And well done everyone who took part, there are so many amazing entries, it must have been tough picking winners. I loved Slawkenbergius' old timey newsreel video, great stuff! It's very difficult to get that kind of tracking shot on moving ships when you're flying whilst looking out of your sunroof! D:
I really liked Cosmos' shots too, very nicely composed images there.
Thanks again for choosing my vid, I'm really surprised it was chosen since it didn't actually feature any combat at all from alpha 2. I thought I was way off the brief with that but I just wanted to share the beautiful, awe inspiring backdrops that we're playing in.

Congratulations to both winners. Very beautiful picture of a redoubtable and furtive Sidewinder, of Mike and fantastic video of Neon Raven. From the beginning, I saw that this video was beautiful, because it highlights the nobility of ED and emphasizes the work of Frontier.
Just one thing. Wasn't a prize suppose to be announced? What did they win?

It was really hard picking the screen cap/photo entry as there were so many amazing entries to choose from. Ultimately we went for this one as it was quite different from anything else we have seen before; not only in the competition but from anything we've produced ourselves. I also felt it captured the importance of stealth and remaining hidden in game as well as making one of our signature ships just look plain old cool in the darkness of space.

Once again, fantastic entries to choose from, this one grabbed my attention early on, it's simply mesmerising. Whilst the music itself wasn't user created, the editing of the video to match the tone of what you hear is spot on, and culminates in a visual and aural expereince which really grasps at the wonder of space using simple Alpha game play material. Absolutely fantastic.
I also want to say a quick thanks to all those that entered, there really were some amazing entries, you guys surpassed our expectations and I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys cook up for the next competition. Which shouldn't be far off, so keep your eyes peeled.
p.s. For those that just missed the deadline, I can safely say that there'll be similar competitions to this in the near future

I'm loving the video with such a great use of a wonderfully atmospheric track to give a sense of scale. This thread has made me realise that Elite Dangerous really is imminent and is finally going to happen. Seeing light skirting the atmosphere of a planet, gently rotating asteroids and procedural clouds moving over a planets surface - sheesh it's almost here! (I so wish I'd spent that extra tenner for Beta 1!)
Anyway, thanks to Neon Raven, I'm now the proud owner of BoC - Tomorrow's Harvest and loving it! I've heard some of their stuff in various mixes but never investigated further.
