Hi, I haven't been on here in a while, but was having a look through the thread and saw someone had put up a link that shows a flow chart as to what we get for what we pay. I have to say FD have made this very nice and clear. I thought it cleared up my query about whether I get a Cobra Mk IV after buying just the LEP (I just bought the LEP in August and haven't bought ED before). The flow chart shows I DO get the Cobra Mk IV after paying £130 for the LEP, which was excellent news...until I saw this post that you don't. Can someone please double confirm that I get the Cobra Mk IV, when I finally get round to installing the game?? TIA

To be clear, you will need to do this to own the Cobra MK IV:
You have to own Elite-Dangerous (the Basic game) and buy Horizons expansion when it becomes available. As the ship is seen as a "Reward to loyal customers who bought the basic game".
If you do not own the BASIC GAME(Dec 2014- Dec 2015) but own Horizons, then the Cobra MK IV will not appear in the ship yard for you to buy.
What if i have the basic game and buy the LEP?
Good news, once Horizons becomes available the new cobra will appear in the ship yard for you to buy.
Take this example.
Lets say you buy Elite - Horizons sometime in 2016 (next year) and you want access to the Cobra MK IV. You will have to buy the basic game, yes i know you will have the basic game it as you bought Horizons and most of the year one release stuff is included in the Horizons package; But you need an original game code to unlock the ship in order to buy it in in the ship yard.
You mean i have to spend more money to get the ship? Yes, basically you will have to invest more money into FD, if you want the ship. Clever marketing on behalf of FD.
Can i buy it in the shop?
Not at the moment, and I do not think that they will release it for purchase in the shop as the ship is a reward for customers who bought the year one release game.

You get beta and the cobra mk IV with the LEP. If they do this with another expansion season, I'm sure it'll have that ship too.

Okay thanks Raualf, this is as I originally understood it. However, this completely contradicts the flowchart here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=172800
Unless maybe when it says Unlocks the Cobra Mk IV, that just means there is a caveat.

I would go with the flowchart as that was produced by FD. The comment you quoted was referring to the "Horizons Beta" product and not the LEP. If you want to be 100% certain then the only way is to raise a ticket on the FD support site (I would suggest posting a question in the other thread but support staff seemed to have stopped replying there).

You guys are making this way too complicated.
If you already have Dangerous and then get Horizons (both are included 'separately' in the LEP, as you get access to Dangerous now and Horizons later), you get the new Cobra. If you just get Horizons (which will include the Dangerous content), then you don't get the ship.
If you previously bought Dangerous and then got the LEP, you got a bit of a discount for having previously bought it. If not, then you didn't get the discount. Either way, this is irrelevant to if you get the new Cobra.
There is no discrepancy between what FD and that previous commenter posted.

Hey snow,
Could you please direct us to the incorrect official FAQ link you're referring to? Our own FAQ states that the Lifetime Expansion Pass was removed from the Store on September 14th.
If there's an out of date page somewhere we'll be happy to change it.

I believe he is referring to the Steam ED News page, where it mentions the LEP introduction, but not the time it was due to be removed or it has in fact been removed.

That would make sense, though at the time of posting we hadn't finalised how long the LEP would be available for and we tend not to retroactively edit news updates.

Lifetime Pass Excuse
I bought a lifetime pass and my wife found out! Awkward!
She has now told all her friends who think I am nerd
What excuses have any of yoos used?
Edit : She isn't an ogre just anxious about money and it is just banter anyway. I was questioning the £4 for a tiny jar of bee pollen this morning and all she replied was "lifetime pass" with a smirk. Doh!

I told her about the hours of pleasure I get from the game (she agreed that the game focused me), and the way the game's expanding, which will cost, per expansion, then about the cost of the Pass. She quickly worked out the saving (of course, based on my wanting to continue playing the game on an annual basis), and agreed that in the long term, I'll be spending less of our budget...
Just need a bobblehead with her face on it to keep her completely sweet now!
