDH:Beta and a useless copy of EDH:Release? £40 for just a 1 month beta access seems a bit steep...

Obviosuly I appriciate the loyalty bonus (than almost everyone post kickstarter can benifit from)! Please don't take this as a whinge, but Frontier, for backers like me, with Lifetime Expansion, why can't I buy a EDH:Beta ONLY licence? I'd gladly pay like £20 for the Beta access (I really wanna land on a rock!!) but like I say £40 for 1 month of Beta as I don' need the release version, I am already entitled seems a bit harse for the long time backers that want to get involved but didn't pony up like £10 more on kickstarter. not realising the extended benifits...

Edit: As {SAS}Stalker asked:

Hi Michael,

As a standard beta backer I don't think I will get beta access to Horizons, however I "topped" up and bought the original lifetime expansion pass so I already have Horizons bought. Is there an upgrade path available for me that would get me access to the beta without having to buy a second copy of Horizons?

I have question. Apologies if it's been asked and answered elsewhere but if it has I can't find it...

If I pre-order through the Frontier store will it integrate with my Steam-purchased copy of the game, and will I also get the veteran's discount? Or will it be getting a separate Steam release?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to quote myself but I'm still not seeing a definitive answer to this question. I've checked the Knowledge Base but that's not exactly clear what happens if you already own the game and buy from the Frontier Store - will the Horizons content be available through my steam-purchased launcher as soon as it's released, or only when it becomes available through Steam? Also, if I purchase the beta (which I'm sorely tempted by), will I be able to access that through my steam-purchased launcher?

Michael, if you're still around perhaps a clear and definitive answer to this could be provided?

Thanks.

Does the Lifetime expansion pack include beta access?

My store is listing EDH for both PC and Mac after purchasing.

So now all the cry babies will be shouting at FD "I couldn't finish him off because he flew down to a planet, Ban them now FD BAN THEM NOW!!" ;)

It will be interesting to see how transition from orbital to atmospheric flight is handled - if it is seamless then those with Horizons will simply go past the yellow "keep out" line and descend to the surface whereas those without will presumably be stopped from approaching any closer to the planet's surface.

I suppose it will work with the "exclusion zone" effect which you see, for example, when trying to get too close to a black hole (I tried ;)). The ship simply stops hits an invisible wall (no collision damage) and you get an corresponding message in the HUD. As for those who can land, I guess the FSD will be utilized all the way down.

I just pre-ordered the expansion and I indeed now have both the PC and Mac versions in the download area of the store.

Presumably, you will still drop out of Super Cruise, and proceed on thrusters.

Oh come on man just go read the ks page, it says clearly that you will get it. Why are people asking the same question over and over?

The kickstarterpage says:
Participate in the first round private beta test

Unless i missed all new betas, some where else?

Yes, but any content specific to Elite Dangerous: Horizons won't be available. So iif you fly onto a planet surface then they won't be able to follow.

Michael

^made me chuckle...
if someone hasn't purchased or are entitled to the Horizons expansion then a player who has the expansions can hide on a planet

Starting from private beta test and up to the alpha everyone gets expansions for free.

That includes you. And you will be able to take part in a beta test even.

Okay I fully understand that these are paid expansions and as this was always positioned as such I have no problem with it. That said the announcement (see below) indicated that existing players would get a 25% discount. I went to the check out and only seem to get a 20% (10 pounds) discount off the 49.99 pound expansion.

If you go and try to buy the lifetime pass at 130 pounds (or 200 USD) you still only get 10 pounds or 13% off.

That leaves me with two questions. First is the discount right or is it linked to when you joined (I got in during beta) and second how many expansions beyond plantside were planned? I only seem to recall planetside and first person which would lead me to think I'd be better off buying them seperately

If you're PREMIUM beta .. which for £200 KS I think you will be (check in the store), you're golden.

(I'm not golden and won't be in this beta test, owning KS standard beta + expansions pass)

I understand that FD does run a business and needs to turn a profit, but personally I'm a tad disappointed that an expansion is more expensive than the base game - it seems a bit excessive, but we'll see if it justifies the price, I guess. Wondering if we'll have to pay again when they expand planetary landings to include other planet types such as ELWs? Sorry if that was asked and answered already, info's a bit scattered right now.

Personally, I still intend to preorder Horizons the moment it comes out on Steam, as I have enjoyed Elite so far quite a bit. Should Horizons fail to justify it's price I'll probably be more careful with future expansions, I'll give FD the benefit of the doubt on this one.

It should cost 20$ max for those, who already have game... Lifetime expansion pass for 200$. No, thanks. That's half of my month salary in Russia. I'am dissapointed. Why they didn't say from begining, that each dlc will cost same price as base game. Personaly i will wait next steam summer selling prices. Even if in FD cost will be the same. They don't have right to milk their core gamers base.
And thats DLC still be infinity grinding.
