Notice EGX Paintjob Codes (and the forums) - how to use them!

Are these codes still available anywhere? Do I need to hunt for them on the forums or something?

I have only just seen this .. what a bummer :(

Cheers, yeah from what I am reading it seems it was a bit of a messy 'feeding trough' promotion.

Really wish these sort of things were promoted in the newsletter or something. Its unlikely many would have heard about this at all hidden deep in the forum pages. Just a bit disappointed as a skin collector to have missed out.

Nope. The codes were gone within seconds of them being posted. The amount of angst that was generated on FB, etc.. was almost comical. 9 codes at a time, with hundreds (if not thousands) of people all trying to secure one before they were claimed.

If nothing else, they generated a lot of PR for ED. I'm not sure it was the kind of PR they needed, but I'm not the one the masses were hurling rotten vegetation at because they weren't able to get a code in time, sooo... :D

Well I did see that, but thought it was only Farcebook/ and stuff which I don't subscribe to. Didn't notice a forum mention, but might have missed it.

No biggie at any rate. :)

You'll still get my vote for a special, faceless alien character in-game, when time's due.

Of course they are giving out freebies, and that's nice of them. They want to keep the exclusivity and that's understandable. It would've been better if they didn't handle the competition in such a cheap way. If they've went to all the effort of making a skin, surely they could do a little bit of coding to set up a website that takes all the submissions for a code for five minutes or so, and then randomly selects a submission from those entries as the winning recipient of the skin.

I stopped watching Gamescom, EGX and such streams because that atmosphere when they are giving avay anything is like the one you experience at mock auction. But it still did not stop me from joining the crowd for the forum/FB/twitter/reddit thing.

Lesson learned though this time. I won't bother again for any event for any publisher for any game. If thats the thing they wanted, then it worked :)

I'm glad they posted codes here on the forums too at least. I stay awayfrom the whole social networking thing.

Now that 1.4 is out has anybody been able to find out what their EGX paint job actually is? I can't see it as an option for my Cobra...

I see an EGX decal.

The EGX and the GamesCom paint jobs are missing for me. Are they actually supposed to be included in 1.4?

Like vonDutch I also see an EGX decal for the Cobra Mk III.

He posted a screenshot of his python with it right there.
It's not a painjob, but a decal.

I love this X. Never used the other decals, but this one is great.

I added the picture after I made the post. He quoted my original post right before I added it :)

Anyways, even in this thread Ed Brett mentioned it was a paint job. Then again, I've also seen reference to a decal. Last and least, the email I got congratulated me for getting a whole pack. So yeah, its back to utter confusion again :p
