Lifetime Expansion Pass - Owners' Thread

So who all is going to have to get this now? Call me a sucker if you like, but I can't resist! I missed out on knowing about the game soon enough to be a backer for it.

"Limited time only" offer, of course...

For a limited time only, players will be able to purchase a Lifetime Expansion Pass granting access to all current and future Seasons of Elite: Dangerous. The Lifetime Expansion Pass also includes access to all Elite: Dangerous Beta builds to gain an early glimpse at upcoming game content before release plus exclusive content.

Also (and included, at least for now)...

For a limited time all existing Elite: Dangerous players will receive a £10 loyalty discount plus the exclusive Cobra Mark IV ship when ordering Elite Dangerous: Horizons through the Frontier Store. Discount will be automatically applied at checkout.

Elite: Dangerous isn't perfect and is still a work in progress in many ways, but overall it's very enjoyable and has an appealing unique style about it. Being a sci-fi pilot space sim. type game set in the vastness of our Milky Way galaxy is of course very appealing to me. I want all that it has to offer and will offer in the future to be available to me. I also want to help support its further development.

Let me know what you guys think about it and if you're going to be getting this as well. I'm sure some of you have already beaten me to it.

Sadly not being a heavy gamer I did not see or buy into Alpha/Beta or backer level, so happy to hand them cost for Lifetime Expansions. As this online game has more chance of being around for years than others I have got.

As for cost, seems small vs. star citizen.

I bought the Premium Beta back in the day, does the Expansion Pass I got with it still count for Horizions?

The price doesn't make sense to me. I should be able to buy just the expansion with beta access not the whole game plus expansion. I really do want to get this and continue to support FD but I'm not to keen on paying 80 Canadian for an expansion when I'm paying for the base game in that price.

Hmm, I see that I paid €40, and that it's €175 now. I got a lucky deal there!

Hello commanders!

I am struggeling with the DLCs. Bought ED when it was released and I am very happy with it until now. Every game has downsides but I have no doubt that FD will fix that soon enough.

Now with Horzons, the expansion is pretty cool (planetary landings!). However, I will probably buy every expansion as well (probably). So I am not sure wheather I should buy horizons now, or the lifetime expansion pack.

For this, I have some questions. First, is the loyality bonus included in the lifetime expansion? Secondly, if I buy horizons now, will the lifetime expansion be cheaper (relative to the horizon's price) later?
And what would you do? Lifetime expansion? Horizons or no DLC?

Read the Lifetime pack terms carefully. it says lifetime of Elite Dangerous. Do you know that frontier trademarked the Elite Deadly title, back in Feb this year?

Lifetime expansion and a second account

I have the merc pack bought in beta.

I am thinking about buying into the lifetime pack, but I want a second account to do clear saves with and mess about with.

Can I transfer my current CMDR over to my lifetime pass and then use my other account to mess around in?

I don't want my current CMDR data to be cleared, he's done well for himself these past few weeks.

If I go ahead and buy the lifetime pass, does it apply to my current CMDR or will it be a new account?

What I really want is for my current CMDR to have the lifetime pass and my new CMDR to have a pay as you go account.


Is it possible?

That's basically what it looks like to me. I imagine you'll likely still have to buy some content such as paint jobs if you want them. Don't take my word for it though - I don't work at FD after all.

If on average they can continue to bring out 1 expansion each year then the lifetime pass is still a very good deal.

Actually, that's not exactly correct. Lifetime Expansion pass includes: Elite: Dangerous, Expansions and Beta Access.

I'm going to wait until Horizons is released and maybe buy it after they've rolled out the first couple of season expansions as if the last season is anything to go by its not worth the price tag to me.

I'm not interested in Planetside style vehicle battles, or all out war on every moon,planet,mass in the galaxy, if Horizons is just a way to add more places to be "ganked" then its not for me.... only time will tell

I'd never buy a lifetime pass unless there is a clear development road map published by the developer.

Lifetime Pass: Should come with all extras

If you buy a Lifetime Pass, you should get free access to all DLC like paintjobs.
Or, if you do, it was not explicitly stated as far as I could see.

Way I figure it, we paid a bundle for it; it'd be a very reasonable perk.

I'm confused by the Lifetime Pass. Is this the full game plus lifetime DLC, or just the lifetime DLC? In other words, if I purchase this do I have to start over in the game with a new commander or does it get added to my current game?
