UA Mystery Thread 3: The Canonn

Apparently because of all the binary planet systems, while the belt cluster is the 4th orbital line around Pleione, there actually is a Pleione 4. It has a ring, but no moons. There should be a Pleione 5b, based on the map.

Do we know if the naming scheme was the same back then as now?

It was Pleione 4b. The second moon of Pleione 4.

Pleione 4 does no longer have any moons, but it has gained two rings (a and b).

Did you mention binary??? Isn't that what the messages are being sent in? Could the numbers refer to planetary configuration inside a system? There are some very densely populated systems out there... the largest one I have scanned had 63 astronomical discoveries in it. 1 was the Base star you jump to and a further 62 discovered by my scanner...

yeah happened right in front of me a whole CZ's worth of ships just vanished, it was scary!
I was in a wing so we assumed it was an instancing bug
This game has some strange bugs...
Why are my bugs never that creative? Mine only go Exception in ... and throw up on the carpet.

If there are asteroid belts where pleione 4d was... is it worth me dropping the ua around in there somewhere? It might be scanning everything in an attempt to locate the planet... some remains of the old thargoid battle cruiser might still be there and it will activate? I think my asp would survive the journey...

Might be worth it. Now that it scans, might want to drop it in the second ring of Pleione 4.

I picked up a snotjob in Aries Dark Sector en route to the CG in Varati earlier - seriously I couldn't wait to get rid of it, I think I'm possibly allergic (or maybe it was that prat chasing me pretty much all the way from there). It was a Free floater that didn't point where it oughta. Definitely not towards Merope at least (unless I've misunderstood this behaviour somehow over all these pages).

Video is uploading currently (after discovering I'd lost access to my Youtube account - pah, ephemeral accounts, why bother). Will post when viewable.

I am sure it's nothing special at all, but I am currently heading towards a SSS that just popped up .12 LS out of Pleione 4. I'm scared... ;)

Edit: Bah. Vultures and Fer-De-Lances.

These things are looking for something... they must be... if only we could get some concrete evidence of what kind of scan they are doing... are they scanning hull, cargo, hard points or something else entirely?

Yeah - straight up wins forum name of the month for me.... Mmmm saussies.

*Cough*

Operation stockpile - one hour left - get yourselves in there.

*cough*

Mmmm saussies.

They're scanning our ships and transmitting a visual diagram, that's been confirmed.

In a USS in orbit around Pleione 4, a Sidewinder named "Exobyte Corp" cargo scanned me, repeating standard pirate dialogue. I opened fire and shredded him. A System Security Eagle responded within seconds, flew around a little bit, and jumped to Maia. I followed. And... frameshift took a long time, eventually kicked me out, and now I can't log back in. >_< Just hung on the loading screen.

Hah, you know I've become so used to the ADS I must admit I stopped looking for planets via parallax, but you're totally right. I'm sure they said something about things being there and not being detectable with regular scanners in 1.4, so it's probably worth looking.

During beta, somewhere near the new UA hot-zone, I actually followed a medical convoy out to a undetected planet (I think Ratking15 also found something like this near Soontil), it didn't actually resolve to a full planet in SC, but you could just about make out a fuzzy white blob/dot during the approach.

I'm 90% sure I had already ADS pinged the whole system when I arrived, so it wasn't part of the main system bodies, and probably just there for the convoy when they dropped out of SC.

When I got there (i.e. dropped into the convoy's wake instance) it looked like this:

Anyway, could be worth seeing if we can find a hidden system body like this, but I wonder if it might have shown up already with operation scour going on.

Maybe the ring around Merope 4 is where 4A used to be..? *dramatic pause*

Are you sure about that? Because what happened at Soontill was that Ratking was simply not equipped with any scanner. I went there immediately after and scanned the system, and the planet was there, just like any other.
But your Ghost planet seems very interesting. So, you took a picture of it but you forgor to note the name of the system? Damn...
Just imagine if it was Raxxla! ;)

Interesting.. I have been at Merope for a while now and I found a medical ship, Python and two vultures.. They mentioned something about the mission still being a go. I didn't follow them but instead chose to pew pew. I'll keep an eye out if and when the servers come back online. ;)

No chance today: Bug festival (interdictions) and server meltdown after 1 month Beta/Stress test ...

Maybe who is in has luck, but here no login since over an hour.

We salute you!

Well there's the rub. Should write these things down really. One <13.76ly jump away from the Aries Dark Region motherlode.

Will have to fish it out of my netlog tomorrow when able to. Sorry about that.

No that's good enough - I just wanted to know roughly the area

99% Aries Dark Region GW-W d1-52
We salute you!

Edit:
so than I'm wrong to 100%, sorry ...
Shut-up-mode is far better and fit more to the game downtimes.

Hello CMDRs, it is with great joy that I present you the full definitive sequences list, for all the ships ;)
I must say I had to manually make some slight corrections to some coordinates that were surely wrong, making the ship awful sometimes. The Cobra is an example.
The dropship(s) is/are completely wrong: but there is one drawing for all the ship versions.
I still don't know if it is my mistake in translating the morse, or an original mistake from FD while "creating" the sequences. Even the 5 letters sequences were an error, in my opinion: I manually added what I think was the correct missing letter.

I've highlighted my corrections in bold.

Vulture and Diamondbacks the most detailed ships, Cobra and Sidewinder the most "Vintage", special mention for FdL and Viper.
Worst drawings: Python and Dropships.

All I did, I did for Science! (...and for a signed artwork from David Braben...) :D
