Use your imagination! Variant expansions? "The Python Variant pack" all manner of "content" expansions etc...

I bet they have a list with all sorts of possibilities for expansions. If ship expansions have been suggested then I see no reason why they wouldn't.

Look at what Star Citizen's doing, $400 for a single ship? My God! And people are buying them. Frontier want some of this, ships inside an expansion is a more palatable way to achieve the same.

Just to say, I'm not trying to persuade anyone, just talking about it. I think the more sane people would actually wait!

Frontier claim a ten year plan, to stick with that they simply have to generate revenue, which for me... one expansion per year minimum seems reasonable.

Think about it this way, what kind of person, with a straight face, would charge £10 for a skin?!

1.5 isn't going to be an expansion, rather a normal update.

You know Braben's Kickstarter campaign stated the plan was to sell credits for money, literal "pay to win". It hasn't happened (and it probably won't) but it's still right there in the Kickstarter.

We do not plan to make it subscription-based. Once you have purchased the game up front, you will be able to play thereafter for no further cost. Everything in the game will be purchasable with in-game Credits, earned from trading, bounty-hunting, etc. We will probably allow the supplemental purchase of Credits with real money, for those who want to accelerate their progress through the game.

We do plan to charge for additional updates, to be available sometime after the original release. These will offer additional content, features and gameplay.

Also the last bit not just features, but also content and gameplay.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, aye no-one knows, but Braben's pretty savvy with all this. £10 for a skin is rather brazen. From where I'm sitting he has his eye on monetisation and he will be doing whatever he feels he can get away with.

Heh ignore me though, I'm actually trying to justify to myself having just spent £120. =p

There is a big difference between an expansion which introduces a huge amount of new content and a special ship and an expansion which only includes new ships. I bet that the difference in the Cobra Mk IV is the ability to have whatever module is necessary to land on planets and deploy the rovers. I don't expect it to be a generally better Cobra. And even if it is, it won't be the best ship in the game. A ship expansion would have to include the best ship in the game to be successful, and that's when it's clearly pay to win.

A lot has changed since Kickstarter. The Kickstarter said that there would be an offline mode, do you still think that's coming?

Indeed........Although I was kind of expecting some revelation, although we do have a couple of days to go.

I am waiting to see if anything (or nothing) happens. I have some plans in my mind about how we are moving forward, I am very very keen on effectivly setting up a council to lead things.

I am also wondering about landings in Horizon, and if that will provide a little more content that suits our particular........tastes ....I am also waiting for feedback on CG's/Minor Factions, I mean purely for fun reasons I think a research base for the Canonn is a must.

Please so feel free to throw me ideas on size of the council etc.....and for that matter nominations (even if it's you!), I am also keen for it to be very similar to our current mode......slightly anarchic and not in the slightest bit authoritarian.

An annual confference has already been arranged in Tahiti, The Canonns funds are a little low at this early stage and we could only afford one ticket. I will let you know how it went when I get back.

I'd say a place between powers but with all this powerplay nonsense it would almost make sense for the base of operations to be somewhere remote and unaligned where everyone is welcome regardless of status and affiliation providing they are true to the cause.

Dev's always save the best for last to blow the doors off the hype train. Then they ride that train all the way to Christmas release.

I predict a 1 minute cinematic trailer featuring a thargoid ship scooping a UA or somethi.

Something really short, but will make the entire player base cream simultaneously. Maybe we will get a glimpse of an octagon, maybe a fade out shot of a thargoid face.

Either way you'll have to make a third thread just to deal with all the speculation in a week from now.

The best thing would be an extended planetary landing trailer... where you see more of where the rover goes to which is toward a crashed out octagon with UAs littering the crash site and as the rover closes in you hear loud chittering AND THEN fades to black....
