User submitted news from this very thread I believe?

Aye it was.

But the thinking was, on the hypothesis that the UAs are plague spore carriers....

One went boom inside a station, if Frontier were aware of the event AND the UA is indeed carrying plague spores then, by rights, the incident should result in a plague outbreak in the station.

And since the article has appeared we can perhaps assume Frontier ARE aware and have acknowledged the event.

Therefore the question is, will a plague outbreak subsequently occur at Crown Gateway? Or will nothing happen.

The answer to this is an indicator as to whether the UA is, or is not, carrying plague spores around.

I like it - but I still remember spending days looking for a fleet of clippers in the systems around sol .... There is still a disconnect between story line events an events in the "real world" of elite ... If someone goes to Achenar right now - its probably business as normal - no hint of what Galnet is saying is happening ... And those were ED stories - not player submitted - I am still HOPING that "proceduraly generated" doesnt mean mindlessly continuing in the face of story lines ... but so far ...

Hi bitstorm, here is io_10.mp3 decoded according to BCD previously posted by me:

We end up with the following letters: L A M G L E E I I C

Re-arranging thease letters we can make up a few words, here are some examples:
*
IMAGE CELLI MAGE CAME MACE MILE LIE

Trying to find something meaningful, any suggestions welcomed.

Also found the word MAGEC, its in the Elite map, interesting.

Yes on those clippers. I can similarly tell of the faintly comical but unsurprising lack of 'real' activity around Achenar - and Capitol in particular - immediately following the death of Old Hengichops today. Or, for that matter, any major security presence last night. I went for RP reasons, didn't expect anything, so wasn't disappointed.
Still, while I've moaned about the absence of mechanics on display for FDev's implementation of a mystery/storyline like the UAs, such as the necessary mirroring of active content and GalNet reportage or even the sparse use of a Deep Throat NPC conduit between the players and FDev which would add a fun degree of 'can we trust him? let's check,' I would think it very unlikely that the next one will be so... well... mis-keyed to the players.

By comparison, Community Goals seem to be well-handled. NPC ships fleeing BD-02 90218 (or whatever it was for the plague) were spouting apt statements. I appreciated that touch, and GalNet is hardly devoid of directly applicable content for CGs. It's just a shame that it seems the UA mystery - by dint of content-prompted playerbase activity a Community Goal Plus - seems more and more a fire-and-forget exercise and regularly frustrating as a direct result.

I wasn't paying attention at the start of the UA business. Did FDev explicitly say that the UAs were the mcguffin of a planned mystery or was it just seeded into the BGS like an Easter Egg to which FDev didn't actually commit much more than a simple solution which was exploded beyond all preparatory design by the playerbase response?

they've certainly alluded to a mcguffin but all we have found is a lousy easter egg.

They have neither confirmed nor denied and have instead allowed the hype to build.

Into what, no one can say for sure.

The elephant in the room that everyone consistently ignores. =/

African or Indian Elephant ?
Some people see it as proof that it is random and therefore has no data
Some people see it that the signal is longer than a single recording, each Cmdr is hearing from a different start point. They need stitching together.

Some people think PL and CQC must have taken a lot of work and that's why powerplay was so dry. Some people think the UA mystery was set on the back burner. Some people are me.

I'm going to try and find an artefact again tonight in my Vulture. Is there an optimal loadout of equipment I should be packing? Are two must-haves an interdictor and wake scanner?

As it is, when I find the (non-UA) navy convoys, I've been trying to practice shooting up the Type 9's cargo hatch and scooping a canister prior to getting incinerated with varying results... so I'm wondering if my head-on assault might be ill advised and perhaps there's a stealthier way of going about this. My last practice run ended with the ship computer telling me to "Eject! Eject!"

Absolutely, I'm not saying anything isn't there but I think it's critical to bear it in mind when you decide what you're giving your attention to, and well everyone just seems to ignore it and ploughs on regardless.

If people want to do this then fine who am I to say what people spend their time investigating, but it just seems a waste of time/effort/enthusiasm and a bit blinkered tbh.

And it's also a little frustrating when you take the time to mention it to save people bother and it's never acknowledged, just ignored.

I know it doesn't fit people conceived notion of what the purrs are and people therefore don't want to hear it, but unfortunately it's the reality.

Cargo and FSD wake scanners, Class A FSD to match the T9 range, hatch-breaker controller and limpets to crack open the door quickly. Interdictor if you want to pull the T9 out of SC after its jumped.
You'd be better going in with a wing though. A strong ship to take the shields down and draw the Annie fire, another ship to launch the hatch breaker, perhaps another one to scoop it up.

Hello all,

I'm going to drop out of this - at least for a while. Nothing to do with this community or comments or anything like that.

Just feeling disaffected and disappointed with elites game producing philosophy.

I was really hoping they would announce a comprehensive overhaul of the inept mission system and a major attempt at bug fixing.
What we got instead is an announcement that unless I pay them $97 NZ, I will become a second class player.

I'm not going to pay - I'm going to quit. Not in anger but in sorrow.

I'm going to find something else to do while I wait for Fallout IV

Keep up the good work

Clade.

I hear you, and have read and appreciated it all the times you have tried to steer people into more productive areas of research. While I think you are probably correct, the quantity of non-bat-crap-crazy leads that we have at the moment is similar to the quantity of beer in my glass. I better get a refill, and keep on refilling till 1.4

Hey Arcanonn, how many people are signed up to join The Canonn? If you want a hand compiling a list of CMDRs you can send me a list of forum users and I can go knocking on doors to get their ingame names.

Maybe we can get a big friends list going :D or even a private server

Come onnn
We have better modules than the powers!
You can choose from a cargo hatch that doesn't decay with toxic waste, a FSD that only works 50% of the time, or a classic Timocani Tinfoil Hat.

You know you want in.

Not to mention the Second Guess Flight-Assist Computer. Which is the ideal defence against anybody strafing you. It flies at a phenomenal rate in completely random directions, making it difficult to get a bead on you because... yes, as we all well know... it's nigh-impossible to keep up with.

Can we engineer a module that allows for more rep? Haha

What am I saying, of course we can. Just give us a thread or two to figure it out.
