Elite Dangerous and Windows 10 Discussion thread.

I'm glad to see this issue has been reported by others. I found this very weird as well. Just had it twice between last night and tonight, which are the only two times I've used my HOTAS in Windows 10 so the correlation is clear.

I do not experience this (and I've been using W10 since release) with my X55.

However, a beta driver's package has been deployed that resolves this issue on it, look at Saitek and Madcatz drivers page.

Yep. only just started playing ED. Plyed approx 2hrs with 290x+windows 10 and had 3x lockups / freezes.

Which drivers are you using? I am using Windows 10 with a Fury (previously a 7970 Matrix) and after upgrading to the 14.7 drivers have had zero issues (may be 14.7.1 now)

On the older card I had some random lockups but realised that Windows was pushing MS's approved drivers out which were ancient and actually causing the issues. You can use Catalyst Control Centre to grab them and the latest Beta drivers if you wish.

I've had a few issues running it which I now seem to have solved.

Sound was messed up for ages and was really quiet. This self rectified.
AMD. Finally solved all of my issues by rolling back to the 14.4 drivers, no FPS drops anywhere now.

Other than those issues which as I said are sorted, Win10 and ED have worked without issue.

Having some issues with audio devices - bluetooth headset in particular (playback isn't too much of a disaster, but mic seems very borderline). Not at all impressed with something this trivial to be honest.

try updating the Bluetooth drivers manually, i.e. go to the manufacturers website. my dell tablet needed a few manual updates to get blue tooth to work.
:
windows has to work across many different configurations, at the last count W10 had been installed on over 75,000 different hardware configurations from low spec laptops, power desktops, gaming rigs, tablets, Macs and probably more than a few home brewed contraptions. Different amounts and types of ram, hard rives, solid state drives, graphics cards, wireless cards, Ethernet cards, Bluetooth dongles, processors by intel, processors by AMD, single core, dual core, quad core, octo core. Frankly I find it amazing it manages to run at all.

My observation since upgrading to windows 10 at the weekend.
I seem to have two versions of the game. One was set up through Steam and the other was set up when I paid for Horizons.
Post Windows 10, only the steam version will run.
For the other version I can get past the login but when it comes to the part where I select the game or combat training I get no response from the Play button.
Not a drama as I can play through Steam.

This probably means you haven't yet disabled UAC or didn't launch the game with admin privileges.

Problematic is that the game does not have a proper console/logfile which would point you to such rights problems.

Should not be an issue in Windows 10, FTR I only run the Steam deployed version though.

As I understand it, Horizons/LEP should be tied to the FD Store account and if you use the same log-in in the Elite: Dangerous launcher you should get the same benefits regardless of it is on Steam or not. The fact that the non-Steam version does not work could be due to a missing launcher update perhaps?

So you tried it and ruled it out?

It was an issue in Windows 8.1 (upgrading from 7).
I have always used Administrator (or on rare occasions just Power User) windows accounts, and it has been a while since UAC has caused me any file "ghosting" issues that prevented an application from running as expected (MS seemed to have addressed the main of those issues as of Windows 7). I have used pretty much every version of windows since at least Windows 95/NT4.

But my point was that the same functionality from the "standalone" version of ED should be available from the Steam version... at least AFAIK.

Hi Guys,
I did a fresh install of Win 10 on a purpose built gaming PC, other than a few hic up's while installing drivers, which turned out to be my bad, I have not had any other kind of issue I have been online for 4 weeks now and I have put in about 3 hours a night with no issues, other than cant get my powered usb hub to work with my X-52 Pro.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and have had ZERO problems. The game works just like it did on Windows 8.1. Knock on wood.
