So a suggestion, I don't know if this has been tried? (keeping it simple)

The UA is carried by a convoy, the UA starts to eat its way out.

During this time the convoy crew are ACUTELY aware of the presence of the UA, they don't stop talking about it in one way or another, "glitches", "promotion for bring this home", "UA UA UA" etc...

The convoy seems to circle about aimlessly, you can follow it jump after jump. Almost like a "holding pattern" an airplane wanting to land but cant because it's not yet able to access the runway.

So what happens when the UA eventually drops of its own accord, no pew pew, just eats its way out?

As I say the convoy is acutely aware of its presence, when it drops (and it is inevitable it will) the pilots must surely be aware of this.

At this point surely something must change? Most likely their chatter changes, they simply cannot go on complaining about glitches getting worse.

Has the UA ever been take to this point? Do we know what's then said if anything?

Could it be as simple as :

"OH THE THARGOID PROBE FELL OUT!"

Job done, mystery solved!

(or possibly the convpoy goes onto to its destination, you follow with the recovered item and those who were going to promote the convoy are ternally greateful - TEH END)

Pretty sure this is how one or more of Ratking, Wishblend or Redwizzard got theirs, just by letting it drop out. Not sure if they got the entire conversation at that time or just scooped and jumped (more likely).

Last post for tonight
Credit to Nicholas Powell for setting up operation Biscuit Barrel
Credit to Cmd Obone4888 for engaging the Conda in an ASP to draw it away !
Credit to me for dropping the shields on the T9 then killing one of the Condas to keep it distracted
Credit to Cmd Monkey D Luffy for popping the hatch and bagging the UA
And Credit to Keijo for assisting in the search.

True team effort real adrenalin rush ! Well done one n all

Fly Safe commanders...

PS getting scanned on the way into a station carrying a UA gets you a 168k fine !!! Tut

Great job guys! So how many do we have now? 3? We should bring them together at one point.

No, unfortunately on Bitstorm's question about what the Convoy says following. After the UA drop they just circled around with FSD charged, talking the same things they did as when it was onboard. (Observation by Patau82, Nilreb and I after an earlier miss - despite pushing them around a bit after it was missed)

Yep it's why I try to avoid stations and go to outposts.....that fine can kill your reputation fast and lose a UA because of getting trapped in the station.

4 I think.

Oh, FWIW the Morse on Voyager is Per Aspera ad Astra:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contents_of_the_Voyager_Golden_Record

I'm not sure the complete golden disc is here: https://soundcloud.com/nasa, as the music is missing, as well as the F-111 and Saturn V, that I noticed in a brief scan. And the whale greeting.

So, like, this might be inspired. Off the first of those two links, 'The Music of the Spheres' does sound quite a bit like some of the background noise that's often quite loud in many UA recordings?

Also, listen to the 'Morse Code, Ships' link - that ship's horn does sound like it could be slowed down to make the purrs.

And of the elephant sounds in 'Birds, Hyena, Elephant', one or two could be similar to the honk.

I even think the Morse is a similar speed to the Morse we get from the UA.

It's all loose-fitting, like MC Hammer's trousers, but... Just, well, it's possible...

Another UA. Well done all.
I'm in Timocani at the moment. Very few SSS and no CMDRs.
Always late to the party.
I was looking at the Trailer again, and found California Sector HW-W C1-7, which it appears to say on Ishmaels Nav screen.
This is a long way from Leonard Nimoy station with a broken canopy (I measured, 1012.36LY)
Filmakers poetic licence, probably. What of taken literally? They could get to the station in 25 minutes, which points to wormholes. In the old games, there was a famous 'wormhole' bug that allowed you to travel large distances in 2 jumps, based on finding a system 655.36 to 670.36 LY and multiples of 655.36.
While they were going to find out how much it was worth, they dont confirm or deny if they knew what it was/does.
What if it is a way to do just that?
Just bouncing off the wall on the way to Bast, stopping on route every jump to find at least one SSS. Fed up of HE suit T9 convoys.

If the tinfoil hat fits, wear it. Audio guys, any of you want to have a go at any of this?

Edit: If this leads to something, I'm going to have a serious chat with one Senator Wag-ar, as we were discussing Voyager and music of the spheres right before EB, P came along and a bunch of us went chasing Eclipsing Binary Pulsars.

This number keeps catching my attention. I've asked before, but three separately obtained (no dup bug) UAs in close proximity? Don't think it's been done, that I've seen.

Edit: or four. I'll get my coat. :)

Seems pretty important here... ;-)

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

Hmmm. The wiki says there was only a test with 8 SAP8 canisters, maybe more does something else... then one line below it says there was a test with 12 already.... Did I miss something?

What was the max number of UAs in the same instance?

It be pretty dangerous for Frontier to rely on a commander or commanders managing to find 2 or more of these together and get them all into a single instance together.

I'm reasonably confident that we only need one UA to crack this mystery. Back hunting UA for as long as I can stay awake.

Thing is I'd like to stick as much as possible to the material and not compare it with things out of the game. I don't want to overcomplicate the thing. Probably stupid I agree but for the moment I'll keep doing that.

Sorry, I shouldn't ask before checking first in the wiki! (As sometimes discoveries do not appear. But one as important as this would have been posted indeed.)

Well, Voyager 1 and 2 were in the game, with audio, until they disappeared recently. And it has not been acknowledged as a bug by FD. If that is not hitting us over the head with a hint, I am not sure what qualifies.

NP - the wikl is rather random in its up-to-datedness, but it is worth checking there first.
