Griefing: Is it?

No it doesn't. The game is unable to infer intent: it does not know what is deliberate ramming and what is accidental (they could build up statistics on commander which would identify the serial rammers, but do not seem to have done so yet). So FD put mechanisms in place to penalise anyone involved in a collision that causes damage over a given speed.

Only the area in the immediate vicinity of a space station is controlled space.
Outside of that is deep black where anything goes.

China, Japan, Vietnam, Russia.. they all still like a bit of argy bargy.

Since I didn't make that YouTube comment..what's your point again?

I guess you missed this bit:

You also make the mistake of equivocating Space Combat with Naval Combat.

Spaceships are no more the boats of space than submarines are, as that video had, the spaceships of the ocean. (For reference, that guy copped a lot of flak for that comment)

Trying to equate what a "Good naval commander" would do doesn't work.

You know I think us PKers are bored replying to every bears rambling posts where they try justify their angst and aggression.

It really is a case of same story different thread.

I just skimmed through the OP due to how terribly bored i am with what you people say but the jist of it was; dont be bad in game as this paints a bad picture of your irl morality.

Right??

Op should be a comedian, so according to you sice all i ever do in elite is gank people in my vulture i must be very sick and twisted irl. Maybe on the run from the law after all those murders???
Or maybe i just fantasise about it in a twisted basement dwelling sort of way.
According to you guys my life must suck or some such amd because of that i take it out on you poor poor people.

It can't be that i dont give a flying fig about how you feel about your precious internet space ship.
That you really are that insignificant to me.
I look for the fight and when i get that i enjoy it.

Ill happily wade through 1000s of sidewinder and trader wrecks to instigate it.

My life is good i have no problems with the law and lead many healthy relationships with the people i know [irl].

What you people don't get is we dont care what you label is as.
Griefer.
Sociopath.
Scum.
Insert vulgar insult or cancer wish.

In the end anything negative you say including this entire thread is precious tears caused by losing one of your imaginery pixile mantoys.

Lol. How ignorant.

Your failure to recognize the fact that other people wish to enjoy the game and your selfish actions are hindering their enjoyment really puts your personality, IRL and in-game, into question.

You fail to recgnise it has no bearing on them IRL

People like to think that video games and real life are separate, but the trust is that they're not. If someone acts like a horrible person in game then you must consider what sort of person is behind the screen - the fact that it's on a video game doesn't turn them into some kind of second personality. Same person, same motives, only expressed virtually.

You're the one who is turning it into an equation...it's an analogy. And you should read the entire post I was commenting on before jumping in. Destroyers...cutters...

Do you exploit game mechanics while you are out killing players? If not, then you aren't the problem being brought up are you.

Ramming under 100ms doesn't cause fines, you can do it over and over and kill someone that way, which is something that a certain group did at Hutton Orbital while inside the no-fire zone(NOT Code, I want to make that very clear, it was NOT Code or their members).

THAT is griefing, exploiting game mechanics to kill other players in such a way that there is no way to stop them, especially since at Hutton people just arriving are at 30odd% structural integrity which means 1 or 2 hits from a rammer destroys them. The rammer went to Hutton in Solo/Group, docked, repaired, then entered Open to do this.

Code is blockading Hutton, they are out there in SC and orbiting Hutton and taking their chances. The others, they are abusing the game mechanics to grief people.

Let us be very clear about this folks, Code aren't abusing game mechanics to grief people, most PKers don't abuse the game mechanics to grief people, it's a small group doing this, and it brings to light a problem that FD has tried to address before, sadly, they didn't address it well enough and people are exploiting that, so FD needs to look at the issue and fix it properly.

I hope we're not going down the path that video games make people violent...

Almost a heart attack, but yes, I agree that exploiting mechanics to cause harm to other players isn't allowed no matter what.

Not at all - in fact, it's the opposite. Violent (or any other adjective) people play games violently (insert chosen adjective).
"Nasty people play games nastily."
"Selfish people play games selfishly."
"Kind people play games kindly."
"People who like to cause grief play games in a way so to cause grief."
Etc...

What happens when somebody is playing games in all these various ways? Are you going to claim they have a multiple personality disorder?

No, I will claim they are roleplaying their character.

"But can't someone roleplay a griefer!?" you ask. There comes a point when someone's "roleplay" is (whether known to the player or not) causing other players to not enjoy themselves, at which point they stop being a roleplayer and become a nasty person.
