Hardly jealousy Deg. How much does Horizon as an expansion actually cost? They are clearly not giving the base game away for free. You can't tell me Horizon content on its own is worth $60. That is not an expansion price. Ok, so if you own the base game already, they toss in a $10 discount. So the expansion is still 50 bucks. So for those of us that bought the base game already, we're now looking at $110 for the base game and expansion. Like the majority of games out there, they should have offered Horizons as a separate purchase.
I payed 40.-€ for 'Horizons' (including "pre-owner bonus"; no beta participation this time).
StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void: 30.-€; may or may not be worth the price tag.
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth - Rising Tide: 30.-€ (including pre-order bonus); might be okay, but I won't get it at launch day.
Cities Skylines - After Dark: 15.-€; nice Add-on, but a bit pricey for what it deliered (even for the smaller price tag); I am still content with the purchase, as I like the base game.
Age of Wonders - Eternal Lords: 25.-€ (IIRC) and WAY too cheap for what it delivered!
Sure, ED is more expensive than all of those. But not by an unreasonable amount, if it's announced (and assumed further) content is taken into account.
And sure, it might be still considered as too expensive. While I don't share this opinion, it is absolutely valid and should lead to refraining from the purchase.
By the way, did you calculate beta-access into the $110?
Because this wouldn't be a fair comparison to other games, in my opinion.
Charging so much money for testing the game (or, to be honest, playing it earlier for most people) is quite pricey, in my opinion.
Hence I abstained for 'Horizons' in this regard. Easy and consequent decision and no complaining necessary.
