I have come very close to buying a couple of skins but in the end decided it did not represent value.

If we could design our own skins - choosing colours for a set of templated designs which I really don't think is that difficult to implement then yes I would buy some.

Also the mix and match is a nice idea as a place holder.

Not seen anything yet but I hope it's not going to be long! I really want the Tactical Ice or even better an Imperial Anaconda Paint Job with blue neon lighting like the new Imperial Eagle please :D

Full Black Paintjob for the DBScout please. Will buy as soon as it hits the store.

See, that's the one thing that really puts me off the idea of allowing people to design their own. I'd love it if I saw more variation in ship colour while out and about, but you can be sure we won't see much more variation if everyone gets to choose the option that makes their craft as difficult to shoot at as possible.

Otherwise, anything that encourages non-default ship colours to be more popular is good by me.

There is NO artistic creativity with the skins at all!

They look like they came from some kindergarteners crayola box of basic colors.

I would hope whoever made those ever so simple skins got fired or sent back to art school 'cause obviously they where asleep or just collecting a paycheck!

As an artist, I would be embarrassed to claim any of those skins as my work.

Sorry, but the ship skins are the biggest disappointment (looks and cost) when looking at all the rest of the detail throughout the game.

In general they are unimaginative but there are some exceptions:

Maybe things will get a little more exciting in CQC since that is far more player focussed.

You like to make programmers cry, don't you ? :D
Would be an interesting mechanic though

:D It's my job and I love it! Developers are like children, tell them what to do and they ignore you, ask them to do something and they ignore you... Challenge them and you get great results after some time!

well.

i buy them anyways.

whether i plan to use 1 of 6, or purchase only 1, i purchase at least 1 for each ship i own(ed). normally shortly before i buy this ship the first time. i think, i'm a nice and stupid consumer, but hey - as long as they take my money to make this game even better...

Whilst I don't appreciate being associated with a child, I can't actually disagree with this. :3

Not everyone wants their ship to blend in with the background. In fact, I'm pretty sure my Asp stands out a mile...

It wasn't a surprise to see the amount of black used in the Design a Paintjob comp.

I WANT MY GOLD FDL.. I dont care how gawdy it is.. All it needs is some white wall landing gear tyres, and a hydraulic function so you can bounce the nose on the landing pad.. OH, and some fluffy dice in the cockpit.

GOLD FDL.. GIMMIE GIMMIE..

Pathetic I know.. lol

Modders to do own paint jobs.

Modded paint jobs would be awesome. Some people really are that good at art. Whether you can charge for them who know, but would be great.
