Our achievement: dismally failing to solve the puzzle.
Next phase: a simpler, kiddie puzzle with training wheels on. UAs will be made of bright, flashing neon, and will come with a "if found, please return to..." tag.

How do we know if the aliens / future humans / others have not returned the UA to its sender -- US

wow the gods have been here today :) would love to know what we done to "in part" trigger the next phase!
or is he just being nice giving us a bit credit even though we have so far failed?

It's not the Thargoids that I am worried about, it's the 3rd power that the Thargoids are running away from :D

Are you talking about these?

'The Thargoid's suggestion is that the third race is aggressive in intent, that it is being held back by fear of our joint technology and that it is likely to attack once more when it believes that its own technology has progressed to the point where it would win an all-out Galactic conflict. Their fear is that if the human/android race explores far beyond the current confines of inhabited space (as is likely once alien technology becomes widely available) then we may be at risk of attack and may even provoke a 'third race' attack on our relatively unprotected sector of the Galaxy.'

Ugggggg I wish they would label them some how. So is there a list of official Galnets with all the fake player stuff taken out?

They always have a CMDR name at the bottom, but I don't think that applies to the older ones.

They should be retroactively done really, the point of the CMDR name is to avoid confusion but by not updating them all you're just confusing people. =(

Since we have spoken about hidden stuff in the game I'm currently on the way for the CG in Kamcha as I arrived at System ICZ DB-X C1-31.
I'm there with my T7 with advanced discovery scanner and D5 Sensors.
Systemmap shows me a Class K star and another Class M star.

But I cannot find the Class M star anywhere. Not on my navigation list or by my eyes.
Weired that it has already been scanned by someone.
Any game mechanics that i dont know of? Or just a game malfunction?
Maybe a stupid question, but did you use the ADS ?

Partly, but the core of it is that I believe that there are others out there somewhere that are worse than the Thargoids.

A couple of quick questions and comments:
1) I see from the wiki that people have tried communicating with the UA in local chat but has anyone tried [DIRECT] comms? If so, what kind of things have they said? Perhaps it responds to a simple password, or even a 'Hello'? (The 'Raxxla' mentioned in the wiki was a good idea and the fact that it had no apparent effect might mean that the UA is not related to that particular puzzle?)
2) Can the UA be selected on the contacts list to produce a menu of options, in a similar way to the procedure for requesting docking from a station?
3) Since the UA is illegal salvage and can only be sold at a black market, are there any systems where a UA has been found that do _not_ have a black market?
As the most valuable commodity in the game, I feel that if I were to encounter one of these odd-looking and odd-sounding items, I would screenshot it (video capture if possible), then sell it at the nearest black market. If the solution to the puzzle is straightforward enough for a single player to solve, then what else might you do? The module damage requires you to do something with it quick - once you have it on board. What else would that be other than selling it at the nearest black market? Would something happen as you try to do this, e.g. something else appearing on the contacts list in supercruise? (Would it be as obvious as 'Seeking Unknown Artefacts' or something more obscure?) Or it could imply that there is some way of interacting with it that will reveal a destination to deliver it to?
If I can make the time before 1.4 arrives, I plan to spend some time looking for a UA in my combat-rigged Cobra but if not I'll try out the Federal Gunship (rank requirements permitting) with the same aim. Since the latest dev. update implies more may be going on in 1.4 with the UA mystery, I think it may be more important than ever to acquire UAs once 1.4 arrives. If I find one in 1.4, I'll send a forum PM and go from there but if I find one in 1.3, I'll see what interactions are available and, if I do not find anything, sell it at either the nearest black market or at a scientific outpost with a black market.
Good luck with your own searches!

I was staring at the Gal Map & thinking about what else we know:

* the UA are being delivered (likely) somewhere in the bubble
* we've found the convoys toward the outside of the bubble (Timocani & 109 Virginis)
* we've found free-floating UAs in the Pleiades (maybe natural spot, maybe not)
* we've seen the UA in the Wings trailer in the California nebula, headed bubble-ward

Probably stupid, but if you draw that line in order outward, you almost directly hit the "Trifid of the North" nebula. And it too has a line of the 2MASS stars next to it. In addition, "Trifid of the North Sector HR-W D1-8" has a big Class A star & seems to be the closest star to the nebula (none directly in it that I can find). 2.6K Ly out. Maybe, if all else fails, we should check there to see if there's anything there (SSS, PoI, whatever).

FWIW I did Trifid (with one f) of the North Sector HR-W D1-8 not long ago....

Couldn't see anything, what did you expect! =p

No harm in someone else having a mooch though, but just be aware you need a decent jump range, the stars get a bit sparse near the Nebula. If you're out there sometimes your nav computer will say it's not possible but it is if you manually select stars - dunno why.

I didn't spend ages around there due to rotting ship syndrome. I did not see any SSs. I did not explore the 2mass line, I didn't see the point.

The thing is we are attracted to nebulas because they're really obvious on the map, but that is not the criteria for life to develop.

If part of the solution is in Galnet. There should be a coserted effort to compile a list of UA galnets that are NOT player made. As MB pointed out.... All further player galnets will be labeled. But having a pure source for past Galnet I think is 100% necessary going forward. They said straight out that a hint was in Galnet for something we have not figured out.... And yet when we search for keywords in Galnet a ton of what comes up is player submitted. Would be nice to not have them muddying up the waters. Great for day to day.... Not so much when on a quest!

Unless it's just those ones that were just now mentioned because that will be easy to remember. I'm just worried about others I don't know about and I end up scanning entire regions because of somebody's role play :)

Even now we can use this thread to sort player made stories out - afaik they all have to go through - [ANNOUNCEMENT] Player events and news items We simply need to search in 2 places instead of just GalNet

Update on this:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=176824&p=2722561#post2722561

You can't get a permit to Isinor is by design.

Is it related to Cerberus plague or UA ?

I wonder if "by design" means, "yes, the faction that gave out permits lost control of the system so you can't get one any more and that's as it should be", rather than "yes, we've locked it down". I can't see any reason to stop giving permits given that plenty of people already have them.
