Many thoughts, but all useless since I have no power.![]()
Useless if you don't express then.
The Germany is happy to welcome 800000 new migrants. Because Germany has an aging demographic. But I wonder if this is the right solution
Yet after over 80 people suffocated in truck designed as a refrigeration transport
Exactly that...and the American militaristic Elite refuses to resolve the issues that have caused with their actions. Stays away and just watching..The Westerners play with the fire, in Iraq, in Syria, in Libya and in other countries. And now the boomerang is implemented
Nationalism is an evil humanity would do well to discard. Unfortunately, it's going to significantly hamper our collective response to global climate change, and a lot of people will die in the name of flags and borders.
If you think about it, though, there's no moral privilege attached to the mere fact that one person was born in one place, versus another; birth is an accident. The idea that someone can say "look, you, just because I was born within these imaginary lines on a map, I can say that you have to stay out of them. And starve." That's going to work about as well as can be expected.

Two problems with that: Different cultures mandate that people work in their own "ecosystems". Some goals don't fit together. For example, some societies attempt to maximize the population with their given resources while others attempt to maximize the individual quality of life with their given resources. How would a unified humanity handle that?
In addition, nations compete against each other in providing for their citizens, which provides a mechanism for securing progress. In various reports, we see that the quality of live is usually best in smaller countries (usually in terms of population). Because of administrative overhead and needed compromises, larger countries have a hard time competing - how would that be solved with a universal world goverment?
A unified humanity is part of many a dream in SciFi, yet I believe it will be a difficult one.

It's a delicate situation, you have women and children starving and running away from war and mixed with them you have potential terrorists that will infiltrate our society and in 5/10 years be used to deal a huge blow to Europe economy/security.
