New Tier Upgrades available

Tier upgrades for your pledges are available as most of you would know by now on http://www.frontier.co.uk/dangerous_kickstarter_pledges/pledges/

Unfortunately for me at least I found them very very expensive. I know this stuff costs but I found it a little disappointing they are not following the pledge format others do by giving "and everything else previously" but rather the "individual add on" and no "digital copies".

Available only to pledges 40 pounds and above and you must stay on the same tier by using manage your pledge else of course you just go up a tier.
  • 15 add on gets you paper back copy of the music. So I guess this is the actual music sheets
  • 20 add on gets you the physical sound track.
  • 50 add on an Elite Dangerous Mug and a special T shirt saying you backed it.
  • 50 add on and a physical copy of the Dark Wheel sequel signed by David

The rest are 500 pounds upwards so I have not listed them but they are physical ship models.

These are single add ons and if you are outside the UK like me it is 15 pounds PER add on and there are no digital copy options.

So if I want the music CD, T shirt, Dark Wheel signed that is 120 pounds plus 45 pounds postage. Total 165 pounds which is $253AUD for me. Which I am not really able to justify for 1 CD,1 mug, 1 T shirt and 1 book (signed). :(

Exchange rates and postage rates are of course nothing to do with Frontier and it is messy to calculate for different countries etc so they have a flat rate but I was hoping for some kind of postage combination or Digital Copy versions and adjusting the pledges so they digital versions.

Pledges cannot of course be adjusted once started by Frontier they would have to do what SC did and modify their page so next to the pledge it covers the additions.

I think it is fantastic Frontier have added these things in and of course one could argue just like anything in life some people have more funds to play with than others but ELITE seems to be what you need to be in cash especially if you live outside the UK to get some of these things. Again not Frontier's fault or anyone elses.....

Please some digital options for loyal supporters ? Please please ? [EDIT: I see there are new tiers now I didn't know about with digital versions, I made a post about it below after ALIEN put me in the picture]

I would also like to know if these are EXCLUSIVE only during Kickstarter because I might be able to get some of these bit by bit but not all at once. I guess if this is the case it would cost even more. I don't know.

I know most of you are in the UK so if you order 3 things you won't get hit by 45 pounds postage but don't you think prices are a little steep? With all due respect to Frontier of course.....I understand these might be kickstarter exclusives.

Thoughts anyone ?

Hi Styggron,

If you look on the main Kickstarter page at the new £35 and £45 reward tiers,
you'll notice digital copies of the music and book,
so if you've already pledged above £45, you'll get both.

Me personally, I upped my pledge to £200 so I can have a mug & T-shirt
Yeah maybe a little expensive, but hey, this is Elite 4
not some "I rode the donkey at Blackpool" souvenir.

Thank you Alien.

I don't know how I missed that.

My apologies to Frontier, the digital options are excellent. I stand corrected regarding my comments regarding digital copies.

Hopefully the digital copy will include a download of the artwork for the CD. :)

So really all I need to add is 65 pounds and I get a t shirt and mug.... hmmm

Lucky you live in the UK. I'm afraid I can't spend $105AUD (65 pounds) on a T shirt and a mug. I'm not in as fortunate a position as fans like Fangrim that pledged 1500 pounds.

I am thankful there are digital downloads. They have also updated the FAQ explaining what the order of Elite would give.

[EDIT: added the paragraph below]
The closest semi realistic amount would be 150 pound pledge ($263 for me) to be in the order of the Elite. The one I would like though is the 300 pounds one but that is not realistic for me really that is almost $500AUD.

Though I think at the end I will probably stay with my 50 pledge I'm afraid. :( I would like to do more I really would.

How much you pledge is somewhat irrelevant in my eyes, we all are giving what we can which is the important thing.

I'm a bit of a merchandise ***** so a T-shirt tier was always gonna suck me in.

I'm not too stoked about the new options to be honest, the ones at higher levels where you get the models - totally - but there's no way I can afford that between now and January :(

I would have liked to be able to get at the design forum and named space station but I think right now £40 is all I can spare for it unless I win the lottery between now and then :/

We each do what we can to support the project - Each and every one helps us get closer to the goal.

I too would like a model but will have to forgo them - out my price range but certainly not for others.

Ce la vie :D

To the general cause, yes. The fact one makes a pledge is the important thing.

Personally though, I too love merchandise but 15 per add on for international postage needs to be looked at. It can end up almost 40% just postage compared to the product. I would understand 15 for 1 item, 22 for two etc but not just 15+15+15. Anyway....enough on that.... :)

Dammit I hate to use this example but it is the closest one we can use.... deep breath. <breath> SC has multiple items and combined postage. If you combine things you get a slight increase in postage but they are not charged individually.

At the end of the day it is "you either get it or you don't". :)

I am happy we have digital versions. I would love a mug and T shirt as I said but not for over $100 in my currency. I am though VERY happy for those that are able to afford those prices especially if you do not need to include overseas postage. You're lucky and that's a cool thing and I am happy for those that can. :)

oh and overseas orders should not have VAT either should they?

:)

I know all my amazon orders remove the VAT before shipping.

Wow, those ship models are extremely expensive. Being a modelmaker myself I have to ask; are they being individually 3d printed? There are far more efficient ways of producing them in small numbers.

Very good point that, also they don't mention if they are painted or not.?

Don't think I will be buying anything about the only thing which would entice me into coughing up more money would be copy of the game supplied DVD or USB stick.

And why are the £20 and £30 tier the same.?????

Hi Spacegamer. I thought that too originally.

The 20 tier is limited to a certian number and when that is sold it will be 30. People may have still selected the 30 tier because they might have wanted to donate more perhaps although you can still donate extra without increasing your tier (as is required if you want some of those nice physical add ons).

The add ons are nice though aren't they.

Ah I see what you mean, early adopter would have made more sense.

Yes they are but only for Lottery winning and Bill Gates :)

Sadly yes especially if you are from overseas and are hit 15 pounds PER ADD so 45 pounds postage for 1 cd, 1 t shirt, 1 mug, 1 signed book .......

Glad for the people that can get it though just I can't justify 165 pounds total for me for all that as I wrote in the original post.

Glad they are putting things out there though and yes I know, I am forever hearing it's comparison with SC and yes the SC prices for physical items were a lot better but lets not go there. This is what Frontier have given us so we either get it or not and unfortunately for me, it is over priced especially with no combined postage. Not for everyone but I am glad they are there. :)

Now that they have some items I am sure we will see some competitions in the run up to Christmas.

That would be great. Reward not just the kick starters but us lot on here who've been posting on here as well.

Just noticed I registered 5 years ago this month :D

Didn't think it would take that long to get e4 :)
