I spilled coffee over my joystick so had to do something other than play.

In an evening of banging my head against things I have tried out various slow scan TV decoding thingies on sound samples from the UA and can say with reasonable certainty that there are no pictures of nekkid ladies or in fact anything in the sounds from the UA.

The 2nd one in your image is different though?

That's really odd, is it old footage, maybe Frontier redid the model.

edit :

Ahhh, so for each pod, it looks like the sides facing and facing away from the head are match and are different to the other two sides.

Haha - ninja'd me while i was editing my last reply. Here's the important bit:
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't actually need a UA to solve this. The UA may just be an "apple" all we have to do is find the "tree"

Question is, why would there be a difference in one of the markings? From a programming/game development point of view what would the point of coding unique markings be? (Same goes for the morse in the sound, the unique explosion, etc).

Gets me thinking about what else is unique/requires extra work to develop. For example the explosion. Unlike other things exploding there's no wreckage. It just disappears. Also there's that ejection from the head and the space warp thing (could that actually be the ejected thing hitting the edge of the area of distortion that we can observe at distance? Could that be a sort of shield?). Where I'm going is - if we assume that the extra work in designing and coding these features is because they are important and pertinent to the story of what it is, we can use a focus on these things to zero in on the truth.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't actually need a UA to solve this. The UA may just be an "apple" all we have to do is find the "tree"

I have also ran the phased up sound though SSTV software. The whines sounded strangely like the SSTV header sync signal. The software even picked up few packets on Robot32 if my memory serves me right. I either suck at this or there is no SSTV data in there.

We bagged another one.... passing it over to Mr Powell for safe keeping

Good job. :) I was looking for one in Blatrimpe, but couldn't find it. Got AI Relics tho in one of the SSS. ;)

Oh, and BTW, I saw a mission in every station in the system that spoke about looking for the system. If you know what I mean. Elite status required.

Knowing the current location of one UA is not enough. Knowing the current location of a single UA plus a straight line distance to the tree is not enough. HOWEVER knowing the current location of MANY US's and the straightline distance to the tree MIGHT provide the location of the tree.

See a hypothesis here:

Is there something funny happening with the forum (we're reaching critical mass again?) or has the biscuit barrel approach worked really well, again?

If so, great work commanders, and don't forget the old saying "two in the racks doubles the cracks".

Hang on, is that 2 within a couple of hours of each other? If so, then Temere Fortuna is smiling on you!
And it would make more sense to separate UAs across a close group of players rather than a single player carrying them all. The single player would suffer double decay damage.

That image is taunting me. What are those heads and whats the deal with the seashell?

*turns tinfoil hat up to 11*

The goal of the UA is to organically create a faction in game that is focused solely on scientific progression and contact with the Thargoids.

We are going to be the bad guys of the game one day.

One day?!! I take great pride in currently being a scourge to Federal Convoys everywhere. :p I never thought I'd be a pirate, but making the Feds look like amateurs is a good deal of fun...
