Because it will be 60 later on. It's way cheaper now. Also Squadron 42 will split after launch. Which means it will cost money too. My estimates are about 60 dollars for all 3 episodes (About 60-90 hours of gameplay). So in total SC could very well turn in to a 120 dollar game. If you hop in right now it is 45 dollars. If you hopped in on earlier it was 35 and at a certain sale even 25 dollars.

Hm well you make a very strong point here. Looks like I might as well buy into it now.
You want to give your referral number, Nowak ?

I thought SQ42 episodes 2 and 3 were only included if you backed very early on?

Aye there's that.

The SC site is pretty misleading in that regard. I mean it would be easy enough to be clear on what you're entitled to when you hand over the cash. =(

I would actually advise everyone to wait for the SC Alpha 2.0 release. It will feature a mini open world. That way when you back it and you will also have some kind of solid gameplay content that you can hop in to more often.

Basically this is it. Everyone who buys SC until the release of Squadron 42 Episode 1 will get the first episode of the singleplayer. Early backers who have the mission disk from the initial Kickstarter will get Episode 2. Episode 3 will be a paid additional content campaign.

This time-limited offer will end in 2016 when Squadron 42 becomes an item of its own.

Hope that answers some questions.

Or just see what other people think and write about it before putting down any cash.

Do you know the answers to the questions above Mr. Nowak?

Specifically on the price, the source, and when that's happening?

I know but in all honesty I don't intend to even download it until at least 2017.
But as you said, if it does turn out to be a kickass game I'd be sad not to have bought in now.

I bought ED season pass at premium beta. Seeing progress with Horizons now, I'm very glad I made that choice.

Yea you can check feedback from people as well whichever works for you. I answered the Singleplayer questions above. About the retail price I will try to attach a source. But it is pretty common knowledge that SC will be a 60 retail game. It was said several times by Chris on the videos back in the early days.

The price won't increase until 2016 so there should be no rush. Would recommend you to get the https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Squadron-42-Preorder package by the end of the year after you feel that the game has made enough progress to be backed.

I will try to let everyone know as much as possible about the important stuff.

Well not everyone, only those who buy a package that includes SQ42, many don't.

So as I said above, I can't see any reason to back at this point.

If a price increase for a SQ42 package were to happen, it seems it's going to be in 2.5 months *at the earliest*!

A lot, or not a lot, can happen in 2.5 months.

And assuming your increase to $60 figure is correct then you're only saving ~£4 anyway.

What do you mean? All packages include Squadron 42 so far. There is not a single package without Squadron 42 available. As stated before Squadron 42 will only split from main SC sales once episode 1 is out.

Well 10 pounds might not be a lot but that's just Star Citizen though. When Squadron 42 get's released they will be split. So if you have not gotten it until then and still want the Singleplayer... You will have to pay 60 for SC (Your currency so pounds) and also for the Singleplayer's episode 1 on top which has no clear price definition yet but I can see it being 25 or more (Your currency).

£35.10 for the whole game including SQ42 seemed like a damn good idea to me last month, especially when I compared it to what the LEP would cost me - £100 more for the same kind of stuff, sans SQ42? No brainer.

I guess if you guys all bought in ED at the alpha or really early on it was worth it but it doesn't look good value to me now. I can't envisage any possibility of SC not being worth £35.10 (even if it's only SQ42 that ever gets released). You might feel the same about SC + SQ42 at say £100 combined as I do about the LEP now. It's hard to tell if it's gonna be worth it but I figure that at £35.10 it's worth the risk.

Just downloaded the free trial. Here's hoping my aged brain doesn't feel as sick as it did last time. Never had motion sickness in a game, but something really fried me last time and really quick too. Thanks for the promo code Mr. Nowak.

So is this means that from now-on we will have more&more ppl. who spam all over the net and ask $$$ for the SC....kind of cyber-net-begging don't you think ???

No sorry you're right on that, all packages do come with SQ42. The big "Order squadron 42" package was confusing me sitting next to the others.

All those links you posted say $60 not £60. Currently on the SC site the conversion isn't 1 to 1, it seems to be current exchange rates so if it's $60 like those links imply, that should equate to £39 (at current rates).

Worth noting that the SC site says "This time-limited offer will end in 2016 when Squadron 42 becomes an item of its own." which means somewhere in 2016, not "until 2016". They've essentially provided a 1 year window, in which they plan to switch when it makes most financial sense for them to do so.

But in summary if you're getting worried about missing out on a discount on a game that may well turn out to be a disappointment, don't be. You have 2.5 months at the very minimum before the price might or might not go up. No need to panic-buy right now.

There is a risk of the base price rising at the launch of 2.0 imo. That really should be considered the "real" alpha, at which stage the more risky development stage is over and they can morally justify a higher price.

edit - if so it likely won't be a *lot* more of course (Maybe £5 or so? Or maybe they'll charge more again for alpha/beta access). The big one for sure is to get it all before SQ42 splits off the main game though as you say.

To my knowledge EU gets taxed %20 which brings the price closer to the dollar equal. Also retail is a whole nother beast they might do it 60 across the board.

Possible but many other games have referral systems and SC mostly spread through viral and social marketing. So why not make a system for it. Pretty sure SC needs no beggars the referral system is minorly rewarding.

It's nothing huge like the EVE one where you get a month free or a hefty sum of money from getting some through a trial and in to subscription.

Actually not all packages come with SQ42, I actually own one that does not. It is just not sold anymore.

Aye, closer, but still that's nowhere near £60.

Yeah they could do anything couldn't they. £60 though? I think it's pretty unlikely. I dunno we'll see.

One thing with SC, given what's happened so far I can't help thinking if/when it does arrive, there'll be a ton of monetisation in it. For those that want it of course.

If people are currently paying $500 for a ship, would that market just go away once the game's out?

The base price may reflect that to bring people in. So say £20 base, then tiering upwards with more powerful ships included as the price rises.

If I can pre-order a game for 25%-50% off today, and it's got a high chance of actually being delivered, OR a high chance of being refunded if it doesn't, AND I want to play it, I might go for it.

If the chance of it actually being delivered is less than "high", AND the chance of me being refunded is less than "high", I'm not touching it with a ten-foot barge pole.

Well don't touch SC, seems the new word is that no one is getting refunds.
