I see the new Horizons add on is available from "Holiday 2015" - when is that in English?

I went on holiday last week - does that count?

What holiday was it last week?

This is one colloquialism that never made sense to me. A holiday, or holy day, has been expanded to cover a day given off by government mandate or employer election. A vacation is a day you choose to take off and vacate your workplace.

The holiday season refers to the period of time at the end of the year during which people celebrate various holidays, generally around Christmas. I'm not really a big fan of that phrase covering over a month of time though.

Couple of points:
1. Do not like being called a Yank anymore than you like being called a Limey - Frog - Krout - or another derogatory name you can think of.
2. We are no longer Colonies any more then England is part of Germany - your welcome.

Edit: sorry had a bit of an over reaction - try not to take anything I said to heart and I will do the same for you.

Err.... I think you got the wrong forum, no mention of the 'Y' word here until you added it? Could you give a reliable reference to when England was a part of Germany, I am not English myself, just would be interested to know.

By the time they're corrected 20% of the bugs from the rushed out version..... something almost playable by mid Feb 2016

Don't count Beta... not worth ...t

Instead you just chose to insult about a dozen people without foundation, next time if you feel something is 'not worth it', stick to that ideal and don't post maybe?
It's not without foundation. I have lived in several places the U.S. I actually know what most people in the U.S. say. The people in here making ignorant comments do not.

So maybe those people shouldn't make ignorant comments. Maybe?

Second post:
Clealry it is for the Yanks as "Happy Holidays" is their naff term for Christmas. :)

The Germany bit is referring to U.S.A. assistance to GB during WWII. As in GB may be now speaking German without our assistance. I admit that would be a bit of a stretch, I think the new lord and masters would have let the Brits continue to speak the Queen's English as a second language.

Tongue in cheek of course. :)

I must admit I personally would prefer we had British terms as it is an English company.

FD marketing material has to work in all English-speaking areas. I have some US relatives (Jewish) who get huffy and a bit offended at the mention of Christmas. Yes, it's absurd, but that's why everybody over there has switched to "holidays" as some sort non-denominational euphemism. And I agree that "December 2015" would have been the obvious solution to this, but maybe beta will come before then. :)

"Holiday season" is a horrible Americanism that has absolutely no meaning on this side of the pond as we have no reason to celebrate the meeting of a bunch of colonists with a bunch of native people.

If anything over here "Holiday season" is schools summer holidays.

So come on FD why isn't Horizons out already as you are a UK company and in the UK it is already "holiday season"? ;)

Regarding Thanksgiving, it was a Christian holiday in which the colonists gave thanks to God for providing them with a plentiful harvest. They invited a group of native people, but contrary to popular belief had nothing to do with giving thanks to the natives.

What has whether you are a colony now got to do with a meeting of pilgrim colonists with native americans in 1621 being the origin of thanksgiving? :)

I took my holidays in July. They were most pleasant and not at all Christmassy.

Why must we pander to the colonial commoners?

1. Yeah, I'm really offended of being reminded that my ancestors were intelligent enough to want to avoid scurvy.

2. Is that the Yank spelling of "you're"?
