Just say that you have saved money. Which in the long term is a fact.

Saving money, or something costing less is always a good reason for females to purchase anything. Example, £60 for shoes, but they WERE £90, so I save $30. This form of reasoning has to work both ways. So think of a few ways in the past, your wife, has brought things, that saved her money. There is your argument.

Joint bank a/c plus separate individual a/cs - easy! Invisible software is the least of my problems..it is explaining all the hardware and why I have to build a new rig every 2 years that takes the imagination!!

I'm not married and never intend to be, but I did talk about Elite Dangerous to my mother, and to ward off any disapproval, I just admit I'm a big kid inside. There's no arguing with that :p

indeed why an excuse... It's simple dear, if I buy this, that will be many hundreds of hours I won't be at the pub drinking money away...

I bought a lifetime pass and my wife found out! Awkward!

She has now told all her friends who think I am nerd :(

What excuses have any of yoos used?

1/ Its better than wasting coin on gambling or beer-ups.
2/ It keeps you out of trouble.
3/ Age has nothing to do with enjoying video games.
4/ Nerds make better money than slobs.
5/ Gossip only harms those who listen to its babble.
6/ This game is better than sitting on a couch watching Springer(I'm not the father) or Dr. Phil (QuickDraw) McGraw.
7/ No Kardashian content at all.

You have to time this: on the same day you bring in the new rig, bring her the new pair of shoes - buy anything that might suit her (and she can return them tomorrow for the ones she like)

"Hey honey, remember this online/creative/analythic/whatever thing I talked you about? Well I've tried it, they indeed pay! So I need this rig to open new possibilities with them, and this entire payment I've spent ALL ON YOU, as a surprise"!

It worked for me :)

Darling, I either spend a little bit more now to do what I love, or spend a lot more later looking for something else.

I got the pass at KS stage and needed no excuse 'cos my wifelet is also a massive geek/nerd and recognises a good investment in a game when it's presented. My £/hour is already at a really good rate :)

Plus she's in the game somewhere....

You haven't lived until you have a Honey Do List.

I moved out of my parent's house when I was 19 (and proud that I wasn't kicked out), and for 15ish years I didn't talk to my parents from my early twenties to my late 30's.

I didn't cut the apron strings, I incinerated the apron.
