I don't know what an "Expanion" pass is ;)

But I got a lifetime expansion pass as part of my kickstarter package, recently I was beginning to have serious doubts as to whether it was a good choice and value for money but today put me right, am quite pleased now and I can't wait to join in the beta.

Seems like a good investment. I paid £50 (ish) for mine as part of the Premium Beta. Now it's worth £130. Next year it could be worth over £250. :)

Cheers, Phos.

i just did a quick test & pre-ordered Horizons @£39.99 & the stores wants to charge me £29.99 so i guess it doesn't see me as a lifetime expansion owner even as i'm a Premium Beta Kickstarter ?

So, does it upgrade your account or starts a new one?

I guess it will upgrade my account, it would be crazy otherwise all my progress would be lost! There is nothing extra in my Download section yet. It just lists the purchase under my purchase history.

@ dc83, you are of course right, i should of bitten at that price back in Beta, but given i have put in around 500 hours, im not holding a grudge against Frontier:)

I just bought a lifetime pass

The lifetime pass was $180 (I got a loyalty discount, woot!) and I figure I'll be playing Elite for the next year or two. Let's call it 30 months. So that comes to:
$6/month.

My previous estimate was that with the new expansion it'd bump up to $7/month so now I've basically locked in my monthly cost and if I hang around more than 30 months then my monthly rate begins to dip below $6/month.

Edit: Apparently the lifetime pass may also include Beta Access. Which makes it extra super tasty, because now I am one of the cool kids.

Of course I am gambling. I might get sick of the game (I'm vastly more likely to get sick of the forums!) and quit but I could also come back in 3 years or whatever and not pay. That means that if I'm curious what's up on ED land in 2020 I can drop by and check. Seems like a good deal and I'm willing to risk the money.

And here's another really great reason to do it (which is what clinched the deal for me!) in a year or so, when lots of people on the forums are screeching about the next expansion and what it costs, I'll be smugly inflation-shielded and prepaid. While my $6/month is fixed, now, theirs isn't. It might go up to a whopping $8/month and I'll get to sneer smugly as everyone pulls great handfuls of their hair out and rends their garments. It's worth it for that pleasure, alone!

Here's the backer's app .. (use your edstore credentials to log in)

Expansion Pass .. and .. Premium or Standard Beta are slightly different things to each other.
Pass is a good investment I'd say, regardless of discount,
Beta test if you're keen, as every little helps in the development pot.

Standard Beta does not include expansions (though Expansion Pass was bundled with some KS pledges)
Premium Beta AUTOMATICALLY includes Expansion and also includes future Beta tests (2.0 onwards)

(Standard Beta is now ended, as was Beta of core game only, versions 1.0, 1.1, etc ... current release)

Done ...ordered.

After missing the original Kickstart ( i know I know ) I felt I needed to pump some more money into a game ive racked up 350 hours in and paid so little for ;-)

I'm also going to pull the trigger when I get home tonight. I regretted not having beta access (I bought the game in December) and given the embarrassing number of hours I've put into Skyrim, I'm pretty sure it will end up being a good deal for me as well.

I miss initial offer. Bought elite in october 2014. Played 1200h from now and still playing with pleasure.

I just buy my lifetime pass, give money for great dev work.

It give me 10years of Elite.

Paid 12*13 euros for Wow during 2 years.... Calculation is quick done : elite is cheaper ;)

I bought the game during standard beta. I now really want the lifetime expansion but have no use for another commander.

I petition that they add an option for people who already have a commander and just want to upgrade it to lifetime expansion.
Buying the LTEP should just be counted for your current account.
When i log in to purchase i get the "£10 discount as a current user" option, so one would assume it is adding it to that account.
One question I have is - If you buy just the LTEP alone with a new account, for £130, does that give you the main game and Horizons too?

As I understand it, we now have a two-tiered LEP - the old KS £80 variety (no Beta access) and the new (Beta access). Have I got that right?
